Hope Carl and Team reads this: As a reviewer and mobile user for the past 15 years, I would say people should see the Glyphs as a notification/ light bars split into different zones to give it a aesthetic look with useful led lights for different purposes. Earlier Mobile phones had notification led on the front which was really useful and it's gone now. So, the glyphs on Nothing Phone should be taken as a positive approach albeit a little funky looking. Why not ? Good Luck Carl and Team It's just the beginning 🙌🏻

As a product marketer in tech I find the conversation here very interesting. While I don't work in mobile devices, it seems like a hard market to stand out in. This means your positioning strategy needs to be pristine. I have some observations: 1. We repetitively hear the CEO mention the product is innovative, but in the first 15 minutes I'm not given much evidence as to how or why. 2. The bulk of the shots are featuring the back of the phone. I understand the back is visually differentiated. But at the end of the day, the *front* of the phone is going to be what I will interface with. The first full frame shot of the front UI is at minute 17. Why aren't you showcasing that experience? I'm left to believe it's because you don't have anything exciting to show. Am I wrong? 3. When asked, the CEO musters that he "*thinks* [the nothing phone] can stand head to head" with flagship products. I find this a bit sheepish. The goal can't be that we're 'almost as good.' Not only is it as good, but it will surprise and delight you ways the Flagships never will -- that's what I want to hear. 4. Central to the Nothing narrative is the idea that flagship phones lack innovation, and that each new generation is no different than the last. And yet, Phone 2 appears incredibly similar to Phone 1 (and most iPhones, of course). The Head of Design even goes so far as to explain that to build an icon you need to refine it over generations -- thereby eroding their own narrative and justifying the competitors they purport to be differentiated from. You tell me you're the lean start up unburdened by the creativity-sapping weight of marketshare. Why then does Phone 2 look like a slight refresh instead of a boundary-shattering innovation? Seems like a neat product. I recognize it's easy to sit back and tear things down rather than build them up. Perhaps most of your buyers don't agree with me. I personally needed more reasons to believe right up front. Thought the story telling was fun though. What do you think @Nothing marketing team? Does your PMM (team?) disagree with me?

I was looking for this comment. I love the idea of adding innovation back to this industry but similarly didn't really get how their product is innovative. I hope to see more bold and radical ideas in future versions

I think even though some of your points are very valid (from a product marketing perspective), 1) The content and purpose of this unique keynote imo is to connect with the audience on a personal level, with a vlogging approach rather than a traditional corporate way, where you can only see investors, top reviewers and VIPS invited in person. The structure of the video is to build engagement, fun and transparency, to then introduce the product features so we believe and trust the messaging, similar to influencer marketing. 2) I imagine a greater emphasis was put on the back of the phone as it's the first cue that people identity and evaluate, so that they understand the brand 'icon', and to communicate that it's not the same as the last iteration. Same can be said with iphone Ads - greater emphasis on the physical design, then featuring the software changes. 3) I agree with you here, perhaps mentioning unique features would be a bonus, although I imagine that Carl stayed transparent and real, since in purely raw performance, it cannot compete against the 2023 flagships, but can against the 2022 ones. The phone also has a different price points from the flagships, so saying that it could compete at a lower price is a good point. 4) To establish their brand icon with incremental innovative addition. I guess that's the hardship of balancing identity establishment (safety) and major innovation (risk). Nothing established their biggest form of innovation on their first phone with a bold back design with basic functional use, i imagine that their form of innovation is now incremental (yet still visual with added functionality). Taking the iphone as a reference, it took them 4 years to feature an innovative and visual change from the notch to a dynamic island on their pro models only, for the same function. You've made a good critique of the video! Your points would definitely help to win investors and the average consumers, although from a PR perspective, this video wins in terms of transparency, trust and fun through influencer marketing (Casey and Carl himself) with the shortfalls of a non-perfect textbook marketing pitch.

Great video! I'm warming to Nothing so much more after seeing this video as they seem so much more human than other tech companies!! I might even buy an Ear 2 to show my support for the caring/sharing human side / lack of ego they're showing!!

To be honest, I think Nothing succeeded in its vision, you can take a look now in the small players' lineup, some examples are the Infinix GT Series, Techno's Camon Series, the ROG and RedMagic Phones, they all embraced having creativity on the design on the phone itself, not only with lights but different materials too. Before Nothing phones really maintain the same look, maybe new colors here and there but that was it. Look at them now. I have been an Apple and Samsung guy myself but since my Samsung is on its last legs, I'll be more than happy to support Nothing, by getting one of their devices for my upcoming phone, and maybe future phones as well.

Yes there is major improvement in the cameras. As now you're getting 50MP Sony IMX 890 with in sensor zoom (the same sensor used in OnePlus 11 and 11R) and most likely 32 MP selfie camera (a Sony sensor).

The symmetrical bezels is so rare with android phones yet instantly catches my eye. I love that that was included.
