My Google home was popping on and off the whole video. It was like playing Russian roulette with a Chromecast and a home. Each time the light started rotating I thought to myself this "one's the one thats going to set her off" but alas the barrel was empty and so to my heart; for I wouldn't have minded hearing her voice again even if it wasn't I she beckoned upon. The treasure that is her voice would have made penance 10 fold. Truthfully I would play a galleons worth of Russian roulette if it meant to that I had afforded a mere syllable from that most mechanical heart known simply as "the Assistant".

A docked smartphone or tablet already provides much of the same functionality. The only thing that might be missing is integration with your house's CCTV suite (which, if true, is easy to workaround). Looks interesting as a proof of concept, though.

This fascinates me... They focused on making the "assumed" as what I call it. Show me da wa- NO 'Show me the noodle recipe' It saw the assumed [noodles] on the screen, and acted on it. It's so interesting, and amazing... Google has so of the smartest people working on these things.

That's cool and all, but like many have already said, getting an Android tablet and setting its Ok Google detection to always on can do the same as these smart displays and more. It can't do Duo calls with your phone signed into Duo, but that may change soon.
