@AcademicPhoenixPlus5 жыл бұрын
Hi Krishna, thank you for your comment! I don't have a displacement map tutorial, but I do have something similar. This is how you can add rust using occlusion. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4q6aouteqt9hbc You can replace occlusion with any b/w map. I hope this clarifies! I will definitely look into the rusted metal/wall cracks using displacement map. that sounds fun! Thank you for the suggestion.

This tutorial is very useful and clear... but I've notice a little problem with the aiMix Shader... the render is perfect but the viewport2.0 is not showing the textures on the model anymore. Is it a known bug?
@AcademicPhoenixPlus5 жыл бұрын
The viewport is great, but it's only a preview. Once the shaders get complicated (or textures are too large), the viewport can't handle it. It's pretty normal. :)

Cool! Try this: Make sure the color is white. Go to Transparency and attach the Cloth texture. U and V Color is white, U width and V Width are about .090. See if that is what you are looking for. Good luck!

Thanks for a great lesson. I have just one question - what kind of black magic should I practise to get me own "Isolate selection" button. There isn't any in my render view window of Maya 2018. It looks like this: cloud.mail.ru/public/NA8c/UJxsBm5Zw
@AcademicPhoenixPlus7 жыл бұрын
Hi Rogue, thank you for your comment! You are rendering through the regular Render Window. Go under 'Arnold' menu at the top right, and you should see an Arnold render view. That's where you will find the Isolate Selection. Check out 0:43 in my video. I show you how to do it. I hope this helps!
@Whale_Tale7 жыл бұрын
OH, dang! After having worked with 3D max (pure evil) and Cinema 4D (fancy, but not so popular) I was forced to settle with Maya and still can't get used to Autodesk habit of shovelling functions of one menu all over the place. Thanks for lighting a torch in my dark cave. =)
@AcademicPhoenixPlus7 жыл бұрын
It's really strange that there are now 2+ windows to get a render. It takes a bit of practice, but it'll make you stronger. ;)
@Whale_Tale7 жыл бұрын
Can't argue with that. Still I always have a feeling that all this "make you stronger stuff" in regards of autodesk producs - it's like sitting on a chair with glued pins and trying to squeeze comfort out of it. As I explore Maya I continuosly stumble upon these strange design abominations like the 2+ windows. I mean, you can't just switch on backface culling, no - you have to flip normals for it to work. And these two functions are in different ends of the menu ribbon. All in all it's not as atrocious as 3D max, but for me Cinema 4D was the pinnacle of usability. Heck, the MASH part of Maya is brilliant, so why all ther strange stuff. It's as if there is a particular guy in autodesk, whose sole purpose is to make us, users, stronger. He twist in his seat everyday with a mad smile and imagins even stranger things in the interface. I mean, if Maya becomes clear and easy the poor bastard will lose his job. =)))

Hi i know this isn't completely related but i'm struggling and figured you might know, i'm trying to export my model which uses MixShader materials throughout with an FBX file and i keep getting an error saying the plug in can't support MixShader files? Can you not export Mix Shader files with FBX then, was hoping you would have some insight thanks
@AcademicPhoenixPlus3 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. Mix Shaders are old run by Arnold renderer, and probably just maya. However, other softwares have their own mix shaders, so you would have to learn their method of creating something similar. FBX can support direct texture files, but I haven't seen complicated nodes/shaders being transferred to other software. Where are you trying to transfer your textures?
