I plugged in my new 16i16 yesterday and started listening to some music… immediately had to figure out what converters were being used. The DA is amazing. Seriously blown away… I used an Antelope Orion Studio for years, and I’m pretty sure this is on par with that box. People are so lucky to have this sound quality available at such a reasonable price.

Essentially, yes. Scarlett 16i16 is very similar to 8i6, in terms of inputs and outputs, but it also includes ADAT I/O and the option to be USB/bus-powered.

@@FocusriteTV Just ordered the 16i16 to replace my 8i6 3rd gen for that very reason. Plus the rednet converters, ADAT I/O, clip safe, more mic gain and the Focusrite Control 2 software are all a nice to have ;-)

I just found out, my Scarlett+ 4Pre has no Loopback. I'm so pissed right now.

Clarett+ 4Pre doesn't have a dedicated Loopback feature like our new Scarlett 4th Gen range does but you can create a physical loopback by connecting your Clarett+ 4Pre's S/PDIF Input and Output ports using an S/PDIF RCA to RCA cable, and effectively then use the S/PDIF Inputs as your "Loopback" channels.

The original Scarlett range still utilise Scarlett Mix Control. Those audio interfaces don't have any features that require the use of Focusrite Control 2, so won't be detected by the software if installed.

What kind of setup did you have in mind? Scarlett 18i20 is certainly capable of 5.1 playback. Using the Focusrite Control 2 Mixer, you can send input sources to the physical outputs of 18i20. For 5.1 playback, you could assign playback channels 1-6 to line outputs 1-6.

For mixing in a DAW and scenarios where you can route audio to the available analogue outputs this will be possible but general desktop audio playback from Windows won't be routed this way

The original Clarett range was replaced with Clarett+ which features superior specifications when compared to Scarlett 4th Gen, particularly in terms of dynamic range, frequency response, maximum input level, THD+N and EIN.

Most interface makers are stuck in the past. There's such a huge demand for interfaces that serve project studios that have need for lot's of line ins and not so many mic pre's. Arturia gets it. Motu has some options.

Scarlett's inputs are designed to recieve signals from microphones via XLR and line/instrument-level signals via 1/4" TRS/TS
