Folks, I had a brilliant Varg experience about a week ago out on our normal hard-enduro routine training. All I can say is that there's plenty of power from the get go but also very manageable and trackable for slow rock or loose terrain climbing. It pivot turns like a normal bike and to go over mode 3 is just asking for some whiskey throttles...). Modes switch could not be more simple. Very good. Suspension could be softer but I am sure that's just the feeling from a brand new bike anyway. It will soften in time. I hope in the future there will be knobs to adjust clickers on the fly. The bike's were set up to hard enduro so, Mittas double green stripe tires with enduro bib mousse on each (18" rear wheel). Only thing I was not expecting is the fact that the bike is fully disengaged if reversing. That means that in the event of you possibly loosing your balance and get off the bike, it will keep rolling back. That's something easy to remember, I suppose. In that aspect, it would be great to tackle some kind of electronic brake at a certain inclination (because for hard-enduro you do want to roll back a bit a "blip" it to go up and past obstacles in your way). Other than that, I was very surprised on how easy it is to adapt to such bike. Muscle memory kept playing on me, meaning my legs did once in a while searched for the brake or gear shift pedals... Will try to edit some footage on this and tomorrow's rides as soon as possible!

For sure, but I wonder how badly they missed their weight targets… also they missed them despite their weight savings via their new inner tube technology. In the end, the extra battery life is probably worth the extra weight. I’m just stupid curious how this thing is going to perform under my typical circumstances compared with a 450. I ordered mine within the first day or two. It’s crazy you ordered yours 7 hours prior to the NDA expiration! Respect brother! Haha

Send us a bike for "competition use". Don't need that huge display screen and the heavy/bulky mechanism that allows it to be removed. That saves a pound or two in the worst place you want weight (high up on the rider triangle). Make it lighter and capable of one hour ride time at race pace with a fast charger or hot swappable battery. Keep this model for the casuals.

They need to make that screen more protected or that console panel on the bars. Making it so it can just pop right out is convenient, but dirt biking is brutal and messy, so protecting that electronic from mud and dust is very important, especially if it controls so much of the bike I bet.

Would be cool if you guys could do some kind of clutch. Would be really cool to be able to have a lot of different clutch adjustments though the app also. An example would be to have more or less load up for whenever you drop the clutch. Instead of dropping the clutch and getting way to much power and sliding all over the place you can adjust down so it’s more controllable. Or whenever the clutch lever gets pulled in it can act as a whole different feature. Let’s say if you have the bike set to your normal power out put you want (60) then whenever the lever is applied it only allows half that (30). I feel like that would be a game changer in long ruts or tight slick hard pack turns where throttle control is so important. I “think” it would almost act as a better traction control. Can’t wait to see these at the track!

You really don't understand what it's like to ride an electric bike. Everything you just said is done with the throttle. How about an track a race program . A race mode with 3 or 4 shift modes with up to 60 pins per lap. Each pin drop; sets off a program Based on the 1-4 power modes 1-hp level 2- regen. braking 3- no re gen. 4- a stall / or slow mo power release time. So if you go around the track and could hook a go pro to it. You could sink the video with the phone when you play the video back you could drop pins to automatically initiate preprogram power and regen programs. Say landing off a jump onto a sharp turn. You drop a pin initiates the regen level you pick for a specific amounts of time another. Hits another pin that is dropped initiates a hp level to and no regen. Coming out of the sharp turn in to a straight away. You could create a automatic shifting program that changes as you do around the track. Stark varg bikes need there own track set up to handle all it has and jumping capabilities. All riders could per program how their bike will respond. Having to stop to reset the regen and hp setting does no good in a race. If you could drop pins. Say one day before the race. You program the track in two laps one lap on the outside and one on the inside. Do three fast laps. Create a function for pin drop and use the up and down or power button to drop pins on the fly. I probably sound nuts, but i can see it happening. You can have a stock race where the track controls the bikes or up load a power program for all riders on a stark varg circuit its own class and track for its bikes. Or with a manual mode Using the button for a 1-2-3 1 is a stationary hp level. Set on the phone with no regen. 2 is 25 percent hit up again 2a is 50%. 2 b is 75% regen Or the down button is 3 increases power 3a a little ore in 3 or 5 hp increments. You can go back watch the go pro video. Watch out sider videos to help make adjustment. With the bike having one brake level being able to increase the regen braking on the fly will greatly help in steep down hills and giving it more Hp to get up steep hills. Basicall giving that bike a automatic transmission with manual lever shifting like high in sport cars. But in order to do that you may want to make sure that the buttons can handle it and or create a 3 button switch set up center button, up and down on one side and a optional horn button. Or add two or three buttons on each side And you can hook it up to a computer side and choose what the button do. Like a game controller. And if you want to go all out try putting two throttles on the bike that can be locked for a left hand right hand set up with a strong brake lever on each side that can be locked locked open to act as guards. Making the bike completely customizable to any riders choice. With a parental control feature that locks out different levels. I think with all that going on perhaps think about bringing the fat cat bike back the bikes with balloon/ atv tires. I have only learned about the bike 30 hrs ago and have been binge watching review videos. I still think a larger bike that goes up to 100hp with the capacity to run at 40 to 65 hp for 2 to 3 hrs and and 80 to 90 1-1 1/2hrs and 100 at 30 to 45 minutes would be awesome. A big boys bike. Beefier like a 750 or 800 moto dirt bike. Like the back wheel size becomes the front wheel sits a little taller and its first level starts at 30 horse power with lower gear ration that will go up any hill. Never rode one can not afford one but love the possiblitites i see from the videos. For 200 weight plus weight with a passenger it doesnt need to do over 85mph Just be a beast.

