I dont know dude. But that pultec EQ (usually) was used for a fine tune after the cabinet. Why should we used that in front of/in fx loop of an amplifier? Does that redundant because the eq coloring in the end would be by amplifier or mic preamp (studio context) ?
@OriginEffectsUK
@OriginEffectsUK Жыл бұрын
@@Bilsuburbians We've basically taken the Pultecs circuit and EQ curves, turning it into a versitile Mid-Booster and Drive pedal for guitar. It can be used for amp-like mid-forward drive tones. Like a Traditional OD but more tweakable, a different more valve-like style of overdrive characteristic and with the addition of our adaptive circuitry for fattering tones at any drive level.

It's only a matter of time before Origin visits the Treble Booster circuit, and that will be a happy day for mankind

The M-EQ behaves in a similar way, especially if you crank the mid control. With the adaptive circuit engaged you get a sparkling clean tone when you roll back the guitar volume. I love me a good treble booster, but I think I prefer the M-EQ. Just as dynamic, but smoother and more tweakable.

This has become my favorite OD pedal. I had been using a Boss SD-1 for years, and I still love that pedal, but the semi-parametric mid control, adaptive circuit, and cut control really sets the M-EQ apart from other OD pedals. Great pedal, great demo!

I love the playing AND I love the pedal. I have plenty of overdrives and other gain pedals, so when something comes up and you feel like it would really help with all the sounds you already have, then you know it's something good. ❤️

It's a cool idea I'd like to hear more about studio concepts brought down to the level of pedals that can be used with amps. Lately I've been experimenting with a compressor in the effects loop to even out volume differences between a crunch channel and a clean channel, or between neck and bridge pickups or between single coils and humbuckers. And that's sort of the irony guitarists brag about dynamics all day long as if they're a good thing but when it comes down to good sound it needs to be squashed and leveled.

Man, I love Origin Effects stuff. I use the hardware Pultec EQ's for mastering every day and I love what they do for music. Having the eq circuit pushing a drive circuit centering on different mid eq is a great idea, and in this demo sounds awesome overall. I wonder how it would sound going into my RevivalDrive? Maybe not, but it might sound cool stacked like that.

I see it as a tool like an EQ. To be honest when it was used to tighten up a very clean sound I thought it sounds thin and scratchy. I own a few OD's like a Tube Screamer and Fuzz pedals where I put them on a setting that sounds like a hippo fart but stacked on a really good OD they can add killer girth to the sound.

Can this be used as a boost? I think with the gain all the way down and level all the way up, if you dont boost mids its just at unity, is that right? You'd have to add gain to boost with it?

Might replace the JHS Crayon on my wishlist... I was just looking at a thread on the GearPage that says the Studio mode of the Source Audio Zio is similar to the "pultec Trick", but I don't think it can get anywhere near this... It is kind of astonishing that it took this long for someone to make this kind of pedal. Or I could get all three...
