And now Martyn joined in this season and decided to BACKSTAB EVERYONE.

As much as I would have loved to see our first 2-time champion, this was a win long coming. A bit brutal and underhanded, but I've noticed that's been emblematic of this run. He saw every chance he could and he took it. I had a feeling this would happen after the Scar kill and his sudden alliance with TIES. 2 podiums, and now a win in just the last three series. If there's a season 5, he's going to be a huge force to be reckoned with.

This was amazing. You, sir, have an excellent sense of story and when to seize the moment. And even though it seems to have been an in-the-moment decision, now that I've watched this through a few times, I can absolutely see how that final betrayal moment was set up. Maybe that was in the editing more so than in the playing, but either way, it works so very well. I really, really love the pulsating vision effect when the rage (or the watchers?) start to take over. And the ending is mind-blowing. It hints at so much and raises soooooo many more questions.

As someone who just watched Martyn's lore stream that came out today, it seems like they all have their memories of the past seasons, but they don't hold their negative emotions (betrayal, anger, etc) from last seasons because the Watchers feed on those. However sometimes a bit of them slip through the cracks because the season started too soon, or the Watchers missed a little bit. It's confirmed Canon now that Pearl was replaced with Lizzie for an episode (by the Listeners) because her soul wasn't given enough time to recover, due to the amt of trauma the ending of DL had for her. (She asked Martyn to give Tilly back to her, he gave her Tillys "ashes" and she reacted very emotionally). And then Tangos Rage is confirmed Canon as well, because the Watchers sometimes accidentally let a few things slip past them.

I don't think that's true, especially seeing it from this side--he really didn't have a chance to get away. I agree Scott is good at the game, but not good enough to escape a lava bucket and diamond sword combo without armor. Especially with the element of surprise added in.

I love the ending. 2/3 of the endings in the life series before ended in a relatively calm way (double life and 3rd life) so having an ending where betrayal took place and it was simply every man for himself, with martyn just going crazy is exactly how i imagined the series to end, glad it finally happened. @@ashleytailor4285 it's mostly fan and martyn made now, its like a super big headcannon coming from Evo SMP and it's lore, where there were watchers controlling and 'watching' everyone. As grian went on to hermitcraft and wanted to leave Evo they made a little lore bit where they said he was a watcher and stuff. Tumblr and the fandom went crazy and wrote fanfics and made the watchers a bit scarier every time (spoiler: it snowballed, they're big scary now). Martyn saw this and made a bit with the trafficlight series where he makes little lore bits about it every season and Tumblr freaks out and stuff. In last life he said grian was a watcher "and you're more of... A listener" This ending is also tied with the watchers and it is now my time to go to tumblr and read all of the theories. Also, martyn is really underrated when it comes to that, as everyone is making grian watcher fan fictions while MARTYN IS RIGHT THERE LISTENER LORE GREEN INSTEAD OF PURPLE

After dwelling on the ending finale for a while, I honestly think it was the best, most interesting possible ending and way for this to go. It was a ballsy as hell choice but it made for SUCH a fun ending and for something unexpected, narrative wise and just generally. I’m glad we didn’t get a repeat situation of past series, like the planned fist fight. It keeps things spicy to change up how the “final fight” would go, and augh I’m just thinking so hard about it and it’s difficult to put into words. Taking it into your own hands led to an interesting ending and it makes me think further about your character in the life series!! The themes of loyalty and lack there of, the rage, the mania, GAH, all so wonderful. Great job on the ending and on your efforts throughout this season in general, and thanks for the wonderful lore :D

This lore goes back to 3rd Life, or if you're being technical, all the way back to the Evo SMP days and the start of the Watchers and Listeners. Martyn gave a quick breakdown on it in the Life Series iceberg video on his shorts channel, and he has a longer breakdown of the 3L and LaL lore prior to this season if you look up "inthelittlewood shadow lore" I just now realized you might mean the ending of the game and not the lore, but the lore is awesome so I'm still replying lol

I remember watching 3rd Life and thinking it was super dramatic and like cool. I’m a bit older now, and watching LL and DL I felt like there was something missing. There wasn’t the same dramatic flair that I remember from 3L. (When I rewatch 3L, it’s not there either.) I still think all the series are awesome, including LiL, just lacking the flair I felt when I first watched 3L. But this video is so well edited, and brings out each moment and doesn’t brush off each individual fight. It gives emphasis to the important fights, and brings out certain moments that I hadn’t noticed in other people’s episodes. The music adds so much, and I don’t know how to explain it, but it brought back some of that first-time 3rd Life for me. Your/whoever edits your videos’ editing is amazing. Thank you for giving me back a small piece of my childhood :) (Also the lore and editing at the end is pretty cool :) And congrats on winning!)

Ok, ok, ok! After getting around the Watchers lore, and learning that you've been pulling some strings all along, and a couple more videos on the topic in the last couple of days, I couldn't just sit around and came out here again to see _your_ finale, because I read on twt that yours was going to be around 35mins and went "Eh, that sounds like a long video, and lots of the people on the traffic fandom are rooting for him... I should definitely give it a go". Not disappointed at all! The Watcher and Listeners lore got me good, love the animation (which I believe is a throwback? You've made it in a previous Life series too! I just saw that clip today!) and piqued my interest so much * ^ * Also good job, and congrats on winning the finale!!

Re-run of the cactus ring fistfight but with less emotion behind it would have been a thoroughly bland ending. Not necessarily bad, just lackluster imo. Love it or hate it, Martyn's win was truly climactic. Congrats man I've been rooting for you to win since last life.

