He's not in prison for raising drug prices, he's in prison for securities fraud, he'll be placed in a federal prison, but it's likely he'll be staying in a minimum security camp with white-collar, non-violent criminals.

Shkreli is strong at lying and using correct informations to lead to false conclusions, aka misleading people. And misled he has. A lot. Misleading is what narcissistic sociopaths do. And he is the poster child of the narcissistic sociopath. Sociopaths are pretty inoffensive when they are alone, but they prey on people if they are in contact with them. Shkreli has shown no remorse (as per the prosecutor), only pity for himself. He has smirked all along his trial, showing no respect and no respect of authority. He is charming but often shows superficial charm (most notably on TV). He also relishes to be at the center of attention (hence his live streams, his "discussions" with random people that allow him to ). He lies all the time. He thinks himself superior to other people. You can see his sense of superiority in a lot of videos. If he meets contradiction, he will do everything he can to destroy it. He never apologizes. He never admits he may have done something wrong, but will always have an excuse. He aggrandizes his achievements. He also shows sexual promiscuity when he harrasses Lauren Duca. He has complete disregard for the consequences of his actions on other people and always denies them with lies and excuses. Finally he engaged in criminal activities. These are all traits of typical narcissistic sociopathic behavior (malignant narcissism). In order to detect this type of personality, you have to look at them objectively through his actions, like I just did, not through your subjectivity (he looks nice). I predict he will never have remorse for defrauding investors, even less for what he did to patients who needed his drug, and will always think he was the victim. I have the feeling judge Matsumoto had detected his true nature and that's why she said he was dangerous to society. And to all the bros who are confident Martin is a nice guy in an apartment because they watched his streams (I have watched a number of them), please go watch videos of Ted Bundy, go watch videos of other psychopaths, and tell me they don't look like the next guy next door. In fact go read the comments under Ted Bundy's video. Dozens of women still comment that he is "hot", that's all they see in this monster, and it's pretty clear they woud have ended as sausages if they had met him. Well brahs, you are the male equivalent of these chicks. Even though you know that he is a complete fraud, you're still giving this sociopath a pass. Had you met Shkreli, he would have defrauded you and squeezed you to your last $ just like he did for his dozens of victims. Of course, it is also completely correct the other pharmaceutical companies are doing the same and that ultimately, it's due to politicians who have been bought to allow free pricing of drugs.

It’s sad to see that he’s been put away, but to quote Mr. Shkreli “talk shit you get hit”. His discord and streams were always fun. Believe it or not he has/had videos on his KZbin channel teaching people in finance, organic chemistry and basic business. I hope when he gets out he’ll still play league and hearthstone. Long story short, not all people made out to be villains are purely evil. Thanks.

I just saw the other day Martin's interview on the Breakfast Club a few years back. It was really funny how Charlemagne immediately assumed a super defensive stance against Martin and tried to push the idea that Martin was entitled/morally inferior. At one point he even asked him what Martin was doing to support BLM and tried to imply that it was unethical for wealthy people not to donate to BLM simply by virtue of being rich. This whole situation was quite funny to me because Martin has given so much back to the community, albeit in a very unorthodox way, especially in the form of his free courses on investing and org chem. Although donations can be necessary in certain situations, they merely become temporary solutions to very serious problems; on the other hand, Martin has literally given us--anyone who has the will to learn--the tools for us to transcend our socioeconomic conditions, something much more valuable than a simple donation.

I was under the impression his sentence had nothing to do with the aids drug? He made up false information to entice investors to get more funding for his company...pretty damn sure that was the reason he got taken down. The drug hike made people in general lose sympathy for him but wasn't technically illegal.

Only problem with that is that in most cases when you make the money via those criminal means, you not only have to pay for a SHIT load of legal fees, lawyers, fines, fees and the sort, but you are ordered to pay a restitution to the victims... So you wouldn't be sittin' pretty with all, or even a small amount of your 100 million after it's all said and done.. You might be lucky to still be in the 6-digit range after those ten years, IF that...

Just not a fan of people like him who often dodges questions and don't give a straight answer. Media coverage definitely made him look very bad, but imo he also purposely provokes as well.

Steven Ramirez Huh? More honest with myself? Think I'm being plenty honest in saying that I don't like him but still thought the interview was interesting anyway. And hey look, what business is it of mine, or anybody, to judge him based on how much he has or how he chooses to spend his money? If he earned that money with his brains and hard work, the money is clean, then the guy deserves the wealth that he has.

How the media portrays him: 'This man upped the price of a LIFE SAVING DRUG BY $700 Dollars KILLING EVERYONE' Reality: He upped the price of an outdated drug for $700 so that insurance companies would have to pay $700 dollars more (not the actual patient) and If they dont have health insurance they can get the drug for free by contacting the company, More than 2/3 of the drug is given away for free. Also its for a condition that only affects 2,000-4,000 people. Nice!

Secondly, if the insurance company does refuse to pay for the drug, Which they can only do if its not on formulary and this drug is, so your argument doesnt make much sense... AND even if it wasnt on the formulary then you could appeal OR JUST GET THE DRUG FOR FREE FROM THE PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANY. People who hate Martin don't even know why they hate him. They just hear from the media "This guy made a drug more expensive!" And that's all they need to pass judgment that he's a scumbag. However if your not a braindead lemming, you actually look at what he did and why he did it, its hard to hate this sweet boi. #freemyniggashkreli #ericshairisawful

Yes, and his investors demand maximized profits for him to do this. This wasn't just his decision, but investors who require max profits.

Roses123456 Gold but doesn't that just spread the guilt? I understand that this is a company and that they need a certain amount of income to keep growing, but you have to question the morals and intentions of a group that raises the price of a possibility life-saving drug to such a high level. It's just such a douche thing to do.

You know what I always say, democracy should be like winning the x factor, only celebs allowed in that oval pussy. But hey I'm just some sperg in Federal prison down in the sub basement of Area 52 so what do I know. Uh oh looks like the guards figured out I hacked their WiFi with a toaster oven. Gtg fellow spacemen. PS: don't forget to keep that aluminum foil covering the walls in your colon to keep the probes away, just a tip from the inside, but anyway I'm being waterboarded right now. Hes a guy using plenty of "what-aboutism". Intention isnt really a proper explanation for a decision. I mean for several thousand years we have factual ways to base our decisions on. I would have accepted any other solid explanation than "yeah i did it but i just meant it good". Its like daddy hitting you in the face, then having sex with your first girlfriend to then say "i just did it because i love you and wanted to show you what a bitch she is." Its dumb, its a lie, its no justification, that person is the worst. That applies to Shkreli aswell.

But overall, people don't really understand this whole scenario that has been going on around Shrekli. His intentions for the price raise are very good. I would have done the same in the same manner as he did after hearing his reasons for why doing it. He has excellent points for them and media just distorted the whole incident into shit storm all over the globe. Even in my home country and nobody, no media or magazine took time to research on reasons why he did it. Because if they would have, nobody would've been interested in good news enough, everything must me tragic and concerning to sell. If media would've told the truth right away, anti-capitalists and many people would have accepted his actions. Now everyone is just biased and can't see through the picture they have about him.
