3drifterboy yes you can run a stand-alone oil system for the turbo with a inline filter, we do it with pulling tractors and trucks because of how much these turbos cost(10k+) so it takes out the factor of ruining a charger from a bearing coming apart in the motor and starving and or sending trash through the charger

Make sure you wash that block down well. Soap,water hose, some coffee filters are great lint free rags and some compressed air. Also transmission fluid in the bore holes and then wipe clean. Keep going till its dirt free. Its crazy how much residual dirt and metal shavings are still trapped in that block. Id also recommend using a rifle cleaning rod brush. So you can clean all the main oil galleys well.

Before you guys put that crankshaft in do a THOROUGH clean up on it with brushes through the crank pin oil journals. Although new bearings may look clean, put some brake clean on a clean white cloth and give the bearings a wipe off. You'll be surprised what comes off of a 'clean' bearing. Best of luck guys!

Why does everyone think you make more power with twins? A big single will always make more power, it'll just take some more RPM to spool! A big 118mm turbo will do the trick, good for 3000 - 3500hp! LOL! They don't make them much bigger... They'll never run out of turbo, no matter what they do with it 😅

The crank bearings shouldn't be going even at that HP unless they are being starved for oil...maybe the oil is not draining back to the pan fast enough at high RPM's plus the amount of oil in the lines and turbo is starving the engine while running???but looks good when checked when not running... Maybe need a bigger wider pan with lots of baffles and look if there is any restrictions for the oil draining out of the heads that can be opened up...plus I read that restricted valve stems can help prevent excess oil supplied to the heads at high rpm... Also a high flow oil pump can make oil starvation worse sucking the pan dry faster then the oil can drain back into the pan... Oil Starvation is a common problem on the LS at high rpm operation...

Need to determine the true cause of these failures before throwing another engine in there. Is this the same style pan as Leroy? I'd look at a better pan and a accusump. As said, the cam bearings are failing due to oil starvation. On an LS the cam is oiled before the mains and rods. Dry sump would be great, but is not required.

@@jordantownsendracing5782 after some reading...not only do these engine have a problem draining the oil back into the pan fast enough at high rpm...but the oil pump starts cavitating at 6000 rpm...frothing the oil...but it seems there are aftermarket oil pans that increase capacity with many baffles directing oil to the pick up and screens to de froth the oil...plus there are aftermarket pumps that don't cavitate at high rpm...

Put a pressure switch in with a latching relay to kill the motor on 5 psi with a Light on the dash so you know why it turned off and save yourself some motors! So if you get a momentary drop below 5 it turns it off saving you MONEY!

Find you a small short wheel bus put a long beam lift in side on a sled, keep a spare motor in it and extra parts for Ruby and Leroy. Take it to the drag track with you open the back door and slide the crane back pull one motor put it on the bus, slide motor two out and install it at the track when needed.

I’m glad now ruby is on its way, to keep up with Leroy or maybe faster, it’s more aerodynamic. I have some nice parts to build an all forged sbc, but I’ve been getting great parts for both of my firebird formulas. My first Formula was my first race car, now it’s my NICBIRD cruiser, I am building Formula Jigsaw drag car still, it’s almost ready. It’s nice to have one to cruise and one to race! I have to admit that doing all this relatively hard work, it can really teach you, how to stop ply the tape to the end. If you do this, what’s gonna happen is it gonna happen, things become yets, as in it hasn’t happened yet. Then you can see what the end is gonna look like or the the end of the race. If you wanna push those stock LS parts your rolling the dice, how long is it gonna last, Dyno work can say a lot, but I mean how far is far enough, Just because you did it on the dyno, doesn’t mean it’s gonna last! Isn’t it funny how some things take longer? For me it seems to be just at the right time, I like how Some things take longer, I appreciate the work I do, and what I save for, and what I can build when the weather is warm! I do almost all of my work I’m the driveway lol, I’ve been doing that all my life, the only thing that stops me, is the weather! Did the same setup with the short block... Full size 99 Chevy 1500,tt but did have a full front fiber glass clip.... 8.8s and still going

A sequential turbo setup would be a nice addition since you are redoing the turbo system. Hell yeah Brother keep up the good work!
