I had to re post here as a way to pay my respects to Lance. I did get a chance to meet Lance this past year. He was very easy to talk to was not afraid to talk about certain mistakes in his life. He was just a very genuine kind person when I met him and he really loved his fans. I am very sad to learn of his passing but today I remember what I felt after meeting him. He had seemed to finally have found peace with his life. I will always remember him that way.

Now, 43 years on, it's still the best horror movie for chills and scares I have ever seen. Even in 2022 I would never watch it at night in the dark with the lights turned off and I am 60 years old. RIP Lance. This is also my favorite movie of all time, I've seen it hundreds of times. My dad used to show this movie to me and siblings when we were little, and we would hide behind the couch whenever Barlow would appear. Still spooks me out till this day. Everything about this movie is pure gold. It has aged so well. Reminds me of the greatest years of my life. This movie has a distinct vibe to it, it's not just a horror movie, it's an embodiment of the late 70's with the visuals, sounds effects, music, incredible practical effects and so much more. It's hard to explain, it's just perfect. I've memorized every line in this movie. Straker is clearly the best character and the most memorable. "Mr. Barlow is on a buying trip, but the moment he arrives...you'll enjoy Mr. Barlow, and he'll enjoy you." "I think that an evil house attracts evil men." "The house was a monument to the evil, sitting there all those years holding the essence of evil in it's smoldering bones." "monument? who's monument? The Marsten House?" "Careful, you move that barrel Larry and I'll blow you away." "Back holy man! Back shaman! Back priest! He'll cut the boy's throat." "There are no atheists in foxholes." "get out! I revoke my invitation!" "Ned Tebbet's body has disappeared from the morgue and the baby that died this morning is gone." "I have a very valuable, uh sideboard, a Hepplewhite that has to be picked up" "Still married? Still no children?" "That's who he is, return of the native, or is it the prodigal son?" "Sweetest singing I ever heard" " as much as I believe that trees have souls." "Don't look at him!" "sleep like the dead, teacher!" "he killed my parents!" "keep your eye on him, and your mouth shut." "I have two black suits, they're up at the house." I could be here all day lol stating my favorite lines. Anyhow thanks for the video. Lance will be deeply missed.

It's so sad that Lance Kerwin is no longer with us. As a 70s kid. I loved every role he did in film and television. He brought class and intellectualism to every role. Really looked up to the dude! Especially as Mark Petrie. I wanted to be Mark when I grew up! The Classic Film Monster nerd turned heroic Vampire Hunter. Salem's Lot the miniseries is a Masterpiece! Very interesting to see that his voice didn't change in old age. That's very rare!

You did a wonderful job with the interview. It was a lot like herding cats. Just keeping him on topic was pretty much impossible. That's what a lifetime of substance abuse will leave you with. Indescribably Mark Petrie. This was only 8 months ago and as you watch and listen, you hear the tenor of Lance and therefore Mark. So sad to hear this news. The mini series Salem's Lot was absolutely a landmark production given the standards of that time and Mark, as a warrior fighting against this disease with Ben at his side, an odd combination, but worked so well. 👍👍👍This interview is absolute Gold dust and I'm only a quarter way in! Thank you so much for finding Lance and giving him a platform to share his experiences on the Salem's Lot set. The never to be topped, scary as Hell 1979 original was twice as long and TEN TIMES more engaging than this newest, thoroughly unnecessary 2024 remake. The young kid playing Mark Petrie is cute but couldn't hold a candle to Lance Kerwin in the role and seemed way too young. He also failed in conveying the real adolescent fear for the horrors awaiting Salem's Lot. Further his camaraderie with Ben Mears was non existent and his puffed up 'Super Hero' shtick felt about as authentic as a Rock'Em Sock'Em Robot. Further I was appalled how this remake shamelessly ripped off the now historic 'window' visitations not to mention the hospital 'awakening' and without nearly the skill or spine chilling cinematic nuance. Give me taped together tongue depressors as a cross ANY DAY over some ridiculous, glowing CGI garbage... but WOW Alfre Woodard's hair sure looked great! LOL, Judas Priest...🙄

The scene with Geoffrey Lewis in the rocking chair has never left me after all these years. Danny, I was pleasantly surprised to see the person I just happen to have as an online Spanish teacher, also interviewing Lance. It is sad to hear of his passing. It seemed like a "random" news story. I had not idea there would be such a connection to you personally. I guess it is a small world.
@DannyEverything101 Жыл бұрын
It really is a small world. It makes me happy I can help you with learning Spanish as well. Thanks for your comment honoring Lance.

You're right -- during the "staking scene" of Barlow in the cellar, it really looked as though David Soul threw James at 15 pretty hard into that table. I was always afraid Lance Kerwin had been injured there. Good stunt effect.

Great Movie! Parents were out and brothers sleeping when I came upon this in 1979, I was petrified! LOL

That's the one thing I did notice is that his voice really hadn't changed that much! You know how some tones alter with time. I closed my eyes and heard him recite his school pageant...lol.

I know I'm extremely late to the game, but I just learned of this version of Salem's Lot. Didn't know David Soul was in it, and I loved watching Starsky and Hutch when I was a kid. I feel I've missed my chance of meeting anyone from this movie. I wish it was on streaming, but I'll just buy the DVD. Hopefully, I can find one with the entire miniseries, not just the movie adaptation.
@DannyEverything1012 ай бұрын
Hey, you can actually purchase it on Amazon. I bought it there and that's usually where I watch it. Glad you've seen this version now!
@jasonw66882 ай бұрын
@Everything-hw4jb I found a DVD on eBay. Is there a DVD of the whole miniseries? I'm glad I found this version now as well. Something funny... when Ralphie is a vampire, he looks *just like* my younger nephew. Who knew his doppelganger was a vampire from 1979. 😅 I also have the book, so now that I have faces for the characters, I'm more inclined to read the book.

So sad that he's not with us to see the new one, when it eventually materialises !! 😥 And such a sad loss, to his family, friends and fans !! 😥 He was perhaps a little too old to play the pivotal role of young monster fan Mark Petrie, in Hooper's original, buy he realy did make the role his own, due to his great acting and he was believable as the character. R.I.P, Lance. Much loved, admired and missed by us all 😥👌👌🙏🙏🌷🌷❤️💯

I've said it before and I will always say it. The studios missed a great chance to turn Salem's Lot into a series. With Lance Kerwin and David Soul as the primary stars fighting off vampires as they are being followed. The on screen chemistry between the two very good actors was palpable and believable as well as the audience was routing for them. It's a cinematic shame that it never worked out that way
@DannyEverything1012 жыл бұрын
That would have been really interesting to see.
@oliverbrownlow56152 жыл бұрын
As a follow-up to *Salem's Lot,* Lance was also cast in a production of Stephen King's *Children of the Corn,* but unfortunately that version of it was never produced.

Hey it could still become a reality now. They are both still alive. A horror suspense film......reuniting them all these years later and we get a back story of what Been and Mark have been up to since that ending scene with Susan in Guatemala or Mexico. And we find out the creepy bloodsuckers are still after them. It would be fantastic and be a big money maker

Donna, the two part mini series length was 183 minutes - is that the DVD running time you are wanting to find? Can we swing you into buying the bluray, or failing that, I'm sure it is available on streaming services... The hatchet movie edit was under two hours.
