I have to say, I've been buying up synths over the last few years because of the prices dropping & analogue comin' back (I own a "Boog" 20 years ago, I'd've never believed I'd have anything close to Moog at home), but the KORG MONOLOGUE is the crown jewel of my collection! The easiest sequencer ever, the sonic capabilities endless & it's just a beautiful, BEAUTIFUL SYNTH! if you're thinking about buying one, Do it!! They are OUTSTANDING!!! 🧡🙃

I just got mine and it is awesome! A lot of clever features in such a small package. I love the super powerful and insanely fast LFO, it's great for sound design and it can even do funky Talking Bass patches! And with the LFO having a 1 shot mode it frees up the envelope letting you lots of cool percussive things. And the Envelope is so clever too, I thought it was just an AD envelope, but that third mode basically turns it in to a ADS envelope and makes this a super quick synth to make Synth Bass patches with. Just such a brilliant design, so many clever little features that make this synth way more than the sum of its parts.

Amazingly design. Big congrats on that. I just got one yesterday and it sounds amazing. The menu is super well layout and designed, the sequencer is sooooo cool, and its sound pallete is simply unbelievable. Thanks so much for designing such an addictive music creation and sound design device.

As someone that has a lot of the classic synths companies are currently emulating and bringing back in hardware, Korg is the only company making anything new that I feel like I need to have/get excited about. Of course I'm just speaking for myself because I own a lot of those other synths already and know how exciting it must be for people that don't but I want/need "new" things

Yeah, it's just showing it off, but the text below has a fairly elaborate description of what I've done. While the design itself isn't to everybodys taste, the techniques can be applied to create pretty much any design you can think of.
@Zinfidel18 жыл бұрын
I don't need it but I'll probably pick one up in a few years because it sounds good and it's cheap. Before, when I had to recommend first synths to someone it was kind of difficult. Many of the other synths in the $300 price range have an equal amount of pros and cons.... The Monologue changes everything. It's analog, has patch saves, has a drive effect, has sequencer, has motion recording. It's clear to everyone Korg and Tatsuya aren't resting on past successes and are quickly becoming the synth company of the people. Now if they could just put out a better Electribe than the frustrating new ones and perhaps dip their toes into the eurorack world.

My little red devil is the one monosynth I'd never sell. It's quirky features make it very different than most monosynths. It is my go to synth when I get an idea. The limited envelope hasn't really been an issue to me after years of frequent use. It is a limitation but I think one than often works in its favor as much as against it. I still love it and it has prime placement on my keyboard stand.

Interesting styles with Korg as usual. I like the micro tuning, I don't find myself using that as often as I would like, the synthesizers I have allow these features, unless of course one is a hacker and no features needed(not me) The showcase of the oscillator is cool, that's the new thing these days, I thought about that concept years ago. I should have utilized that information with my brain at the time to construct it into a synthesizer. People will eat it up, I'm still using the poly 800. That suits me alright, but one day I'll switch up the Korg styles for a new Korg, who knows where I'll go, I probably do. This synthesizer has a good sound.

Why can't patterns be chained like they can on an Evolver? Why limit patterns to 16 steps when implementing something as simple as allowing patterns to transition smoothly (when changing patches while the sequencer is playing) would allow as many steps as the user would like?

I want to be able to record the sounds coming from the monologue to my software would I need a sound card or something completely different? Pls help

What can the Volca Bass do that this can't? Or vice versa? I don't think I need both.
@GT6SuzukaTimeTrials8 жыл бұрын
So this makes a crunchier bassline than the Volca?
@thimkthimk8 жыл бұрын
Way crunchier because it has the distortion circuit (and way more tonal variation). Volca Bass is cool though, because the 3 oscillators can be sequenced polyphonically which is pretty neat. I'm in much the same position, and I think both have neat features. But like Icomment says, sound quality and build in the Monologue are significantly better. Has keyboard, decently sized knobs etc. And the Monologue has a great sequencer, microtuning... It's kind of a no-brainer for bass.
@vedabou8 жыл бұрын
I understand the monologue as some kind of volca bass evolution.
@thimkthimk8 жыл бұрын
It seems more of a Minilogue optimised for bass, sound wise that is. Volca Bass has 3 VCOs (Saw or Square) while the Monologue has 2 VCOs (Saw, Triangle, Square). Not to discredit your idea though. They both have 16 step sequencers, so that relationship is there.
@GT6SuzukaTimeTrials8 жыл бұрын
I think there's room for both. One can never have too many synths :)

Dear Korg guys, can you help me? I can't seem to find an answer even in manual.... Can i record notes in step sequencer and while they are playing back, play over it with different sound? Can't find tutorial on KZbin. It seems like you can either play solo without recorded playback or just record notes into sequencer? Can you guys ahed some light? I almost bought the Monologue but then stopped myself....
@NamelessSmile Жыл бұрын
No I don't think so, the sequencer records the notes you play, and then plays them back into the synth. I think you can record the changes of some of the knobs alongside the notes though
@NamelessSmile Жыл бұрын
As in, it is a note 'sequencer', it isn't a 'looper' (which is probably what you're describing) that records audio rather than note names

wow fuck off. some of us (millennials) are already outclassing old timer musicians making actual music. and "making noises" was basically the central thesis to john cage's compositions and many challenging mid-20th century composers. in fact, cage's philosophy was that there was no such thing as a distinction between music and noise. don't write off my whole generation based on your limited window of perception.
