From the bottom of my heart, thank you for posting these interviews with Janne and Jaska. The truth is I hadn't listened to Children of Bodom since Alexi's passing, because it was simply too painful. Thanks to these interviews, I went back to the first three albums and completely got back into it. They were such a legendary band with absolutely amazing music. Knowing now the time and effort that went into them, makes me appreciate them even more. Kiitos!

​@@Astiastudioitse ostin aikoinaan sen eka COB "Something Wild" CD:n siitä ekasta painoksesta, heti kun se ilmestyi, jossa on se vihreä CoB logo, eikä sitä ns "oikeaa" logoa. Joku vielä epäili ettei sillä levyllä ole kuin tunnearvoa. Hmmm.... eikös niitä tehty joku 5000 kpl sillä logolla? Tai ainakin eka painos oli muutama tuhat kpl. Sit sillä "oikealla" CoB logolla niitä on käsittääkseni tehty ja myyty... montako sataa tuhatta kappaletta??!! Vai oonko nyt hirveen väärässä? Mut koko höpötyksen pointti oli että ostin CoB levyn heti kun se ilmestyi, siitä on niin kauan etten muista mistä tiesin edes asiasta, ja että levy on ostamisen arvoinen. Kun ei paljon ollu KZbina tms siihen aikaan

Thank you so much for these incredible deep dives into COB history! Janne spoke about in the beginning before social media, bands were very mysterious. Back then COB was the most mysterious band for me in the States. It was hard to find places to buy physical CD's and badically impossible to find info on the band outside of the CD booklet. This interview shed some light on a lot of the things i always wanted to know about 20 years ago. Thanks you for these great interviews!

this was so epic, for so many reasons. i never knew about a lot of this stuff - especially the hocus pocus video. Growing up in Socal, 1997-1999 OC and LA were consumed by nu-metal and we had just flamed out on punk and ska. meanwhile these guys are literal virtuosos on the other side of the world. I heard my first Bodom song in 2004. the entire sound was foreign to me, and i grew up on GnR and Metallica. By 2009 Alexi's guitar playing had consumed me

Thank you very much, it was such a great great interview, I could watch those COB memories endlessly. Red light in my eyes 2 is one my favorite COB song probably because of the messy rhythm, like the transition between the Mozart Requiem part and the chorus, Rhythmically it sounds so messy, yet it gives SO MUCH raw energy. Something Wild will always have a special place in my heart because of this flavor of youth. Do you remember what Jackson Alexi's used the most on the HCDR session ? Was it the Wildchild one, or was he still using the Stone one ? Did you used to record the performances when you were touring with the band ? Hope you'll catch Alexander and Henkka too ! Kiitos !!

Thank you very much. 🙏 You are completely right: what SW lacks in rhythmic accuracy it definitely makes up in raw energy. Unfortunately I cannot recall which guitars exactly Alexi used on HCDR. I bumped into the info notes from that session so maybe there's info about the guitars. Both Alexi and Alexander had names for their guitars. I think one of Alexi's Jackson was called Stryper because of the colors. Alexander might have had a guitar called Leila. 🤔 I recorded their early performances on cassette. I should have at least a few of them in the storage. 👍

I love how much respect Janne seems to have for Alexi. There might have been some bad blood between the two towards the end, but it seems clear that he lost a very good friend and colleague. And yeah, they were an unbeatable pair, really.

When he talks about the Jackson having tuning problem he means the intonation was not adjusted properly. Simple but crucial adjustment.

Aivan huippuhaastattelu tämäkin. Tuo että jätkät on hieronut noita levyjen yksityiskohtia ja kuitenkin vetänyt pitkiä pätkiä purkkiin on inspiroivaa ja pitäs nykyäänkin käyttää levynteossa kun saa noin hyvää aikaan sillä tavoin. Bodomin materiaali on kyllä todella hyvää ja ei liene huonoa biisiä tehneen. Erityismaininta vielä siitä että videon haastattelija on aivan huikee ja tekee kyllä iha mielettömän hyvää duunia. Janne myös tosi nerokas kaveri. Tämä innostuneisuus tarttuu ja on esikuva monelle

Mielestäni yksi hienoimpia hetkiä jutustelutuokiossamme on se, kun Janne kertoo, että on useissa haastatteluissa kertonut olevansa eniten ylpeä Hatebreederin koskettimista, jotka on oikeasti soitettu magneettinauhalle. Ehkä sellainen aito tekotapa välittyy kuulijalle ja on osana levyltä välittyvää vaarantunnetta. 😊

Menipä nopeasti tunti tässä ukkojen jutustelua kuunnellessa, kyllähän tuota vielä lisää olisi mielellään kuunnellu mutta jätetään se jatko-osiin sitten. Väittäisin että tuosta Wirmanin tuleen syttymisesta olen nähnyt videon jälkeenpäin vuoden 2003 paikkeilla internetissä, kuvattuna sen aikaisella perunakameralla, hämärä muistikuva tästä koska silloin pidin koko juttua feikkinä, mutta hyvä näin jälkeenpäin saada varmistus sille että kyseessä todellakin oli Bodomin keikka kuten videon otsikossa väitettiin. Kunnon clickbait otsikkona vielä oli tyyliin englanniksi että "Bodomin kosketinsoittaja syttyy lavalla tuleen kesken keikan ja raahataan pois lavalta" :D Tuo musta huppu on jäänyt myös mieleen koska ei siitä tosiaan tiennyt kuka on sisällä. Kuulosti niin uskomattomalta tapahtumasarjalta silloin eikä tainnut lehdissäkään olla mainintaa niin ohitin olankohautuksella, mutta tosiaan jossain se varmaan on tallessa edelleenkin.
