We have to do this at some point. Right now our two are sharing a fence line. I’m so nervous about putting them together! We just had to move a newer gilt up to the farrowing pen through our area where our first sow is and they even got in a fight! 😩 I also had someone strongly advise me to not get more than one boar and that it can be super dangerous for us and all of that. I realize they are animals and we always have to stay aware but after she kept telling me how bad of an idea it was it made me a bit nervous. Obviously we did it anyway lol but I don’t want a seriously injured or dead pig.

I understand, but honestly theres no need to be nervous; it will be fine in the end. And we currently have about 15 boars together in our "boar paddock." No danger to us or our children. The only thing I suggest is not to try and 'break up' a boar fight once it has started. You could get hurt, but it wouldn't be intentional or directed at you from the boars themselves. You could just get knocked down or cut by a tusk. But even then, they wouldn't attack you or anything like that

@@kunekunepigs4461 thank you! What about putting new, older gilts/sows together? I assume they will also establish a pecking order?

Yes, he thinks his job is to watch over, referee, and even playfully harass the animals sometimes lol...he's a great farm dog
