I agree with you 100%. I really like the VDO instruments and Morse controls. Reminds me of quality instruments on my dad’s boat back in the late 1970s. Today’s boats look awful specially exterior profile. Many designed by people that have no clue neither passion for the ocean but broadening appeal to anyone.

Hey Gus, Love your vlog. Love the fact you are cruising and learning with an opening and great "can-do" attitude. Just a bit of nomenclature for you. Floor boards in a boat are called the cabin sole. Walls on a boat are called bulkheads, either longitudinal (fore and aft) or horizontal (athwartship). Most athwartship (side to side) bulkheads are considered structural or necessary to the integrity of the boat.

Finishing floors (or any other wood) is all about patience and paying attention to detail. Sand it all smooth, make whatever repairs you need to, get ALL the sawdust, apply stain if desired, varnish. Once dry, lightly sand to make the varnish smooth, clean up all the sawdust and varnish again. Repeat until desired layers of varnish are applied. Easy idea, but lots of effort and time consuming. But, if it's done right, it results in something beautiful.

36 years ago I lived on 1962 32' single screw Canoe Cove for several years. They were some of my best years. Cruised all over BC Canada were I still live. Got Married and moved ashore. Hey Gus. LOVE the series! On your next stop in Jupiter, make some time to do some drift diving. Jupiter is one of the premier dive locations in Florida. Always plenty of wildlife on the reefs. Probably the best dive boat I've been on docks at the Square Grouper restaurant (great burgers!). Look for the big red boat. Can't wait for your next video. Cheers!

Jupiter, FL is where Jason Newsted (Metallica) lives with his wife He's a big part of the community there & still plays in a band (that sounds more like a Johnny Cash type thing) called The Chophouse Band. do a barnacle flush to your engine, and ac and generator if you have them. never know how long it's been since that boat has had it done. youtube vids show how. i personally recommend doing reverse flush.

Sand it down and put tongue oil on it and just when ever you want rub more on it and it will look that way for ever gets a scratch rub some more on and will never peel and is water prof. Good luck try a spot and see what you think .

First time I see your channel and I think is pretty good, my only criticism is... Wow.. . take it easy with your camera man, you move it around too much and too fast, it made me dizzy and gave a headache. Other than that, keep going, I think you are on the right track. 😉👍

As a good rule it is risky to tow a dingy especially with a following wind and seas as the dingy can go faster than boat and could even with stern get ropes tangled or caught in rudders or props or flip dingy lose engine or damage dingy. Davits are the best and body out of the water .. The anchors sound to be to lightweight for this boat .Even the two of them combined in good grip ground could lift if there is strong winds or worse strong currents .Very heavy chain for the first twenty feet could help some but increase weight for manual hauling out .Boats this size normally have a windlass electric or hydralic driven to winch in chain or minimum a large lever on the windlass to help a human winch in anchor chain and anchor. I suspect a 80 lb anchor would be minimum for this boat if you want to be secure in windy conditions weather . There are formulas that generally work out weight of boaT and weight of chain . My 3 ton 30 foot sail boat with 8 mm chain and 25 lb CQR and 35 lb Bruce has dragged in 45 knot wind in a sheltered bay and had to be reset 4 times in one stormy night . Generally the marina type leisure boats for day sailing come with light weigh anchor tackle for good weather anchor use . You can be amazed how many tons of a big boat can be held by a 35 lb Bruce anchor but if it starts to drag it might not regrip rip like a heavier one might .Keep up the good work .A tip is cheaper modern house paints are often as good and sometimes better than more costly marine version paints
