Introducing bHaptics Tactglove

Today we’re excited to announce the launch of Tactglove. Our official demo used Meta's open-source project 'First Hands', and further developed using the Interaction SDK provided. Also, we would like to leave special thanks to 'Cook-Out' team from Resolution Games, inspired us by creating the amazing interaction scheme.

When you get a huge catalog of games supporting: (speaking for Quest 2) after the fall, resident evil 4, contractors, onward, tactical assault vr, into the radius, green hell, saints & sinners, oblivion after life, grid legends, job simulator, golf+, forevr pool, racket fury, first person tennis, crisis brigade, tea for the gods.. and the *countless* others I forget to mention.. I will instantly buy - but I will not buy, if there is not a HUGE catalog of games. I wish you all the success, because I really want these!

Unfortunately you're gonna be waiting a long while for that, even Q3 cam tracking has little support. Softwere development and investment is a numbers game. You wanna target the largest possible demographic with the least amount of investment to get as much returns as possible (The goal is to make money afterall). This mindset drives most developers away from VR in general outside of tacked on functionality (usually the stock engine toolkit such as those provided with unity). Its the same deal with FBT, vary few things actually support it and those who actively invest into it are people who spend 99% of their free time sitting in VRC.

the thing is adding support is so easy its really up the the devs caring. I asked the dev for V-Speedway to add bhaptic and after a short time it was added fully. dev said It wasn't hard and bhaptic themselves said it was another yt video they want to make it easy to add support I assume since they don't do it themselves. I need the guitar game with hand tracking supported!!

If this is the case they why don't any of the Quest level "AAA games" like RE4, Iron man, Saints and sinners, or anything with a special IP license ever get Bhaptics support? It's only the smaller team devs interested in bhaptics and it makes no sense to me why?

​@@En1gmatic1 My guess would be that there's two reasons. 1) while it might be easy, it is not absolutely 0 effort. And the bigger companies might just conclude that the cost of that small effort isn't worth it when only a very small demographic has the hardware. It's more worth it to just pump out mobile games and micro transaktions. For AAAs, money is top priority. 2) big companies have a lot of beaucracy, making decision making a long process. Maybe they just haven't reached the decision to use it yet. They often make plans years ahead

If they support being used by the valve index then I'm all for it. Quest 2 is very limited capability wise, most vr gloves are outside of the average consumer. However if they offer support with headsets other than the quest then I would get them.

They do. There are more support for bhaptics on the PC than the quest. Also you can mod games that don't have native support on the PC to use with their stuff

As with any quest unit most of your support is gonna come through VD or steamlink. Under that same sense you could use Index controllers and light houses with a Quest HMD if you wanted (just dont expect support in standalone). Your limitation issues are really gonna come from the titles themselves.

The most obvious question I guess: which games will support the gloves, what are the plans for supporting games with existing native or mod support of bhaptics devices? Would be an instant buy for me if it supports games like HLA, Skyrim VR, Into the radius, Ancient Dungeon etc…

Controllers also vibrate, and these gloves have no buttons? I would buy these if they had force feedback. If it's meant to be used with hand tracking for the quest only, then its use cases are very limited for 300 dollars.

lmao what a ripoff, a full bodysuit with bunch of motors has same price as a glove with small vibration motor ON THE TIP ONLY. You guys are really down bad for being the only company that monopolize haptics.

No built in hand tracking so kind of a big miss for me. Would be more interested if bhaptics made something simmilar to the ContactCloves by DiverX so it had native hand tracking without cameras, but with these haptic motors.

The new TactGlove DK2 is compatible with camera-based hand tracking. However, we currently have a limited selection of games that support the gloves.

its a bit confusing, their website says " For non-developers, we do NOT recommend purchasing TactGlove DK1 (Pair) due to its current lack of native support." it doesnt say what device, but clearly they are testing with quest 2 and quest 2 pro. so how much real support does this have?

The TactGlove DK2 works with VR/AR headsets using camera-based hand tracking, like Meta Quest and Varjo XR (with Ultraleap). Note: hand tracking on Meta Quest is only available in standalone mode, not PCVR. Let us know if you have more questions!

Looks cool but hand tracking games have poor locomotion. I don't know how it can be done but haptic gloves with an analog stick would really bridge the gap.

We bought some but there are like no tutorials out there for set up. Just raw documentation. They should make it abundantly clear how to get it to work with quest 2, vs HoloLens 2, and Vive (since those headsets are advertised in this video)

Really interested to see how well these play with the Index. Adding haptic responses to my avatar in NeosVR should be very interesting, especially since everything else natively works so well. Dumb question: Can the bHaptics player have multiple applications connected? I ask since I might need to write my own handler for the hands by themselves.

You guys need to get with more devs on the quest to help make more compatible games. Really push for it? I don't know... Also I wish there is a second generation of the arms in development. When I play games like thrill of the fight I am always having issues with the arms sliding up or down without basically cutting off my circulation from making them so tight

I own a bunch of bhaptics gear. Dont worry. The battery actually lasts forever. They are rating it on constant use where in game the haptics are only triggered when needed thus longer battery life.
