"Im learning some japanese", sorry mate but "sama" there was like an additive to her title, not "say please", dont try to learn japanese from funi's subs because theyre really bad and change a lot of context and over localize jokes that lose meaning. Example: Franky had a word play with being called a "pervert" in EL and W7 that was completely removed from the subs, they dont want americans even finding out japanese is a thing, also a lot of titles and words they translate lost meaning and were never translated in the 20 years prior to them doing it, I recommend not basing it off them.

Boa Hancock speaks like royalty in Japanese. She uses the royal pronoun "We" in Japanese would be "Warawa" instead of "I.""Warawa" is an archaic feminine form. Originally it was humble and self-effacing (the kanji means "concubine"), but in modern historical anime/novels/etc. it's used by female characters of high social standing (usually royals or aristocrats) with old-fashioned speech patterns.

Thanks for the great reaction. I want to explain about the "family jewels" joke for better understanding, when Luffy said "balls" to the Amazons, was the japanese word "kintama", "kin" means "gold" and "tama" is "ball", so the real term was "golden balls" and not only balls, that's why had the funny golden light scene, but the subtitles put "family jewels" instead to focus on the "gold" meaning. That joke also was in Skypiea Arc, when Enel made Luffy fall from his flying ship with a stuck golden ball, and from the scene Luffy got up from that fall and lifting the heavy golden ball Luffy said "Man, this "kintama" is really heavy" and the little girl named Aisa whose was with Luffy yelled "Don't say weird things like that!!" (because the little girl supposely knew this street slang, just for this funny moment). And you also can ask, why Japan people says "golden ball", maybe cause the Japan likes the concept of fertility, have childen is a blessed thing and they probably use the "kintama" joke in many comedy TV shows. Thanks for the attention, I just wanted you guys had fun with this Amazon kintama scene with better accurate subtitles.

Everyone has their own agenda in this anime. Even every straw hat pirates has their own agenda. Finding all blue, draw the world map, learning the void century history, being the greatest swordsman.. Not just villain, the side characters, like smoker, ace, black beard, and not to mention luffy's father and his gang who want to rebel the world government. It is one of the reason that makes one piece be the undisputed king of world building. Not just in the manga but all literary works like movies, tv series, novel etc.

Big brother is someone older than you but still young like when people say this dude is a real "bro" (oniisan, aniki, peter-ni), Uncle is someone who is older than you but he is not that young anymore (Oji-san, ji-san, ossan for example Kizaru no Ossan that Sentoumaru called the admiral)... and a grandpa (ojii-san, jii-san, jiji) means just something like saying old man Sam (Sam-ji, Sam-jiisan, etc)

They are in all shapes and sizes...!!!! And still so many people complain about how there is no difference between women designs in this anime... Granted... most of the main and most of the secondary characters are more aesthetically pleasing to the young male demographic... but come on... the show is aimed at that demographic... I would actually say it is quite the opposite... There is so much variety in that regard in the show that it amazes me... Even if the most "important" or rather the people that are in the show more often do stay within a certain design... But come on... being realistic... It is also a business and what do you expect would sell more? Of course i won't even try to defend how the designs of those hourglasses could possible be realistic thou...

You talked about luck in this video, and I want to mention my theory, or perhaps just a way of thinking about it (also in answer to Erza, theorizing is how we make it from week to week). I think of luck in One Piece as a sort of attribute of the strong-willed. Zoro talks about luck multiple times and I think he recognizes it to some degree. He knows he's lucky, as he mentioned when testing his own luck against the curse of his sword Kitetsu when he first got it. It's more than just random chance. It's like those with strong enough will can unconsciously bend the world in their favor in circumstances. All the Straw Hats are lucky in terms of survival/victory, but they're not alone. Or perhaps it's better to call it fate. Like, just looking at his fellow supernovas, all of the 100-million bounties of this generation all come together on the same archipelago at the same time and they all keep running into each other despite there being like 70 islands. Of course, the more likely answer is that Oda just doesn't let things like "that's too big a coincidence" hinder him from doing something anyway because he thinks it would make the story more interesting or exciting

