I fell like if this becomes a fan game, Castform should be a Pokémon you get and keep through the journey, like Pikachu and Eevee. Considering the huge emphasis on weather I concur. It should be like a secondary starter., or even THE starter with options to get the three proper starters (whichever order you choose) at other points in the game as gifts. Maybe even actually accessing the legendaries in the post game requires you to have a cast form that has “logged” every weather type.

Speaking of new forms, I think it would be super cool to include three new Regis in this hypothetical region. Regigigas could have tried to create Regirock, Registeel and Regice, but because of the ever-changing weather conditions they could never maintain their original forms. Regirock becomes a new ground type Regi that's made up of sand, Registeel is a new fire type Regi made from dripping magma, and Regice also melted into a new water type Regi

Yeah, the Norloc amd Kaskade regions are really close together. In fact so is Unova & Alola. But that's just based on the real world setup, Oregon & Hawaii are both US States, Oregon actually has some deeply hidden Canadian Influences. Besides being just a state away from border Washington is kinda in the way. The Canadian Brand "Dare" sells down here alongside Oreos. And sometimes you get Canadian TV on Antenna. But the history is shared with the logging. Oregon's State Animal is also the Beaver & That is the National Animal for Canada. So I am not doubting the Kaskade & Norloc regions aren't friends. I also think it has some Kanto influences too because Japan is also a big thing Oregon's history.

I can see this being in a game. Halfway through the player's journey the professor calls them to his lab to let him see something (I don't know what, depends on the plot or smth), after that the player finds some stairs leading to the lab's basement full of amazing discoveries and scientific stuff. The player goes into a room and there is an old shelf full of dust and ariados' web, they find a tape and, as very curious human, they put it an old tv near the shelf... then this plays

The way I'd see it being incorporated is that this log was made a few years before the main trainer starts their journey. Amaze-All would spy on them as the video plays and use a Vibat and/or a Botnyak to destroy it so no evidence is left about the deal with the professor. And if the webs were to be included, it would be inhabited by Ariados, Spinarak, and other web shooting bug Pokemon as a nest. At least that's how I envisioned it.

Maybe Castform in this region could have a unique feature where it actively changes forms while in your party outside of battle. That way you get an accurate read on the conditions you're currently in at all times and can prepare accordingly for when you get into battles.

@@duddude321 It still has castform's stats, which stop it from being op. Steel type castform do be looking very powerful for doubles tho. Sets the steel type weather as an ability, which grands speed control and buffs accuracy and removes the one (minor) weakness. Probably not broken since you need to partner it with another steel type, but strong.

If this were an actual Pokémon game, I think it’s central theme it would be telling would be greed. Amaze-al is a greedy company, the professor sold Whirligigs for money (plot wise it would make sence) and the legendarys want full control over the Cascade region.

You reminded me of the Pokemon Ranger video that JaidenAnimations did. Amaze-al could create a tower that hypnotizes all the pokemon in the region or have multiple secret towers that affect different types of pokemon making them weaker in battle or disobedient until the tower is destroyed. When the player shows up with evidence of Amaze-al's doings (with rangers or police), a secret boss villain (Giovanni?) could appear and use Amaze-al technology to activate a secret machine that triggers an event with the legendaries.

That ghost type one is incredible. Imagine, you’re walking through the woods at night with only your partner pokemon as company. You feel as if you’re being watched just out of view. Thunder cracks and you jump from the nerves. Then a freezing howling wind blows and you feel even more terrified. You turn behind you to take comfort from your partner but instead see THAT. Truly terrifying.

Ok, hear me out I'm pretty sure Amaze-All are the villians, so they prolly want to catch Arctoyield and Manadza The steel item that changes Castform causes every other type of Weather to go away. So that could come handy when catching the Legendaries, as it could "turn off" their signature weathers. So my guess are: 1-They will use multiple Steel Castforms to battle them 2-They will use them to upgrade that cat-like machine that the Prof didn't know wether it is a Pkmn or not, maybe an Evolution Or 3-They migh create a new, artificial Legendary Pokemon powerfull enough to battle the Legendaries (ala Mewtwo, Genesect, Type: Full, or Magernea)

I guess yes DMax is also bad for the Pokemon, yet Galar built their entire culture around it, and people use it (even if they hate it cuz is broken af) The only good one was Z-Moves, and even then you are technically using pieces of Necrozma's body to do it, and that guy is barely surviving on it's own.

