When I make Jack Mackerel or salmon patties I do not use flour I use everything that you use except I roll my patties in cornmeal taste so much better than flour.

These look delicious! Growing up my mama made croquettes with a salmon /mackeral combo because Mac was cheaper, liol. She fried them in cornmeal not flour tho , and our side dish was (no meat) spaghetti! Ahh memories😀🥫🥫🍝

Hey Chile!👋🏽My mother always has made this when I was a little girl and I love making them, too. We call 'em "croquettes" I always thought I was eating salmon when I was little, until I peeped the red cans of mackerel. My mother said, "It taste the Same!" 🤣🤣 (California Girl) with the mackerel on the front. We use cornmeal, little flour and crushed crackers instead of the bread crumbs. We had jack mackerel because they were cheaper, but my mother made them taste like heaven served with grits and flour bread (hoecakes) and cane syrup. I make salmon croquettes, now for a quick meal with the grits. I love how you cook simple meals.

Hey Gina, I’ve never had Mackeral but I grew up on Salmon patties 😋I make mine the same way but with fried potatoes w/ opinions and baked beans. Salmon patties,grits and cheese scrambled eggs 😋Try it one day ,you will love it 😊 I also grew up eating sardines and knock wurst 😂😂😂

Made mackerel patties last Saturday but I use cayenne instead of hot sauce, saltine crackers for bread crumbs. Also diced onion and green pepper. But never floured them until next time I cook them. That's the tip I was looking for.
