I really agree I had a friend that never saw their parents fight and so when they were in a relationship and they were fighting because people fight she like thought that something was wrong with her like that their relationship was doomed because they argued about one little thing they had a disagreement but because their parents never showed her that that’s normal she thought it was like this weird and that you weren’t allowed to fight people who loved each other didn’t fight about stuff.

8:34 I believe that if you hide "arguments" from kids it leads them to believe that relationships are easy-breezy things and that people don't have differences in opinion and what that ends up looking like later on in life, especially once they're with their partner. relationships are complex. Now being violent and passive aggressive in arguments in front of kids is different than having an intense discussion of different opinions on a whatever the subject may be. i appreciate these videos and its lovely how loving you two are, it is nice to see a healthy relationship on KZbin that holds good morals/values.

9th grade sweethearts here too! Just had a convo with our kids about how mommy and daddy’s relationship is the most important. They were initially offended 😂that my husband is my favorite person but we explained why it’s good for THEM when daddy is mommy’s favorite and mommy is daddy’s favorite.

So weird, I was just thinking about the idea of arguing in front of your kids or better put; having conflict/disagreement in front of your kids and how I think it’s really important for them to see it and like you said see it resolved which is the most important part in doing it in front of them. I think it’s important for children to see how conflict should be rightly handled and it’s even a chance to act out repentance and the way of forgiveness.

I think kids need to see that mum and dad do disagree and do argue but that you treat each other with respect even in an argument. Dealing with someone disagreeing with you and how you treat each other when something annoys you or you really don't like something or you just get frustrated and angry. Cause arguments will happen in your kids lives and it's important they know how to be treated and how to treat others while arguing.

In regards to intimacy postpartum, I think it would be helpful to expand on this question in future Q&As by giving examples. Making time for each other and intentional time is something a lot of couples know to do, but don't know HOW to do - do you schedule sex? How do you prepare a distraction free environment physically/mentally? Do you have someone else watch the kids? Those kinds of details would be helpful to other couples who are trying to do the same thing x

Aw. This was fun! My dad left the old colony church in his late teens. His family is still in it, but so thankful my Dad found peace and assurance of salvation. Thanks for sharing. I could relate on so many levels. My husband and I got married young as well and have no regrets but I did agree with you on dating at home. It’s too easy to watch a movie and get lazy. Those dating ideas were great. Maybe it’s time for bikes haha. We are in our 30s now and though teens have their ups and downs, there’s a lot of fun and laughter and connecting in this stage of life. I LOVE that you were interested for a while before dating. I married my high school sweetheart too. We went through a similar thing as you. I was engaged at 17 though we didn't marry until 20 and 21 because we were saving money and were bad with finances back then. We've been together 22 years, married 18, had kids when I was 23, 25, and now will birth the third at 39 (I know such a gap). Most of my family members married at 17-21, so no one cared in our family about how old we were while outsiders didn't get it. Love bike rides!! It is fun to do that as a family too. Oh my goodness, when you talk about Mennonites, I am also Mennonite! I have relatives, who I always call “old order Mennonites.” As they wear dresses and head coverings, but I also have some that wear just skirts and modest clothing with lace covering. And then there’s me, who is at a more… Modern church where you wear normal clothes just like you guys. So if anyone ever hears that I am a Mennonite, they ask where my horse and buggy is… I always have to correct them that that’s Amish (haha). but people automatically think that I should be looking a different way… Still a Christian, but just interesting thing and I get it😊

Have you guys ever heard of the band Lantern By Sea? They are a local band to where I live and they are still kinda small and they aren’t a ‘Christian band’ but they are Christian people in a band haha. Their music is very hopeful and beautiful. When you guys were talking about music I was reminded of them and I just felt like you guys might like them! They also just came out with a new Christmas song that’s so good. I disagree on letting things slide. Many women put SO much pressure on themselves to 'get back to norma' after baby... Do yourself a favour and give yourself time to adapt. Also, disagree that you need to clearly separate married life from family life. Especially with small kids, they will naturally be a part of your life! Also, they will grow up. You will have time without the kids at home. Just appreciate that time and stop trying so hard to get the 'pre-baby' arrangements back at all cost. Let it slide;).

I think what they mean with the separating marriage and kids is you still need to make your relationship a priority. Because if you don’t hang out don’t talk don’t do all the things to have that relationship then your relationship is going to fall apart. So by time your kids are grown you are already divorced and no longer together. I think they mean they still want to be able to have that connection even with kids in their lives.

And also, you don't have children to just spend time as a childless couple. And where do you guys get that threat tone of voice "you would be divorced yada yada...". I know plenty of couples who never had the money or the possibility to leave their kids to someone and go on dates, and they worked long hours too, they are now lovely retired couples who cherish the memmories of their youth with their kids and each other. None of them "fought" for their relationship "despite" having kids. Give people some maturity credit.