While I appreciate the drive to create something new, I fear for the future of the sport. When government agencies become aware of these bikes, many will be tempted to further restrict gas bikes. And of course, we can't forget the price either. Just like the four stroke revolution, I fear that these bikes will further squeeze out the average blue collar person.
@OtisFlint

I've got to disagree with the blue collar guys getting squeezed by e-bikes. Anyone racing seriously now is paying a fortune to maintain their 4 stroke bikes, upgrading every 1-2 years, etc. There's no way the e-bikes are going to have a higher overall cost of ownership than these maintenance queen 4 stroke mx bikes.

@@OtisFlint I race my KX450, it's a 2012 and still unopened. My playbike is a KTM tbi 250cx and it absolutely embarrasses electric junk. Even just a little te150i out performs electric bikes in every category multiple times over. Electric bikes will cost a fortune to own and even more to maintain. They have suspension, bushings, bearings tires, wheels almost everything a regular dirt bike does, except they've added a middleman, the storage battery and motor at about 3x the weight of a modern 2t engine. I've been looking everywhere and I don't see any 240 volt trees around here. Does the Stark come with a 450 CC gasoline generator?
@ktmboy1989
@ktmboy1989 Жыл бұрын
@Dat Sun there are battery electric generators which are basically a footlocker sized battery pack that can 240v charge. They can also come with fold out solar panels to charge while you're out riding. Additionally if you have an electric vehicle you can transfer some of that charge to your e dirtbike. Probably the more popular option for enduro guys especially in endurance applications, would be swappable battery packs.

they tried reversing the drive on snowmobiles from the front track axle to the rear axle. while it reduced track drag and was way faster with the same size engine, they could not get the machine to accelerate off the starting line quick enough. it just spun out. this is because the front drive design pulls the rear of the sled down and increases both traction and weight-shift. rear drive pushed the nose of the sled down and greatly reduced traction. so they dropped the project. going to hub-drive on a bike would also have some benefits, like longer battery life due to less parasitic power loss, but it would not pull the rear of the bike down on a start the way a chain drive system pulls the swingarm up under acceleration. this "packing" effect that bikes have increases stability and traction under acceleration. hub-drive would make the suspension respond much better under acceleration. however, the bike would want to wheelie really badly off the starting line, or anytime you slowed down then got on the power quickly. we may find that in the off road world, hub-drive will not catch on. anyone else know the pros and cons of hub-drive and can add to this?

@Dat_Sun

@@loz4830 Not even close. Stark rated the hp, not certified like SAE, certified would be about 8hp or 6,000 watts being continually discharged from the battery compartment. If it was so good, why don't they win against ice bikes? No electric bike on earth stands a chance against a regular old 250cc such as a 250xc, especially the newer 23+ fi, tBi /electronic power valve version. You won't find electric dirtbikes up here in the rockies, down right dangerous with such limited range and lack of 240v 40 amp charging trees. By comparison, the best electric dirtbike is a powerwheel next to a 250xc. I have 5k to the first electric dirtbike owner than can make one lap around Kremmlings Wolford mountain blm land before I do. All I ask is for video rights, I want to upload the results.

@@Dat_Sun so don't take it out when you're riding the mud ;) You can also just put it away in your backbag or something since the bike doesn't need it to operate. It would. benice if they can give us a plastic piece that will fit in there while the phone is not mounted just to keep it clean if case you want to avoid mud getting in :)

i know the ama was going to let the alta compete but the varg is no alta, the varg not only can run circles around the alta but can out perform anything the other manufacturer's have to offer and they know it, there is no way the other manufacturer's are going to stand by and let the varg run against them heads up especially in supercross, outdoors maybe but not supercross. you guys built the varg too good and the other manufacturer's got nothing that can touch the varg so they're going to put up a lot of opposition to allowing the varg to compete. i hope i'm wrong but don't think i am...........

I would love to try one of these bikes out , it might be great for MX racing. But off road, not sure if you can’t change the battery haft way though a gncc , or H.S. Maybe they will address it some day .

@@rico8089 I own the electric freeride from KTM I also own a 300 gas gas but I mostly use the electric now. Apart from autonomy and noise (which you end up getting annoyed about when you get used to silence) the electric advantages are so convenient that I ride it so much more often that thermic.
@sebraaap

@@thomastjg53 all ebikes companies are aware about it, MXers are a tough crowd to convince, I personally never wanted to hear about a non-noise and vibration making bike but right now that's the one I would keep if I had to choose. So yes hundreds of engineers are already working on that, it's just the beginning of this energy for off-road. About the battery swapping, I'm usually so washed from the ride (which constant torque keeps your arms pretty hard) that the charging time is just enough to recover your own energy. For now there's no 6 hours autonomy Enduro bike but the big manufacturers will share news soon I'm confident about it.
