thanks for the tutorial.. i was wondering... is there a way i could add an image such scratches, and random markings ontop of the ambient occlussion to make the rust look more random and realistic.

Excellent tutorial! I use 3ds max with Arnold. But your tutorial served me perfect. Thank you very much, very well explained. Greetings from Mexico.

Hello Rodrigo from Mexico! Thank you for the comment! Arnold applies to all software, so I'm glad it helped. :)

If you want this for a substance to maya workflow. Plug the basecolor(into input 1) and plug the ai ambientOcclusion out color(into input 2) into a multiply Divide then plug the multiplydivide into basecolor of the aistandardsurface

Hi! this is such a great tutorial! I'm just wondering, I have multiple objects in my scene and I want to add AO to all of the objects. They all have different materials already. I'm just wondering, what's another method of applying AO to all of them?

Wouldn't it be more interesting if you connect the rust texture to a aiCurvatureShader? I think it would be more natural for a metallic object. Anyway, it's just aesthetic, I could understand the concept without any problems. Really love your channel!!
@AcademicPhoenixPlus6 жыл бұрын
Hi Thiago, Yes, that would be interesting for sure! I have a tutorial for the aiCurvatureShader as well, but it uses metal instead of rust. Check it out! kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3aVaaCtr9l2mrc

¿Me puedes ayudar, POR FAVOR? Te lo agradecería inmensamente. Muchísimas gracias.

Thanks, this, aswell as your other videos were very useful. I was wondering if there's a way to use the aiAmbientOcclusion and the aiCurvature nodes at the same time to drive a shader.

If I put ambient occlusion on the mix there is no difference in render. I don't know why. Checked in different scenes etc.

Did you also at the aiRange node? That will help with the contrast

Hi Paradise, thank you for your comment! I think I may have an tutorial similar to what you are asking for. Something like this? kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJzdgoqorc56fNE (it's a tutorial on using preset Arnold shaders, and also how to composite wireframe). Let me know if this helps! Otherwise, I'll definitely add your request to my list. :)
