In "series" mode this pedal really shines. Wait till you hear that section. Please let me know what you think. :-)

Sounds really good!!! You might want to try the pedal in blend mode with gain A set to low gain and the gain B with gain to taste that way you should preserve the pick attack from A channel and still get that thick distortion you like from the B channel. I'll be getting one of these very soon!!!
@TheDirtyBeloved6 жыл бұрын
Yup the blend is a great idea but the series mode is a beefier fuller tone

Hi Shane, thanks for your review of this. I have a request if may I. Stemmed on my interest for the G777. You mentioned in some of your comments about that specific G777 pedal that it might be more like a boost than an OD pedal. I was keen to get it... but: I have a blues cube and a katana. I have the orange Two Stroke boost + EQ pedal aaaaaaand I'm not sure I can tell that boost works with SS amps as it is supposed to work with tube amps. So; reviews of that pedal (and most) on the internet are all with awesome tube amps, but even though I think my Blues Cube Artis is freaking awesome, it has no tubes, and I don't think (or feel, or hear) a pure boost pedal pushes it to the break up levels as a pure boost pedal pushes a real tube amp. Would it be interesting for you to do this? Like, trying boost pedals with a tube amp and compare it to a SS amp? I think is a good topic. Cool as usual! thanks mate! (y)

Played this one a few weeks back in the local store. The blend knob is where the magic happens. Set each A drive at 9 or 10 o'clock , B drive at 2 or 3 o'clock, boost your level and then ride your guitar volume control from clean to grind . You can blend more A for more note definition or more B for smoother grind. It's a good plug and play box, but sonic treasure nuggets lurk below the surface if you move through the full range of the controls.

Excellent review. The pedal was always in your eye and not on the guitarist as some have the annoying habit of doing. I have this model and I learned more from this simple teaching than I have from others. As the guy says Easy is the best way.

These Fender pedals are truly good. Fender knocked it out of the park with these. The Pugilist is an extremely well built and heavy pedal. It's extremely versatile, not fizzy sounding and very quiet. So far I own this and the Fender Engager Boost pedal and it too is excellent. These 2 pedals are also very reasonably priced for the quality of workmanship they present. Some others are higher priced but in my opinion although the Fender pedals made in China they offer as much or more than the so called boutique pedals on the market, many of which I own and outperformed by some of these Fender pedals. I also they they are better built than a lot of the boutique pedals. These Fender pedals are built like a tank with thick aluminum chassis and great battery access. There is a lot of "snake oil" concerning boutique pedals in my opinion. I've already sold of some of them because they don't sound as good as these pedals. I'm looking to check out more pedals from Fender range.

It's great pedal. The most versatile i've ever used. I use the first mod more like a classic rock or dirty blues sound. The second mod i use more heavy metal. I gets a great "Holy Diver" sound. I love how both dark and bright sounds you can get out of this pedal. Love it!

I love these new Fender pedals, they look great, sound great and offer more options than the basics that the big pedal companies usually offer. The company has clearly put a lot of thought into them but I don't see them around that much. Maybe it's inverse snobbery, you get more brownie points from an obscure but expensive "boutique" pedal that may not offer anything new

Hey Shane, great vid! I agree - series sounds better to my ears, although I preferred the tele with it.

Great sounding pedal! Pretty gutsy (genius?) move by Fender to release this new line of pedals in such a competitive market that they were modestly in already. From all of the reviews out there (which is a good indicator that it was a good move) the whole series is jam up! 🎸🤙🏻

Think this sounds like a great distortion pedal, looks cool and very well made at a really good price point, gonna have to pick one of these up very soon, thanks for the review Shane.

Reminds me a bit of my TC Electronics Nova Drive- has the option to have series mode and select either side driving the other (overdrive into distortion or distortion into overdrive) or both in parallel. All analogue signal path and you can also store 18 presets. One of my favourite pedals- out of production but worth looking for on Ebay.

For me this pedal sounds great in series mode with all controls at 12 o’clock. Sounds like a slightly heavier overdrive.

Very cool sounding pedal. I agree that it really shines in series mode. With the gain cranked on both stages it almost sounds like a fuzz.
@markdakel92536 жыл бұрын
It seems very straight forward with a good design. I like the fact you can dial up the sound you want with the series side of the pedal, good review with the different guitars, I thought the Tele sounded great

Interesting features with the blend - a little bit like how a Klon works. And then adding the stages where you probably get something like a big muff sound. They're all sorts of fun - let me get my flano!

Personally, I don’t like overdrives on high gain settings and distortion is like another higher gain stage. This I why I have overdrive pedals and no distortion pedals. Am I right?..... Or is it just a different sound?
@grahamlyell67746 жыл бұрын
Is it different from the gain/distortion circuits already built in to many fender amps I wonder?

Just got this pedal. Its extremely noisy. I run through the front of the head on tje clean channel. Am I doing somthing wrong or is it just a noisy pedal?
@saleseng6 жыл бұрын
Harry Henderson Yeah mine is noisy a bit as well and you can actually hear the noise floor in the opening of the video after Shane samples his clean tone and then kicks the pedal on. You can use a gate but then again when your just jamming around at home it’s no big deal.
