Introducing a COLORFUL New Bubble Tip Anemone to My Nano Clownfish Aquarium

Just some info, the clowns don't actually build up an immunity to the stings. What they do is start to cover themselves in the mucus the anemone makes, once they get enough coverage the anemone starts seeing the clowns as just another tentacle so they don't trigger a sting (this mucus is also the reason the anemone does not sting itself). The funny dance the clown fish does is to ensure they keep themselves completely covered in the anemones mucus all the time. Remember this when handling the clowns with an anemone they are already hosting in, don't use a net to catch them if you are moving them with the host as this can lead to them getting caught by their host due to removing some of their protection with the net....

How long has your clown tank been running since you added the Chicago nem? I have a new 20-gallon tank that I want to add a nem to as well.

The tank is young which isn't normally recommended for nems. I'm right on the cusp of 5 months so I'm not too far off. I'd definitely add some fish before adding the nem so you get some nutrients into the tank. Do some quick research, I am by no means a nem expert so look around.

I’m also in Australia. This video was right up my alley because I also have a 10 gallon AIO dedicated to BTAs (and a single clownfish). It is really odd we don’t get more variety of BT anemones here - surely more colour varieties than the standard forest fire, green and green with orange tips are being collected. I guess they’re all exported.

He initially tried to sell his equipment, but after about 90 days of no real interest, he put it in his driveway with a FREE sign on it and posted it in our local club forum. I was lucky enough to snag the 60 Gal complete cube set up with a lot of high end equipment for free! Took my reef keeping to a whole new level...kessil lighting, Octo Regal skimmer, Maxspect gyre, the list goes on and on...thousands of dollars worth of equipment. His only request, that I pay if forward to someone else in the hobby in the future! I am a firm believer in the reefer code and will live by it!!!

TURBO SNAILS!
