Canon has long had cameras that shoot 50-60 frames of 4k, namely GX10, XF400-405, XF705

@@csamd9049 The XF705 came out in December 2018 (if you could get it). This video came out in April of 2019 (when the person replied). That's a difference of 3-4 months... hardly "Canon has long had..."

For those of you who come here wondering what the main difference is between these two cameras, here is your answer. There’s only one big difference between the XA50 and the XA55. The difference is that is the XA55 supports 3G SDI, and the XA50 does not. For people who absolutely must work in the serial digital interface, that makes the XA55 the more obvious choice. But it is a choice that can add nearly 20% to the price of the camera. So amateurs who don’t need to access 3G SDI will probably be better off sticking to the XA50. Everywhere else, the XA50 and XA55 are essentially the exact same machine, right down to the dual SD card slots which they use to record data.

Have to admit…….a sensationally clear and crisp presentation. The Tele converter is a real plus for me, trying to capture a speaker on stage without being intrusive is absolute key. There may be some more advanced video cameras out there…..but the XA 50 and 55 is certainly a great start.

This looks like a decent entry level camera. I'm seeing some comments that don't seem to grasp the "entry level" concept. For the price, it seems to have pretty decent feature set. I have a 7D2 and a 6D and was thinking of upgrading the 6D to a 5D4 or EOS-R but this might end up being my next purchase.

I have used the XA40 for ENG. I wish you’d go back to the larger 3.5 inch LCD that you had in the early versions of this series. At press conferences (especially outdoor press conferences with constantly changing light and speakers who annunciate at very different levels) it’s very helpful to have a larger screen. And it’s essential to be able to make adjustments while recording. I can’t always do that with my camera.

Hi! The frame rates available on your camera will depend on what country your XA50 was intended to be sold in. The XA50 available in the United States from Canon USA uses frame rates historically used in the 60 Hz NTSC television standard, specifically 29.97 and 59.94 frames per second in addition to 23.98 fps which approximates the frame rate of cinematic film. If your camera was purchased in a country that has historically used 50 Hz television standards such as PAL or SECAM, the available frame rates may differ. We recommend consulting your camera's manual for more information. Hope this helps!

Hello Lars: You are right that these are camcorders from different product series that were introduced at different points in time. As such, they share many of the same features while still differing in some. While they both use the Digic DV6 processor the XF400 uses dual DV6 processors. You will find the older XF400 has greater slow-motion recording options. The XF400 also has built-in Wi-Fi for streaming and control options. @@laje2610 The XF400's FullHD is very good, maybe even better than the XA50. Especially if you do not include dynamic or enhanced stabilization, which slightly reduces the resolution

Hello Cheng: The XA50 and XA55 both have a 15x optical zoom lens in both 4K and Full HD resolutions. The XF400 has the added feature of a Digital Tele-convertor. Using this feature can double the zoom range on the XF400. because mirrorless cameras are photo cameras that are not very suitable for video, they are very inconvenient and limited, and they simply cannot take a lot of things, camcorders are better in 90% of cases, video is shot on a photo camera only by those who have not tried anything better.
