Those tips are well worth the watch. Never would have thought of those. Great information as always. Thank you for putting this series together!

Hi Eric. This series of tutorials is really well pitched for beginners. There really is a mental barrier to getting going with the airbrush and I think these will help dispel some of that. Heck, Norm Chan might even have another go, maybe ;) One thing I noticed was that the Wicked Colors paint recommends "reducing" for tips smaller than 0.5mm - I believe this means reducing viscosity with the reducers mentioned just above on the label. I think the air pressure itself is in much the same ballpark for most tips sizes, depending a bit on the geometry of the nozzle, needle and cap. The wording could be a bit clearer. My next fun challenge is try my first iridescent paint job with an airbrush. Oooh, wish me luck...

Nicodema I’ve been waiting for someone to mention this. I realized that could be the case after I had already released the video. Although the punctuation seems otherwise. Ultimately I decided to leave it as it’s not too detrimental of a mistake overall. Plus I’ve found I prefer to shoot Createx/ Wicked about 5-10 less than recommended anyway. I’ve yet to work with iridescent sound like fun, good luck!

@@coregeek Yeah, I think they're all ballpark figures and as you say you find what works. My first airbrush seemed to need more pressure than recommended for most things, otherwise it was a sputtery mess.

Really hope that series won't end on just the intro. It would be cool to see video on doing shades with airbrush. Have been using one for a year not but never got a good grasp of the technique.

Double I’m considering it. Im ready for an airbrush break and have some other videos I want to make first.

Enjoying the series. So many variables and nuance involved. Makes mastering auto painting seem trivial in comparison, TBH.

John Jones Yeah it’s a balance figuring out how to present it all in an easy way to follow. Hopefully I’m hitting that goal. Thanks for watching!

I'm starting fresh with a cheepo harbor freight 10 buck airbrush. I've been using the 50 cent walmart acrylic paints thinned down with 91% alcohol and it seems to be working pretty well. I tried solutions with more water and it is taking way longer than I want to dry.

Thanks for the tip. I picked up some of those Apple Barrel paints, too, and I was not happy with thinning them with water and a bit of Windex.

@@andy-in-indy I'm thinking about adding some glycerin I have sitting around to aid in the flow. I hear that helps.

@@0meat Acrylics are new to me. I have been using Model Master paints, and I got the airbrush as a sprayer. I have recently taken back up with miniatures and most of those colors are acrylics. They are not as easy to thin as model paints. :-)

I’m painting armor and am wondering if these airbrushes are viable. I like my rattle cans due to the amount of coverage I can get but I’d like to get to the large variety of colors and combinations available to airbrushes. Would I just be holding an airbrush further away from surfaces to cover more surface area but have to deal with applying many many layers?
@coregeek6 жыл бұрын
I've painted armor plenty of times with this same airbrush. If you use quality paint coverage shouldn't be a problem. It just takes a bit longer than a rattle can because the spread is not as wide.

Do you ever have vellejo air metallics wipe off your plastic? I can’t get them to stick. Should I be using primer?
@coregeek5 жыл бұрын
spacemansabs I haven’t. But yeas primer may be necessary. Also you may need to scuff up the plastic with a fine sanding sponge as well to give the primer more adherence.
@spacemansabs5 жыл бұрын
Coregeek Creations I think the sanding would be a bit extreme for the fine details on the Bandai Star Wars models. But I’ll give the primer a go
@coregeek5 жыл бұрын
spacemansabs Yeah agreed. I didn’t know what you were working on. I mostly think of things in terms of props cause thats my thing. You may also want to try just wiping the surfaces down with rubbing alcohol as well.