I survive week to week by having other things to watch/read during the week... and with one piece i see the reactions of other people watching older episodes on youtube... I only watch the anime AFTER the full arc is over since i hate how slow the pacing is in the newest arcs in the anime... newer episodes cover about 75% of one manga chapter when the regular average of other anime series is 2-3 chapters per episode... There are about 3 manga chapters per month... and there are 4 episodes of the anime per month after all... but watching them accumulated after i already read the manga that is fine since i want actually feel the story advancing there...

@@lukeizabelle2131 I think (and I am not so sure because I haven't seen the latest anime arc since it is not finished yet) it is because the have been adding a bit of fillers during the flashback so instead of padding inch chapters to make an episode... they have been padding a few episodes with filler to use create a couple of episodes that require no manga... Might have been just a coincidence that the episode I did see had too much filler though...

@@lukeizabelle2131 yeah I understood you don't worry about that... I also have checked out the new art when it started so I get that it is very good compared to the last few arcs... And sagas... And decades of episodes... XD The fact that the episodes caught up with the anime actually means that the anime is really going slower... Since having mostly covered more chapters per episode for a good part of it's runtime at the beginning... For the anime to catch up to the manga chapters numbers... The chapters would now have to do the opposite and have multiple episodes per chapter when you think about it... But it is also true that not all episodes take half a chapter but also some episodes may take two chapters depending on the contents... Some fights are easier to elongqte by having some extra punches and waits in between those punches... While some conversations are just short and simple and can't be stalled. Some memories can be padded by flashbacks of prior episodes, some gruop shots can be lenghtened by panning the camera and adding music and close-ups... Plenty of tricks to keep a 1 to 1 ratio for a while but the sad truth is that there are so many of a breaks in the manga that the anime has to stall at certain points... In the case of the newest arc that has been, to the best of my knowledge from what I did watch, by adding a certain detour to an island that was not in the manga to stop for groceries for example in a certain flashback and having some hijiks there. So Naruto style filling episode in between cannon episodes.... Might not be the case in other episodes and that just happened to be the case for the one I did watch thou...

I have noticed something that the subs that they are using are different than what I had seen. And I would say mine were more impactful and accurate. For Example - luffy's last line " these guys have powers" were actually "they are devil fruit users". Which I think would work better here.

Well when this was airing, I was still a kid but one piece wasn't airing in America anymore. So it helps if your a kid who doesn't have to worry about adult responsibility. Sama does not mean please... It is the honorific at the end of the name... like san, or chan... but super-respectful since she is the empress of the island... Nyon-ba (the ba means old woman)... was not adding the Sama at the end as an honorific.. meaning she was putting the empress in the same level as her since not even the regularly respectful SAN was used... So the empress was telling her something more like MIND YOUR MANNERS and call me "your majesty" but from a japanese grammar point of view, not a literal one... But since all that does not exist in English and the subs you are watching do not add honorifics to the names (at least not in this episodes).. the subs decided to translate that piece of the conversation as if Nyonba had not been saying PLEASE (not being respectful)...

How does one function in the real world? ENDLESS speculation. Edit: Also I do think I know what annoys Erza about Nami and Robin. My sister is the same. As soon as you pull the "damsel-in-distress card" she looses a lot of respect for the character. FWIW I don't think Robin really does, it's mostly that (as the calmest member) when she's scared; it's bad (even if the others don't realize it). Nami does it as a lazy or manipulative move. Origin stories and recruitment arcs don't count. Every Strawhat was saved by Luffy and had it rough as a kid (or post-mortem in Brooks case). 2nd Edit: There will be episodes where you have to take in a lot of information. This wasn't really one of them. I think the publisher warned the fans at one point that it would be a lot to take in. Well, you'll find out. I look forward to your reaction.
