Thank you, I tried it and gave up as it stressed me as well as the dog. I have tried again today and will persist. He did roll around and keep trying to get it off but when he did walk he walked by my side. Really helpful thank you

Walked my 10 months old ACD girl with a head halter this morning. I've put it on a few times at home before that. Every time she hit the grass she rolled her head in it, but she got over it quickly and we both enjoyed the walk. I've tried slip leash and everything else before and she just kept pulling. I'm glad I gave this a try. Was inspired by you, thanks Jason.

My Dane doesn't like it either, but it's that or no more walks. I had him on a martingale, then a prong - until he found out he was stronger than me, even with a prong on. Then he took glee (every day!) with bolting - knowing I wasn't strong enough and I didn't want to be dragged while trying to hold on...I just let go (and he got what he wanted - the fact that he did it every day after his first success stunt was proof that he was getting a big kick out of it!). Now I use the halti and he is perfect - he sticks to my side like glue and only once tried to bolt - it was perfect for me; I just stood there (no tugging, no jerking, just stood still) and he couldn't get away no matter how hard he tried). I suspect there will come a time when he will actually be able to walk on a martingale again - but the halti will always be in my pocket.

My St. Bernard shuts down. She doesn't try to take it off but she refuses to move. Treats are not working. Any advice?

Treats won't work, you need to use the tough love method ha ha. Check out one of my most recent videos it's called "don't give in to the tantrums" this demonstrates getting a dog used to a Halti when it drops to the ground. I realise you have a very big dog but if you are persistent you will still have success.

Thanks for the video. Just need to ask one thing. I don’t have a gentle leader leash but the leash which goes around the neck and has got a ring which you put around the nose of the dog. Is that fine or does it hurt the dog.

Is it a slip lead with a gentle leader built in? I’m not sure exactly what equipment you mean.

So presumably a halter and/bridle on horses is cruel. Like most training tools it is is how you use them defines if they are cruel or not. Have you ever tried to control a huge,pulling dog
