I'm worried about a lot of bias being implemented in this. How does Google define "trustworthy new sources"? What if I only want news from The Daily Wire, Breitbart, Fox News, Newsmax, Daily Caller and The Drudge Report? Is it going to mark these as "fake news" and only show me CNN, MSNBC or New York Times?

I used to be able to tell Google News what stories I wanted to read by clicking on a cogwheel and manually adding topics. Have they removed that customization? Now I can read only what *they* think I should read.

It has a feature called 'Full Coverage' which shows you news from various sources, I just checked it out and here is an example - "Trump just manufactured a national security crisis for no reason" - the Guardian This is followed by a few neutral sources like the BBC and Tweets of Trump, Macron and Boris Johnson and then "A courageous Trump call on a lousy deal" - The New York Times NOW LET'S SEE HOW THIS WORKS OUT IN THE LONG RUN

This new Google News layout is TERRIBLE! I can no longer select what topics I want, Sports is shoved into my page, (I don't care much for sports), Way too much wasted white space now. Last year, they spread out and increased the white space, and now it is even worse. How do I go back? How do I select who and what I want in my home page? If I cannot and Google dictates what they want me to see, it is time to leave and find another news source for my home page.

If you have Google Play Newsstand on your phone, Google News is rolling out as an update which will replace it. Just make sure Google Play Newsstand is on the latest version (5.0.0).

And for people that are staying that you need to download Google Play Newsstand, the Play Store says that November 2017 was the last update for Newsstand, so what gives? Hope they don't make it too much like Apple News. My biggest worry is that I won't be able to get news from search terms that I choose, as I tend to choose ones that are more obscure. That's my biggest complaint about Apple News and the reason why I use the Google News app on my iPhone nearly every day.

Wonderful, more profiling. The problem with us all seeing different articles - only those we like - is that people matching a given profile can be singled out and fed a specific message. Those people see a message they agree with but nobody else sees it. Everyone's happy! The journalist thinks he/she did a splendid job because the viewers liked the piece. The viewers are happy, because Google correctly predicted they would like the piece. Google makes money. The hidden problem is that divisions between us grow wider. Please bring back the days of the BBC where we all watched the same news -even that which we didnt like - and debated it honestly with one another. Minds were changed as we found common ground. No longer. (Having said all this, I'll consume Google News. Its totally fun stuff i like to read about. Yay!)

Everything is right, but you understood the functionality of it in the wrong way. For example, I hate Microsoft as a company, but still, I get good and bad news about them because I am interested in it in some way. But I don't even care about politics, so I don't get any news about it. It's more about the topics that you are interested in rather than things that you love and believe in.

yes but not really, Google feed was designed as a way to give people quick updates on news, personal reminders, and events among other things, Google news has a totally different purpose, this is an only news app with features only a news app has, as I said they serve different purposes.

Alex Aguilar well calendar event and reminders link to Google calendar an app exclusively for organizing a schedule and planning ahead, so why can't articles link to Google News? Google Feed should be like a central hub for these sorts of Google apps so you can access them all on the fly.

because it would make sense to, for an app that was intended to be an "on the going thing" (google feed) to link the user to another app that is intended to stay longer periods of time solely reading news...its logic. What you r saying is comparable to: why do school students have 2 breaks, if they are both breaks they should only have the fisrt one and eat in that one (which wouldn't make sense because people don't eat launch at 10 am😂) do you get my point?

"to get the news you are interested in" that is exactly one of the biggest problems today. best example: there is always this one person around you telling you "that everyone(!)" thinks like that or is interested in this or that, just because his algorithm says so. people are so narrow-minded.
