I love hearing their natural voices. I prefer it to the maid character they play, but I know there are many who love the higher pitched voices. It is fascinating to me what different cultures like.

CooI interview! I've been to "at home" cafe last November due to being a fan of Band-Maid and Miku, their founding member, having worked at that cafe when she came up with the idea for the band. Let me tell you about my experience going with two other guys. As a western guy with absolutely no Otaku ambitions at all I was a bit worried about the whole experience being rather cringy. But that was -mostly- not the case. The worst moment was when we entered, the little bell was rang and all maids turned around to welcomed us "home" in unison. I felt uncomfortable with alle the attention (the other guests also turned their heads, of course). After we got seated and handed a card with the code of conduct* and a menu in English, an English speaking maid came over and welcomed us home personally and handed us out "master cards" (yeah, really!) and took our drink orders. I ordered a matcha latte and when she brought it she drew a cute bunny in the foam with matcha powder, we had basic small talk about where we were from and why we're in Japan (again, because if Band-Maid - it was their 10 year anniversary concert). She also took our food orders and when my Omurice came out, she asked what to draw and later also put our names on the desert plates. I had "bow-cake". Main dish and deserts were enchanted for great taste by the whole group doing the "moe moe kyun" magic spell with the maid(spoiler: it didn't work). At the end we took a photo with a maid of our choice (it was included in the menu) and we left after a little over an hour. Here are some thoughts: The Omurice was OK but compared to "normal" average Japanese cafes or restaurants it was bad. And the cake was just sweet and lacked any distinct flavor. However you're not going to a maid cafe for the food, are you? The maids interacted with us foreigners much less than with the Japanese customers. So be prepared to be ignored while other customers are having belly laughs with the maids around you. Many of these cafes have more than one location and usually occupy several floors. So it's worth checking their website (usually available in English) and making a specific reservations if you're interested in the events that happen on different floors (there was a cosplay event on one of the floors when we went). Be prepared to wait for while to get in without a reservation. Bring cash. There is no splitting of the bill. Again, I recommend going as a group, especially if you're not Japanese. Overall I would recommend going just to experience the whole thing. It's a great memory. And chances are you'll be visiting Akihabara anyway, right? * The code of conduct is, in my opinion, common sense, especially considering Japan: Don't touch the maids, don't take Photos of other people (maids or customers), don't be rude or loud and be considerate of other people and their belonging since the spaces are usually crowded and tight. It's all obvious for me but the fact alone that they still hand these out probably means there are still incidents. And that saddens me a little.

Love maid Cafè and Japan, but sadly i haven't learning Japanese, i'd love to experiecing extraordinary things in Japan, someday. Did they provide English translation for menu? And what they tend to do if western people didn't understand Japanese? Languange barrier happed everywhere you know, LOL. Hi sis, love Japan from Indonesia.😘🇯🇵 You know what? I've read the complex comment in the comment down below, i don't think the maid cafè it's cringe, and they are as good as gold nothing cringe about it. My thoughts on Omurice: It seems that food is delish i just seeing it on the internet though. My thought on Maid Cafè: Maid Cafè in Japan is tremendous, and imppeccable, Indonesia also we have maid Cafè, some of the girls there can spoken in Japanese a bit however Maid Cafè in Japan no match with Maid Cafè here. By the way western guy that commented here inspired me to do the same as an English learner, i feel satified when my comment in English long, i'm on a cloud nine. Meaning: i'm extreamly happy about my comment.😊
