@@DexDex4u All true knowledge. A lot of what we know right now in the world isn't necessary. It's fun, can seem like it's making the world better, but ultimately not necessary. Knowledge is a curse. We're killing ourselves because of how much we know. I just want to make it known that when you're lost, confused as to why you're not happy despite having a 'good life'. Your answer is in the Bible. That's what matters. But maybe there's some stuff on reverb, I have no idea I haven't finished it yet.

Thanks! When choosing guitar amp sims there are so many things to look out for. Some companies take a handful of basic IRs whereas others record hundreds or more covering a wide range of settings (especially trying to model the behaviour under distortion). It’s a fascinating field!

I can't express how helpful your videos are, it's really great to have experienced engineers share their knowledge. Reverb is something I love but I struggle with it quite often.. can you make a video on how to figure out the perfect amount of wetness needed on a track... I usually end up with a reverbish track or quite a dry track.
@audiospectra3 жыл бұрын
I believe the best way is to focus on using reverb as a panning (front-to-back) tool instead of focusing on numbers and math. The higher the decay the more a sound will be pushed towards the back of the stereo field, when the decay time is short things sound upfront and in your face. So, you use the decay to place your sounds in different pockets, from front to back. You can also play around with things such early reflections and pre-delay to put your sounds in a particular space/position in the mix. That's how you add depth, contrast, and emotion. But you can't achieve that if you're still thinking about numbers.
@feggyo3 жыл бұрын
when you stop realizing that you are hearing a reverb, then that is the right ratio of wet/dry signal

Awesome video on reverbs! Just one tiny nitpick - the sound that’s played into the space or hardware is the IMPULSE, and the response is just the recording of everything EXCEPT the original impulse - for example, when recording a space, you cut out the direct sound of the impulse that the mic picks up.

Fun fact - if you take a little combo guitar amp w/a spring reverb tank in it and crank up the reverb & shake it around (without any guitar signal going into it), you get some really gnarly crashing chaotic sounds out of the springs themselves bouncing around.
