I've been working on a new way to help you in your art for those who want more than just youtube videos. My site is now live, so please come take a look! It's still brand new and has lots of room to grow, but I'm just so excited to share it with you

Have to comment again. I am working my way through this course. It is beyond expert. I am talking if anyone really wants to learn how to paint light, they need to take your course. This is something that needs to be shared in every school art class. It is just amazing to be working through this instruction.

Hi! May I ask which course did you take? I'm thinking of taking a course but don't know if I should take beginner or intermediate, as I already have some basics.. thanks a lot

So exciting! You are such a nice guy and a great teacher so I can’t wait to start this program. Like many others it was my dream to work in Pixar projects but my life took a different turn, and I am happy with it. I learned Maya back in 2000s. I never lost my enthusiasm about art and I am working with watercolors. My work progressed after watching just a few videos you shared. I follow along not with iPad but paper and watercolors, it is a bit more challenging to figure out desaturate certain pigments but it is hell of a lot more fun. 🤗

Sooo excited! I'm definitely saving money for one of your courses. It's such a great opportunity and I want to take the chance and improve my drawings by finally understanding colors and light. Thank you so much for working on this!

Thank you for being a great teacher! The price is affordable compared to other mentorships in the US. I'm an aspiring artist and I live in a developing country and this amount would take me a long time to save. I hope I can get to have this opportunity one day. :)

Awesome, I'll definitely check out one of the courses when I have time! Suggestion for the website; the website uses mainly black/blue/white, which gives a clean look, but also a cold atmosphere. You might want to incorporate some warm colors (beyond the paintings presented) to break that up, as well as bringing in images of you painting (Such as the image in the "SEMINARS" section). Good luck with this new endeavor!

I've been really enjoying your videos! One question regarding the courses and workshops: I'm an oil painter and don't paint digitally (yet). Would you say it's possible to do the courses painting on canvas or should it definitely be digital?
@LightingMentor
@LightingMentor Жыл бұрын
Hi Clayson. I think this first course will have lots of information that is valuable to understanding light no matter what medium you're using (digital or traditional). But all of the assignments are definitely focused on digital workflows and not all of the methods will work traditionally. I do cover all of the basics of painting digitally though if you want to learn more about digital art

I would love to see you make a video about light and reflection on metallic surfaces like on a car or trash can in both day and night due to things like cars becoming so much more reflective at night

Hi Jeremy!! I can't thank you enough for these courses, I've learned SO much already from your youtube videos, especially your color studies series, (a lot more than I was taught in my 4 years in art school😅) so truly, thank you. I have a question, does the information on the painting light 101 course expand a lot more on the concepts you've already so kindly taught us in your videos o is it more like all those concepts put together in 1 course? I've already noticed a big improvement in the way I see color & light and applying it to my art thanks to binging your videos, so I'm trying to figure out whether the 101 course would still help me expand on that knowledge or if I should maybe wait until the 102 course is available so I can afford it instead 🤔 Thank you again and keep up the amazing work!!❤

Hi Raquel! I am so happy that my videos have been helpful!! Yay! These are the kinds of comments that prove it was all worth it. So Painting Light 101 does cover some similar topics to what I show in my youtube videos, but I go much deeper and have assignments that will help make sure these concepts are really utilized. Painting Light 102 covers things that I have not yet spoke about in the youtube videos and will be far more challenging. I hope that helps!

🙌 hell yeah! I am so fascinated by the huge screens on the set of Westworld. Did it feel like living in another world when you were on set? Did sunlight feel weird?? Or perhaps sunlight recharged you? Sun rays are pretty important for animals. Anyway, I would not call myself a painter nor an illustrator 😅 but I love your channel, and I bet you’re a fantastic mentor. ❤ your future students will be super lucky to have you. thank you

Thanks Paula! Yes, it was really amazing being on set on one of those stages. I didn't add it into the video as it's not widely public yet but I also worked on another big tv series and was on an even bigger stage for 6 weeks in New York last summer. It's fascinating tech and is really fun to see the industry of games and film starting to merge into one new entity

the white on black text of your descriptions and testimony sections is too small, which makes it difficult to read. White text on black is known to cause these problems, so you can size it up until it's legible, or change the colour. Good luck on the courses, I suggest elaborating on the skills/topics you'll get into for the available course, because that's pretty expensive. That's almost a year with schoolism, which would be your major competitor.
@LightingMentor
@LightingMentor Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Great feedback. I just scaled up that text a bit for hopefully it's more legible. Yes, I thought a lot about pricing and I can't compete with Schoolism at this point as I don't have 20,000 people subscribed and 50 different courses. Maybe after a year or so I can switch to a subscription plan like they have and lower the cost per course. But for interactive feedback of my Workshops I am definitely cheaper that Schoolism by hundreds of dollars, so if you'd like feedback on your work and get to meet with other artist I hope I am very competitive. I also offer one-on -one mentorship that they don't do at all, so I hope that's attractive as well. There are so many different ways to do business so this is an interesting experiment. I just hope I can provide great help to artist as well as be sustainable for the future to keep doing this for years to come :) Thanks again for the feedback
