Might have helped to show how those words would have sounded without the accents...especially 'u' where it might not have made any difference? would it have made any difference if I anted to ask where is the lavatory, not the toilet? Couldn't we have asked "where's the metro", rather than "where's the metro station"? Isn't "please" one of the first words that should be learnt...ask well as hello & goodbye?
