Tom was 30 and really at his peak as an actor. His looks were amazing too. I will always love this movie and Anne Rice was a great writer. The movie would not exist had it not been for her great talent. Rest in peace, Anne.

No wonder Tom doesn't want to reprise the role. Anne was basically bullying him, even the fans, people are so ignorant. This reminds me now of how the fans dislike the new tv show of IWTV, because Louis and Claudia are played by black actors, yet they never seen it, its just pure racism, but they use excuses.

I honestly don’t remember the first time I saw this movie. I know I was roughly 10 and my mom rented it for us to watch. She had already seen the movie and loved it but didn’t own it and she knew I loved vampires so she figured I’d like it. Sitting there with my mom watching this might sound strange but I grew up watching a lot of more mature films so this was pretty tame. The moment that opening music came on and the camera began passing by the people in the streets, I was enthralled. Something about that music and the sense of mystery. The entire tale of adventure and gothic horror had me glued to the screen and when it ended I felt like the interviewer. I wanted more this couldn’t be the end! I absolutely love everything about this film it is a timeless classic in my eyes and vampires have never been so interesting in film since.

I just came here to check how they did the cancing on the tunnel's ceiling scene. Not that I didn't know about that old trick (using a spinning set), but in this case, the tunnel looks SO real, so aged and convincing, that I was super impressed they took the time and effort to achieve such a perfect replica for such a small scene. The only thing that gives it away is the fact that the camera suffers from minor vibration due to the whole mechanism, but they could fix it now if they wanted with digital stabilizing. Amazing film that, just like vampires, hasn't aged one bit.

I’m Kirstin Dunst’s age and I was so jealous of her being in this role acting alongside Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt at their peak. Such a good movie, no other vampire movie other than Bram Stoker’s Dracula, another great 90s vampire movie, comes close but this movie still tops it. Wasn’t a fan of Christian Slater in it, too bad River Phoenix passed away or he would have been in the role.

l love this movie, but reading The Vampire Chronicles, the movie was like a watered down version of the book. The book was more gruesome. For example, in the movie, Claudia just cut his throat and didn't want blood on her dress. But in the book, Claudia slash his throat, stab him in the chest, and bitten him, so many times that the room was almost covered in blood, and when it's done, she was covered in his blood, and didn't care. And they suck their victims dry and sloppy, whereas in the movie, they did it proper and clean. And they didn't even cry or sweat blood. I love the movie, but as the cliche goes, the book is 10× better.

But he's not in a public speaking situation, he's a director being interviewed about his work. It's odd you think it's only Neil Jordan. Stephen Rea also says, "you know". The actors are also inserting uhh and umms and ahhhs. His style of speaking is quite common for Irish people anyway. I much prefer people to speak in the way that is most natural to them in these kinds of bts q and a's. You're more likely to get more thoughtful and candid responses than those who have been media trained to the last.

Someone obviously didn’t read the books 🤣🤣🤣. Lestat and Louis are lovers. The movie had to tone down the gayness because of homophobes like you.

Nope even all these years later, Tom Cruise was terrible as Lestat. Nah. Idc. More like Interview with Gimli. 😂 The only redeeming value was Brad as Louie. But, it's comforting to know that the new one can't be any worse than this.

Darn it, Tom Cruise nailed everything EXCEPT the 6-foot-tall aspect of Lestat. And his creepy interview scenes with the candelabra during this documentary? Hilarious. And please... a college professor teaching "vampire studies"? Truly, the term "extra credits" has become a cult fiasco among tenured fiends who want to bag their students. All in all, this "documentary" loses itself in its final minutes, once its theme gets sidetracked by off-base assertions incited by incidental agents who appear to be catapulted by Anne Rice's trademark pop-eyed enthusiasm about her own works. We should've been satisfied with astounding recollections and laudations from the ACTUAL STARS OF THE MOVIE, but wishful thinking about superstitious nonsense actually seems to "poison the well" during the closing minutes of this farce. This was supposed to be a documentary, not an episode of "What If." At least Stephen King never pretended to be a religious goofball. He has always resigned himself to be a lucrative writer of novels, and not a purveyor of institutional moral aggravation among tipsy Christians in love with their own angst and desire to explode the planet in the name of their combined imaginary friend. I LOVE Anne's early works, and I LOVE her early interpretations of human ciuriosity, but her later-in-life flip-floppy Catholicism leaves MIUCH to be desired if we're going to get a good picture of her actual volume of literary intent before her passing. I am fateful to resign myself to her voluminous literary remnants; nonetheless, her breadth of FANTASTIC supernatural imaginary glut far outweighs the mortal increment of her last installments, and I wouldn't broad-brush her ultimate intent if I were you. However you may disagree with me, we should all remember her as an icon of independent thought; unsurpassed moral inclusion, and victimless outspokenness.
