Is this suitable for home roasting like the valenta 3?

It sure is! Power requirement is only 240v 50-amps which would be like installing an appliance in your home. The only other thing you need is a way to vent it to the outside and your good to go.

New to these roasters, could you explain the difference between the different models?

The biggest difference between the Artisan XL and Valenta 8 roaster, other than hourly production (60lbs per hour for the AXL and 45-48 lbs per hour for the V8), is the way the beans are roasted. With the Artisan XL, we introduce heat from the bottom of the hopper and use the air to loft the beans to keep them moving throughout the roasting process. The air then escapes out the top and is vented to the outside. This works because we introduce so much heat that we can get away with it. We have been using this method for over 12 years now and these roasters are absolute workhorses that'll pump out a lot of coffee very quickly. The Valenta 8 roaster is our newest design that will preheat the air before it goes into a more enclosed roast chamber where the beans are. Like the AXL, the hot air lofts the beans, but the difference then is this air is recirculated inside the roast chamber so the beans are always surrounded by the heat, similar to a convection oven. This allows us to use less heat for a shorter amount of time, making the roaster very efficient. The enclosed hopper also allows the roaster to be more hands-off as there is no need to babysit the bean loft setting so all you need to do is load the beans, turn it on, and let the roaster do the rest until it's time to dump the beans into the bean cooler.

@@coffeecraftersllc Thanks for the detailed response. So, do we still need a vent in our processing shop for the Valenta models or that is no longer necessary since we are recycling that air?

@@habutti The roaster will still need to be vented to the outside to get rid of the smoke and chaff.
