I will agree about taking some of the skill away. As the name implies, I run rc cars, and a lot of them use slipper clutches. So instead of learning finger control (you still need some) you set it so you don't wheelie or blow the tires off. Before you tear into me, lol, I do understand there are some differences. This is a similar style of clutch that is used in a lot of drag racing including top fuel (they just use more clutch discs and floaters) but the concept is the same/similar

Nice vid, all killa no filla! Funny how everybody's struggling to understand how this clutch works. It's basically a clutch with very light pressure at idle, but that grabs harder the faster you spin it. Sort of a best-of-both-worlds hybrid between a regular clutch and a full centrifugal clutch (which are *not* user friendly).

Old Fords, pre 1960, had clutches with weights on the levers much like this clutch. They weren't designed to slip. They were designed for easier release. You could use lighter springs in the housing and still have good engagement at higher rpm.

Bike stays in the lower gear while shifting into the next gear then when the output shaft speeds up it pushes it out of the lower gear (because back side of the dogs are angled to push the gears apart)... Down side is, if you let off of the throttle while in any auto gear (enough to cause engine-braking, without pulling clutch in) it bends the shift fork when the gears get pushed apart...

@@bobfalfa76 Put down your Smart Phone and tell me how that Rotary Dial phone works out for you🤣 Not sure if you mean me or Garrett? but I've never gotten (or wanted) anything for nothing and it only makes sense to use anything that's within the rules to keep up with the competition (and or break/set records)... A lot of people still think delay boxes shouldn't be legal but it's "stupid" not to use one if it's legal in the class your running (if you want to win more than a round or two against racers that have a box)... My slider clutch "paid for itself" the first year I had it (without 2-step or delay box) and I won back-to-back Track Championships at Moroso Motorsports Park (PBIR) after putting a delay box on my Pro ET Bike... Imagine where Top Fuel would be if Computers weren't allowed??? (SLOW-er and leaving way more parts all over the track than they do now)...

@@KCadbyRacing Well I don't own a smart phone and there's nothing wrong with rotary phones, they got the job done for many yrs. My point though is that Garrett never really learned how to properly shift a stick car, he was so scared to miss a gear that he did and bought everything possible in order to make it easier for him. When you have an abundance of electronics and babysitters in something it takes most of the skill away. You're not racing, you're just waiting and hanging on. I don't have a problem with slider clutches, they definitely have their place, more so on bikes imo but he doesn't need one yet, he is once again buying his way out of something he can't do himself.

I run an STM clutch slipper clutch on Panigale V4 Speciale. it really makes a difference. You can tune for your riding style or in your case driving I always start with a heavy clutch and work to where i find the sweet spot on weights it seems a bit faster than light to heavy
