I just got this pedal, and I have to say that you really need to hear and more importantly feel this thing under your fingers. The available frequencies are perfect and all very very sweet and musical…nothing ice pick going on here even with the KCS at 1.3. What I have tried so far is Cali76>M-EQ>Revival Drive (Orange, setup like a Vox). Cali76>M-EQ>Deluxe61, and both sound absolutely gorgeous. I mean, let’s face it, having a damn good approximation of an 1176 and a Pultec on your board is bound to produce classic tones. Running this into the center dry of a w/d/w rig with three early 70s Marshalls. Insane tone at any volume. Simon is clearly a genius.

Recently picked this one up and I’m loving it for low/medium gain. The adaptive circuit really works and it’s so great. The pedal is very dynamic and the adaptive circuit makes it even more so. Beautiful sparkling clean tone, warm dirty tone, and many shades between, all available with a twist of the guitar volume and picking dynamics. I’ve bought and sold the RD Compact and Hot Rod Compact. Didn’t bond with either of them because they don’t have a midrange control. This one solves that problem for me, and I absolutely love the way it breaks up. This is a real gem. I don’t think there’s anything quite like it on the market. Great demo. Great pedal.

Sounds like quite a unique OD sound. Got the Halcyon with adapt tech and makes a massive difference. Will be picking up this pedal.

I’ve got all their pedals except the Halcyon and this one. I’m a fan but I recently bought a 20 watt Marshall head SV20H !! I don’t need any OD pedals. I’m 😊still keeping my Origins just in case and I’ll probably get these two!!

Just pulled the trigger on this having seen some excellent demos. My hope is that it will help add some mids and clarity to my Mesa boogie F30 amp. It's a great amp but a little dark sounding. I really hope this will make things interesting...

@@elvarwinston Not too bad at all thanks! Could definitely hear a boost to the mids. I'm not good at all with tone shaping so I think that if I improve on it then this pedal will yield even better results. But I'm very pleased indeed so far 👍

If you want a really powerful eq, the thorpy team medic is incredibly powerful. The buffer is great and really increases clarity. You do have to be a lot more careful with it than the m eq as it is easy to make the team medic sound bad

In regards to the adapt tech. Does having a buffer or compressor in front of it change how it behaves?
@OriginEffectsUK
@OriginEffectsUK Жыл бұрын
It won't affect it, the M-EQ has an internal buffer anyway

I've just pulled the trigger on one and waiting for it to arrive. Do most use as a solo boost or general rhythm playing?

The Hamstead Zenith has combined compressor, DQ-Boost, and this in one unit. But no OD. I ended up with the Origin collection of three units. Love them but realize how similar the Zenith is.
@OriginEffectsUK

The Zenith is a cool pedal. As with all these things, there's a million ways to do similar jobs. The Zenith is going to be a vastly different circuit for each of those jobs.

I have the Halcyon, the Magma57, Deluxe61, Revival Drive and the Cali76; do I need the M-EQ Driver? 🤔

@@andrestrat I'm still experimenting with the Magma, Deluxe and Halcyon at the moment as I've only had them a few weeks. I'm also looking into buying a Fryette PS-2 as I only play in my bedroom. I feel then I could get a more informed result as to how these pedals really sound. The Cali is always on, as is my Dispatch Master. I have several more modulation pedals such as the POG2 and Mutron Micro-Tron IV. I have many more pedals besides; overkill, I know. 😂

My favourite pedal is the Deluxe 61. I bought this several months ago and it remains my favourite. However, I think you are pushing the bounds of credulity with your pricing of this EQ/boost pedal. I would probably pay £150 for it, but not over £200.
@OriginEffectsUK

Being made in the UK and being quite a complicated circuit, the price of our pedals simply reflect their build and production costs.
@pegasusstation4977
@pegasusstation4977 Жыл бұрын
@@OriginEffectsUK don't think the production costs stack up, unless you are saying it takes 2 or 3 days to assemble one pedal, which I doubt.

@@pegasusstation4977 Genuine question as I don't. What experience do you have in building and marketing to make such a comment? I'd argue with the component cost, the fact its a completely new circuit not just a boost eq, the fact its all made in the UK and after the distributors, shops etc need a cut that in todays market for a high end pedal £215 seems reasonable. I mean take a Ibanez TS808 those are close to £200 these days, which is silly. I just don't think the price is bad at all but it is all just opinion especially from someone like myself that has zero experience in any of the areas mentioned above.

@@daviddorrian5349 I own a software development company in UK. We are not huge but we do very well. I know the cost of marketing, R&D, sales, equipment, premises etc etc. I know origin effects pedals are extremely good products, however it does seem to be overkill on the pricing. In fact, I think all pedals are way over priced, especially considering that many pedals on the market today are at a similar price to a good valve amp. All smacks of profiteering, I'm not pointing the finger directly at Origin Effects, all pedal manufacturers are doing it. Almost like it's a cartel where everyone has colluded to keep the prices artificially high.
@daviddorrian5349

@@pegasusstation4977 Ah fair play to you, you clear have a lot of experience in this stuff. Again coming from someone who doesn't have this experience I do also think the pedal market is getting insane price wise. You are right you can get a nice amp for the price of some pedals. I think the word "Boutique" get banded around way too much too, not from orgin effects though to be fair which is a company I would attached that term to. All in all I do agree with you orgins pedals are outstanding and all the pedal companies are just getting silly with their prices but if they can charge it and people pay I don't really blame them. Its the way of the world these days isn't it.