I know I'm late, but this ending is SOOOOO GOOD! The people who dislike it don't seem to understand the fact that this is a game and everyone's friends with each other. There aren't any hard feelings, betrayal is literally part of the game. I wouldn't have been upset at a fair fight at the end, but this was SO. MUCH. BETTER. You deserve that win! You're awesome at this, keep it up!

You played the game just the way I like, you were so frequently interacting with others and roaming about, not caring all that much about being the best equipped or most powerful. You still set traps and played alliance games, and at the end, it really is what the Life series is all about- CARNAGE!

Slightly late comment but I absolutely LOVED how this ended!!! The countdown with the voices was so cool and the betrayal kill was so fitting after everything that had happened this episode!! I had watched Impulse's POV before this one, and you have no idea how nervous I got seeing you still fully geared while the other two had taken their armor off already. It was such a small moment before the betrayal kills but it was SO GOOD from the others' perspectives. It's like you could feel it in the air that something was not quite right. Even before all of that, the second you laid eyes on Impulse and Scott in the distance. That part was SO COOL. The encroaching darkness and the drumbeat, you could practically feel the tension in the air as Impulse stared down almost certain death. What a wild series from start to finish! From your episode one boogey kill to here, an absolute journey was had

So… we knows the voice can manafest into whatever Martyn feels safe or comfortable with… but in Last Life it seemed to be a Watcher, perhaps in this one it’s a Listener? Maybe both Watchers and Listeners can change their voices? And now Martyn is connecting what seems to be the L.O.O.T. Fragments to the Life Series now… maybe the voice is Doc? Ahhh so much we don’t know! And the next life series is so far awayyyyy- though- it’s making me wonder if the riddle at the end was giving us a hint at the next series… though this series was SO MUCH FUN TO WATCH! Though the ending was a little bit aniclimactic it was also very entertaining… Each series has had their own ending, 3rd Life; 1v1, Last Life; Hunger Games style show-off, Double Life; a Sacrifice, and now Limited Life; Betrayal and greed… Martyn definitely didn’t want to repeat an ending and it gives the series more unique endings, I like it! Love how they said “Let’s end this like our ancestors before us” I cracked up 😂 Another Lore thing I just noticed after watching it again, this “soul” touched the crystal looking thing that was CRACKING MARTYN- and it said “Fragment secured” is Martyn fused with the fragments? Each time he plays this, “infection” those cracks get worse? Hmm… I’m EXTREMELY EXCITED to see what the animators will be doing with this series and the lore

I LOVE that you betrayed them at the end!! It really shows that it's a last one standing, no rules, game. Also, the first season ended with a punching duel, second season was a battle royal, third season was a sacrifice, now fourth season is a betrayal. Gotta complete the set! :D

For anyone who is currently very mad about Martyn “cheating” or being “unfair”, this is for you: Out of all of the scenarios that could have happened with the last 3, the one that did happen was by fair the MOST dramatic and climactic. Let me explain. Firstly, there are only a few pathways that could have happened if Martyn never did say “nah I’m not playing these silly games”: 1. Scott and/or Martyn kill Impulse, Scott self sacrifices for Martyn winning (super similar to Double Life) 2. Scott and/or Martyn kill Impulse, Scott goes all out and kills Martyn (Repeat Winner) 3. Martyn and Scott fight, Scott wins and kills Impulse (Repeat Winner) 4. Martyn and Scott fight, Scott wins and sacrifices himself (New Winner) 5. Martyn and Scott fight, Martyn wins and either Impulse or Martyn win (New Winner) and in any scenario pretty much, Scott has the possibility of dying as well, perhaps getting too low (but we will never know lol). While this may have been more of a fair fight, this would have definitely dragged on the session and final episode. Also, not only would it be pretty much like 3rd Life’s ending and a bit of Last Life (if you count the fight being 1v1v1 rather than 3rds life’s 1v1) combined, the possibility of Scott winning would have been very high. This would have caused lots of happiness but maybe even more sadness/disappointment, due to the fact of Scott already being a winner of a Life Season (Last Life). While the possibility of Martyn or Impulse winning based on this PVP would have still been possible, I personally believe it would have been unlikely. However what changes this possibility is that Scott does do the sacrifice play with the final person so that there is a new winner. However, I personally would have been not too happy with this due to the similarities between that and Scott with Pearl in Double Life. It wouldn’t be unique. Each seasons ending has been different. Continuing that trend creates an unique story for each Life Season, and the Life series as a whole. Martyns betray, while it may seem cowardly, was a clever one and ties directly into his character and story thus far. I mean each Life Member creates a story within this series per season based on improv and stuff. Clockers with a family and absent dad Etho, Bad Boys doing bad things, etc. etc. How Martyn ended this season off was directly in character for him based on his story crafting in all the seasons combined. -Loyalty (though betrayal at the end, still was Loyal to the Mean Gills). (Also Martyn didn’t betray Scott when going with TIE, he simply wanted to gain more Allies to protect both himself and Scott as per his offer.) -Puns/Wit -Wanderer (wandered for convos, etc.) -All others + Betrayal, Cleverness and Puppet-master (Gas lighting everyone, lurking in the shadows, etc. etc. Each singular trait, in their respective order, were shown in their respective Life Season. HOWEVER, all others + the new additions were combined into Martyns character arc for this season. So in conclusion, you can have your own opinion on the ending. But don’t hate Martyn for following the unfair rules of an unfair game world, were it’s literally the last one standing wins. Plus, can you blame the guy for wanting to end it quick? During his watch party live stream for the finale he said he was very sick/getting super sick and just wanting to end the session, death or win.
