My attitude is that if a day goes past without me learning something then it has been a day wasted. I'd say that your time spent travelling is one of your best investments - the exposure to other cultures is something of immense value especially if you are of a creative nature. When I decided that I needed to get an idea of what can be done with embroidery I had a look at a few youtube channels and have to say that yours stands out simply because of you. You communicate very well and at a pace that even my slow grey matter can take in. The fact that you are UK based and have a shop where I can buy any supplies I might need are bonuses that I'm happy to take. Having started off just wanting an insight into gold work (which I thought was all there was to embroidery) I'm finding my brain pulled in all sorts of different directions thanks to your wealth of great videos so thank you very much for massively increasing my work load!!! 🤣😁🤗💐

I’m so glad I found your videos. I’m an amateur American who has spent more than 50 years practicing needlework, sewing and cross stitch. I love your videos and learn something new with each video. My engineer husband was shocked that you gave up on engineering. I’m not so shocked because he is very artistic with drawing, and now computer art. Thank you for the wonderful content.

I've just taken up embroidery, having not done anything like this since junior school, when it was the only craft girls did! I have learnt so much from watching your videos, and now I'm going to make a needle book to sort and store my needles. Whilst watching your video of making a needle book, I suddenly remembered my mother's sewing box, which included a 1 page red felt needle holder, a bit raggety, but made by one of my older sisters when they were in junior school. Very long forgotten memory ❤

Sure did enjoy this. When I recently found your channel, I was thinking this endearing woman is a Master Embroiderer who has mastered a skill and stuck with it. Thank you for sharing your other hobbies as I was beginning to think (in my senior years) that I should have stuck with one art and stuck with it instead of dabbling in a whole lot, including painting (which is generally not considered a fabric art). Your pursuit of various arts has validated my interest in so many. Love your channel and have so many videos to catch up on. THANK YOU!

Thank you Sarah for your fab videos. I have just returned to embroidery after many years having only really learnt the basics with my Grandmother. I'm soon to be 54 and decided to get a kit and now I'm hooked. In just a few weeks I've gone from a beginners kit to designing and drawing my own patterns to embroider. I feel like a kid that has just entered a sweet shop for the first time. Absolutely loving learning more through your videos.

I feel as if we have sat down with a pot of tea to chat! What marvelous opportunities you have had in your life thus far, starting with your 8 month travel! 32 countries? Wonderful! I have traveled but you top the cake with your worldwide excursion! I envy the experience, knowledge and training you had at RNS. Yes it sounds like it was very challenging and tiring with the deadlines you described. But you learned quite a bit, knowledge that will be with you for the rest of your life. And best of all, you found your niche, which is teaching, and you discovered it while you were still young. I recall a professor stating that every person has a talent within themselves, buried like a diamond in the rough. Its just a matter for each of us to find it and polish it until it shines. Well, you certainly found yours Sarah. You are a marvelous embroiderer and an excellent teacher, there is no doubt about it. You have the knowledge, the passion, AND you the gifted ability to pass that knowledge on to the students! And you successfully do that with every class you record. I work at a college and I have observed over the years good professors and not so good professors. They all have the education and knowledge of course. But not all know how to explain the subject clearly and help students understand. So trust me when I say you are an wonderful teacher! I am very glad to have found your channel and I suscribed a week or so ago. I am trying to get back to embroidering ..something my mother taught me as a child and I had left it all behind when I was a teenager. It was many moons ago..I am now 63. But I believe I can start again. With your video courses, its only a matter of practice and being patient with myself. I look forward to catching up on your past videos and my goodness you have so many! I always enjoy watching you teach and I enjoy seeing your kitties when they decide to do a cameo appearance! Never stop teaching Sarah! And thank you for all your hard work. You are most appreciated!

Sarah, I truly enjoyed hearing about your journey to textiles and embroidery. I have often thought how wonderful it would have been for me to pursue a career (in retrospect at 66+.) My mother taught me all domestic things: sewing, needlework, cooking and housekeeping; however, I wish I had been steered towards continuing education in needlework as well as cooking/baking, which I also love. I believe we should continue to learn something new each day! The world is a wonderful place! Thank you for sharing your story. I would not have understood the additional asset of drawing and painting in needlework!

Loved the video as always. I found some embroidery that my Mum had done in the 1950s and wondered if I could do it. Got some books, found her hoop and put some calico in it and began to teach myself, with some success. Then I found you tube and yout videos, which are slowly taking me to a whole other level. I have had to retire because of chronic illness and your videos have given me a new 'job'. Thank you Sarah, it's really good to see how people start out in one direction in life and then life takes them in a completely different one. When I was doing some RSN day classes, my Mum asked me why the RSN? My reply was simple, if I'm going to learn, I might as well take advantage of being taught by the best in the world. She fully agreed. Lovely to see Miss Pinky putting in an appearance. My 4 cats think she's rather camera shy! Exactly like their Mum.

Hello Sarah, Wow! This totally makes sense of why you’re such a great teacher - it’s because you truly are passionate & love what you do - learning how to embroidery from a zero background & then having an awesome opportunity to have an apprenticeship in Hampton Court is a true indication that this is exactly what you were meant to be doing!! And - all this simply came as the result of losing your job & deciding to taken a traveling adventure!! That shows that 1 thing can completely change the course of your life!! I so happy for you & fir all of us - your subscribers/followers👍🏻🤗👍🏻👏🏻! Thank you for telling us this incredible story👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻!!

What an interesting career you have had. You are a born teacher, not all can impart knowledge so well. I think learning traditional skills at Hampton court would have been an incredible opportunity and such hard work. Thank you for your channel. I almost forgot, your painting is amazing too!

What an astonishing journey you’ve had Sarah, (pun intended) you were very brave to cross Africa in a jeep, my travels have always been in comfort, I don’t have your fortitude! I can well imagine that Katmandu was inspiring and I’m sure the vast variety of arts you have seen in their native countries has opened your mind to all kinds of possibilities. I was stunned by the piece you did of king Tut for your finals, fabulous! Your enthusiasm is very inspiring!

Thank you so much for sharing your career path . Since I first started watching, I’ve wondered how you got started and what it’s like to study at the RSN. I also love the chit chat format. I for one am always inquisitive and enjoy hearing about other peoples talents and backgrounds. 👍

Sarah, loved getting to know you. As a retired teacher may I say you have excellent teaching skills! At the moment I am working on toss pillow covers for couches and chairs. I have completed several that were purchased as kits and also buying covers that I embellish with embroidery. I love your videos and find them so enjoyable and helpful!
Some ideas on how to store and organise your embroidery stash!