You've obviously already found yourself a really talented team of people to help you flesh out this great idea for a region, but there's a channel called Subjectively which are currently also doing their own Pokemon region and i think i'd be cool if you maybe did a collab of some sort, perhaps promoting each others regions. It works out really well since your region is based on the U.S and theirs is based on Mexico. So the two regions could even connect perhaps. Just some food for thought.

Welcome friends! I myself only got into his channel just last year. Yeah, a lot of his videos are centered around pokemon (there are other video game topics he has done so check those out too), but you'll learn so much more than just pokemon here. Lockstin dives deep into real-world inspirations all the time, either focusing on one type of pokemon, regions in pokemon games, or focusing on just a single pokemon's design and lore (like his previous video about Drednaw). He gets very detailed and goes above and beyond in his research. He's also recently made a 35 min video trying to figure out the algorithm used to determine shiny color, if one was used at all, and (holy crap!) is he thorough. He also has another channel called Azoth University, but hasn't uploaded there for a while. Still has a decent amount of content though. Psychic shoud be Polar lights, steel could be a meteor, lunar eclips could be dark, an erosion or earthquake could be ground type ,fairy could be a Rainbow ( rain + Sun) and dragon shoud be in the case, when all 9 planets are in a row (Very rare, depands on real life time, perhaps one time a month)

This was such an interesting way to announce new forms and even showing a few new forms that were created in a different way than regional variants. This series has made me fall in love with pokemon as well as fantasy in general and it's also given me inspiration for a story series I am planning to write so honestly thank you for this amazing series. So is the story for this region gonna be like “Amaze-All is using their tech to (by either transforming them or experimenting on them) make more robotic Pokémon so they can expand their business and make even more money throughout all the regions. They are going to extreme and downright inhuman lengths in order to convert all of these innocent Pokémon into something ‘useful’ for furthering their goals, and Mr. Bezal is going to go after one of the Legendary Pokémon in order to monopolize off of its weather changing effects and potentially control the climate of Kaskade. It will be up to the Protagonist to uncover Amaze-All’s plans and put an end to it, exposing Bezal and freeing the Pokémon that have been extorted” or something else like that or am I just tripping???

I could totally see one game having bezal try to take the summer legendary to use for crops and benefit himself, and the other game he tries to take the winter legendary to snuff out the competition. Then when the legendary is being trapped, their little chipmunk comes to the trainer for help

I have a theory for how ghost, dark, and bug type castform work. If the cursed winds are made up of souls, then castform may be mimicking a ghost so the ghosts won't bother his team. Another thing about the mist. About its color, it sounds a lot like that one movie from unova where you fight the mist's monsters. What if the mist is control by a certain being? I think it may the legend of buried alive due to his weird abilities. For the dark type, I think it actually raises the level beyond 100. Would explain why it doesn't listen, Pokémon past your threshold don't listen. I think it may be due to the blood moon. As for bug, I think its a parasite similar to the one on paras. That's my story on those types and the effects.

It’s interesting that Castform requires a held item to enter certain forms - and that there’s two different held items with very different effects, of course. Castform’s low stats mean that stuff like the Fighting form could very well not see competitive play were this ever to be real, which would be a shame, but I could really see tricks like Psychic Castform being a big-time supportive strategy. I do feel that it’s probably important to bring up that I’m a bit confused as to how Castform enters the Ground Form? I think you said something about dust devils, but it kind of got lost. It’s also interesting that it relies on the _opponent_ to set up the condition that switches it to Rock. Very situational, but there’s a few Dig strats out there, yeah? Not so sure about Fairy Castform. That sounds like a recipe for stall to me, but Castform just doesn’t have the stats for stall. All in all, good work. It’s interesting to see all the different conditions that have to exist for Castform to change type, particular Cursed Winds - that smells like Lavender Town to me, which could be a recipe for disaster or _disaster._ Also, don’t think you slipped that 420-69 by us, buster. _Nice._

LegendVenoct shuppet definitely does have a similar aesthetic form, but doesn’t really connect to weather in the way that this castform variant does so I feel like this design is a much stronger example. Plus multiple Pokémon can be based around the same concept

I still think it's a too similar of a concept; Shuppet is also a teru teru bozu relating to ominous wind, hence one of it's learnable egg moves/move tutor (normal form castform can learn it from a move tutor, but a bunch of others, like Flygon, can learn it too, so I don't think move tutor counts). (counterclaim) However using teru teru bozu as a concept to influence weather effects is much stronger indeed.
