2 years ago at a temporary job : I appreciate the ISTP corrected my mistake, I was thankful for that, because he explained directly without emotions, and was one of the rarest to come talk to me directly, not afraid. The F types girls were mad at him many times (surely because Fe dom vs Ti dom) I wish to have been longer at this job to talk more with him. He got along well with INFJ INTJ. I think it’s difficult for them to have friends, or partner, they might prefer a type who have T as 1, 2 or 3rd function. They have a certain presence, we are very similar, we talk only when it’s necessary, and don’t bother other.

The lack of emotion in conversations is one of the best qualities about ISTPs! I'm not sure if ISTPs have a difficult time making friends because the ones I know are always around people. I think similarly to INTJs, they're just a bit picky 😂

@@justcallmejon22 They require 100% loyalty, so that takes time. From my experience, him knowing I can meet/understand his Ti opens him up, and he knows he can trust me with his process and the data points he is relinquishing...much in the same way I release & trust my Ni to him. We cannot even think about weaponizing each others' process. That would be very damaging & hurtful.

I think Ti and Ni makes a perfect combo for conspiracy theories. Very easy to generate an entire internally consistent theory from limited external facts. It should also apply to INFJs. My understanding is that Ti-Ni types do tend to be less "certain" of their theories than for example a Ti-Si would because Ti-Ni types more easily understand that they're operating with ideas not strictly attached to facts. So conspiracy theory wise they'd be more like "here is a possible alternative explanation for this event which makes logical sense" rather than "this is definitely the actual explanation for this event". Assuming they're in decent touch with their extroverted functions, ofc. They'll also enjoy engaging with conspiracy theories because it stimulates their Ti and Ni functions - it's "fun to think about".

She doesn't get offended with my bluntness or lack of emotion which I really appreciate, and she enjoys when I get her to enjoy life a little and get out and about and do some fun activities if she wants to. An ISTP here, I have always been curious about the Intuitive types so thank you so much for making this video. I think Ni is a difficult concept to be explained, when I first read the description of Ni, I got really confused. As a child Ni user, I try to share a little bit of my views on how Ni works. I would say Ni is a sudden “pop” of thoughts that comes from nowhere and I think this is a result of the brain quietly (but actively) retaining information from external sources without us ourselves noticing (whether that is the environment, a book quote or a conversation that we didn’t noticed we have heard). When we encounter similar situtations, the brain just quickly pull out information that we didn’t even noticed we have saved in our mind. It is like having an exam. If we studied really hard before the exam day, when we see a certain keyword in the exam paper, we just instantly know the answer and the flow comes naturally in our mind. When it comes to Ni, the syllabus becomes everything in the daily life (and imagination of course). So it explains why Ni users need alone time because they need to “study” the world (input information such as reading a book) and boils down all these scattered thoughts into one key idea. I had times when I am suddenly interested in a certain topic and have the urge know everything about this topic. This urge swill not stop until I have done enough research and the ideas have been boiled down into one concept that I believed in. I think you guys INTJs are experiencing the similar situation, but the urge for you guys are ongoing as you guys are interested in “every” topics rather than a “certain” topic. I don’t know if I get it right, but feel free to let know me if I am not, I am really curious =D For Se, the introvert way to use Se would be…. To enjoy anything that we see, hear and feel but not actively sharing… haha. Like if I eat something really delicious, I will think this is really good and will eat it again, but may not explicitly show any appreciation at all…. And for the Fe… We do have emotions, but is very difficult for us to discover and express our emotions. I hope I can do better on dealing with my emotions and to care others better…. :)
@justcallmejon22
@justcallmejon22 8 ай бұрын
I think you explained it perfectly. It's not just an urge to understand but it's a need. We won't be able to arrive to conclusions unless we have enough data to get there so it's similar to your syllabus analogy 😉

I didn't care most of my life and now almost 30 I don't even know how exactly screws and walls work. Few years back discovered, wait houses how special points where you can hang stuff aka studs and there's a device that can detect those places, how that works, what?!?!? MindBlown. Currently have hard time learning anything, I want to learn yet for some reason refuse to learn. Then discovered at some point, there are studying methods and people learn to study their own way and there's sort of "effective" way to study too. OH FFS Sorry for little vent.

It's nice to see an Ni user who actually appreciates Ti. I am an ENTP and I always have this banter with ENFJs where we just discuss about other people and have so many inside jokes that other types don't understand. My mom is also an ENFJ, she uses Ni to teach me about people's true intentions and I use Ti to explain more specific situations. ENFJs have Ti as 4th function, so I have to keep on reminding her to use Ti. Ni and Ti need to be used together to have a complete understanding.

@@justcallmejon22 I think that Ti wants to find out the truth, but Ni just knows the truth. Ti can't help thinking about the reasoning of things, most things follow a similar logic, but there are rare occasions where the logic just doesn't add up, so it takes me years to find the key when Ni users just knew it all along. I'd like to think that Ni is statistically proven whereas Ti is scientifically proven. Ti is there to measure how accuracy of Ni.

