My father was hospitalized due to a brain intracerebral hemorrhage in pons and medulla on May 14, 2024. He was transferred to the ICU and put on a ventilator just three hours later. Despite his critical condition, he miraculously regained consciousness on May 17, 2024. I was by his side and witnessed him responding to my requests to move his hand and leg. Unfortunately, his condition deteriorated, and he passed away on May 21, 2024. The doctors attributed his decline to his pre-existing kidney disease, which made it challenging to administer all necessary medications, as his creatinine level had risen to 4.1."
@notablediscomfort10 ай бұрын
I feel like this is something someone should watch even if the only medical certification they're going for is EMR because there's just so many things getting thrown at you that you can't help but pick up stuff like "if they've lost consciousness, you should suspect a tbi" or "if you suspect a tbi, try to keep the head elevated."

Well sir thanks for the reference. I need it from time to time so as I remember certain things about my accident to Advocate for myself. Five years post with all the rehab thankfully it helped tremendously. Depressed skull fracture DAI severe TBI ICH and SAH two months comatose. They almost gave up on me. Horrible brain damage mostly to my frontal and temporal lobes. Epilepsy with all the seizures (about twenty a week). Bright side is I am almost living independently. I still am watched over though as I will cut/burn myself whilst cooking.

Love this, very well explained. Question! Would you see your cushing's triad with most of these haemorrhages, just specific types or only if the ICP becomes grate enough regardless of the haemorrhage origin? Thanks
@ICUAdvantage2 жыл бұрын
Hey Hollie glad you enjoyed it! So any of these bleeds could lead in increases in ICP to the point to where you could have the presentation of Cushings Triad. Its not a result of any type of insult, but as a result of the elevation of ICP, of which these all can contribute to. Hope that makes sense.
@holliestickland94182 жыл бұрын
@@ICUAdvantage yes that does thank you. I guess posturing symptoms like decorticate and deceribrate (hopefully I spelt that correctly) would also be down to the locations of the bleeds and the severity of the ICP as well?

Hi Eddie, Thank you for your very informative videos. I have not yet watched all of them, but I intend to do so. Have you a lesson on explaining the pathophysiology of the main signs and symptoms of people with brain injuries? cerebralauto-regulation changes?kelly monroe theory?) and what actually happens in side the brain to result in this. Why do they have headaches, vomiting, seizures etc? I find a lot of sites list the signs and symptoms but do not actually give an explanation to why and how these manifest physiologically Thanks again.
@ICUAdvantage4 жыл бұрын
Hi Laura. Signs an symptoms will vary greatly depending on what type of injury and where that injury is at. I don't have a video dedicated to that but in future videos I will on Neuro that will be discussed as appropriate. I do have a video on TBI which talks about some what you are asking about.
