I've been saltwater fly fishing for 3 decades in New England and yet I learned several new things. I'm going to Sanibel Island mid March and I'll be on the Dawn/Dusk patrol ankle deep on the Gulf coast. Thanks gentlemen.

I’ve been looking recently at getting into salt water fly fishing in the panhandle area, and this tutorial was excellent. Covered so many aspects and questions that I needed to know. Thank you.

Cool, what was your favorite part of the video?

@@HeadFirstFishing I knew a lot of the basics but what I didn't know was that kind of leader was used in saltwater. That and what kind of flies work well were all valuable new info for me.

Well it happened again ! Just like when you get the urge to go fishing I've got the urge to fly fish again, did it many years ago ,I to am a fly fisher from up north and had to learn how to fish saltwater and yes I was one of those people that knew Carl Hanson and sat for hours tying and fishing together he was my mentor , I faded away from fly fishing in the quest for hunting bigger fish and after watching some recent shows with Flip ( I watched him ,every show up north ) I realized that I'm missing that certain thing I enjoyed so much , This time I've got a big poon on my bucket list , thanks for the info guys ,tight lines ! 7/28/20.

Great video and info guys ... Summers I am on the west coast fly fishing inshore salt water daily in my local lagoons and off the beach here in San Diego county . I get a lot of halibut on mid to large streamers I tie up , as well as salt water bass .... we have corbina you sight fish off the beaches here that are a lot like fishing bone fish as you walk down the beach. reading the water is crucial for all these species and once you get the hang of that you can find the fish . thanks again always fun picking up new fishing tips .....

What if I wanted to just go from fly line to 20lb flouro to minimize knot failure points, would this be workable?? Not ideal I’m sure but at least workable?

Cliff, Thanks for the video! Do you recommend a floating line for snook beach fishing, sink tip or intermediate?
@HeadFirstFishing5 жыл бұрын
"A floating line will work but intermediates are my choice. They get below the surf action a little better. Sinking lines are just too much imo. " -Cliff

Thanks for the response! Will you please recommend your favorite intermediate line for the beach? I have an 8 wt and 9 wt.
@HeadFirstFishing5 жыл бұрын
I like Cortland lines and they make an Intermediate in Clear and comes in both 8 that 9 wt. If you’re on a budget, try their 444 Series Intermediate in clear.

Can you specified on retrieve for those flies on the video
@HeadFirstFishing6 жыл бұрын
Yonier Rio I'll have to track down cliff and ask.
@HeadFirstFishing6 жыл бұрын
"I use one of two…..a nice steady retrieve…not real fast and not real fancy…just nice and steady like a bait fish. Because of the lead eyes will also take the fly down and you can bounce it off the bottom to emulate a shrimp. By and large, I prefer the steady retrieve to mimic a baitfish. " Cliff Nigh