I'm an INTJ married to an ISTP. We've been together for a decade and we accomplish a lot. For us, our "work" is our play. A few years ago, we both retired early and started focusing all of our energies and skills on ourselves (we pulled a John Galt). Now we live 100% off grid, grow a lot of our own food - you get the idea. Our projects usually start with an idea, then we draw it out and hand the paper back and forth until the plan is solid. I'm better at conceptualization and visualization; he's better at the details (measurements, hardware, etc.). Together, it works. I think when you're in your 20's or so, a feeling/extrovert type might seem more appealing because you may be trying to "acquire" personality traits you don't have for yourself as an introverted/thinking type. It's easy to mistake admiration for love, though. When you're our age (50's), a complementary type is so much nicer to actually live with than the opposite. It's peaceful, quiet, and it stays interesting. :-) We're at loveoffgrid (dot com), BTW.

Congrats on landing yourself an ISTP! Came here to understand more of my colleague that I have a love hate relationship with. I appreciate him however he can be too blunt and outgoing to others. While I do not care about it and go my own way, he is easily misunderstood by the others. I talked to him to try to tone down the bluntness however it does not seem to work. Also for work, it was really a chore teaching him the framework that I've built inside my head. He would go about destroying my framework and adds stuffs which I had intentionally removed based on historical data. Have advised him the reasoning behind them till I just gave up. He always ask me the simplest of things which I already brainstomed earlier before passing them to him, ticks me off but he learns. One day one of his work caught fire (not literally) and my best words to him was, didn't I tell you to do the steps I taught? To which he just shrug me off. (I did cover his ass and did the necessary shield, INTJ are not heartless). Now it has been several months working together and I can't help but appreciate his work. His standards have reached the intended level however he still comes to me for clarity. Nowadays I can just give him a general guideline and advised him to think of the remaining part. My other colleagues always describe us as cat and dogs where we can't get along well. However, I feel that he gets along with me well. When I enters the office in the morning moody, he is the only one that ticks me off but does not reach the exploding level. As mentioned by him, he knows a certain level he could annoy me at. Then after lunch, it would be my turn to disturb him. Since I'm all refreshed after my alone time, my happy level goes up and it is his turn to be annoyed by me. Going back to my first point, he is blunt but friendly to everyone which I try to learn from. In exchange I can guide him where to snip the bluntness. Not that he accepts cause he prefers to be blunt. 🙄

Just found out that I'm an ISTP and a lot of these just "make sense" to the way that I operate, especially being mistaken for a complete extrovert. Definitely felt that personally when I know how to take up space, but don't like being the center of attention. I definitely don't mind it if necessary, but I rather operate in the background and let other people speak. Another hint that made me realize that I wasn't that much of an extrovert was that I would and very much do socialize fully into my conversations with other people, love to get to understand people on a deeper level, but once I get home, I tend to shut down and only talk to my family that I live with. I dread making phone calls or even video calls with other people and stick to my family and partner in terms of who I actively try to maintain a consistent relationship with. In terms of this video though, my older brother (11 year age gap) is an INTJ and I tend to have very deep and meaningful conversations, but find that we're also okay with having time to sit in silence during car rides together when going out to eat every so often. It explains that dynamic extremely well to why we mesh so well together, while also not needing to constantly talk to each other to feel close to one another. I've switched around so many times within the MBTI types from INFP, ENFP, ENFJ, ESTJ, but this one especially speaks out to me and explains the quirks of being stable, yet spontaneous at the same time when I feel the sudden urge to go for something and have that guide me as if it were motivation. I tend to not monitor my body language very often and feel out of place socially whenever I express my feelings of excitement, since I tend to be very expressive when I genuinely feel some kind of emotion. It's often hard to hide my feelings, but I notice that there are times where I can just break down from holding a lot of my feelings in as well. I lose steam very quickly and switch from project to project, but if there's something that truly has a greater purpose that my role in it, whether it's for my career or interpersonal relationships, I prioritize that fully. While it can be difficult to acknowledge other people's opinions on topics that I don't agree with or other suggestions (when working with other people) that I don't end up mentally critiquing, empathy in the pure interpersonal sense has been an easier feat for me to handle and it's more so having to work through times where I do need to step back and let someone speak their piece and understand the reason why they think a certain way.
@justcallmejon22

I personally think that being able to sit in silence with someone without feeling uncomfortable is a sure sign of comfort for an INTJ. @@justcallmejon22 Thank you, I appreciate it! I agree with the specific point you made about “if we don’t feel like we need more data about you” part, since I usually feel like I ask a lot of questions to inquire and then if it’s enough information for me to understand something (say a classroom setting) or if I understand something enough through a presentation, I won’t feel the need to get any more information than what I already know. There’s definitely comfort knowing that nothing needs to be said, I find a lot of personal comfort just having someone’s physical presence even if we’re not actively talking to one another.

Type in the same title as your video and you'll see a ton of videos of INTJs with ADHD, so I'd say it's possible that a lot of planning comes from ADHD and not from cognitive function
