I was a classroom teacher for grades 6-12 for 10 years and have been doing private tutoring for the last 4 years. I really want to take my current skills and turn them into something that is still meaningful but gives me a better work-life balance with financial goals in mind. This video showed me that I am in my wheelhouse to learn and become an ID. thank you Devlin! I want to do your bootcamp but I just can't swing the financials right now, so it is really great that you have so many videos available at no cost.

I appreciate Devlin Pecks videos so much. I am just beginning a masters programme in ID and these videos have really helped me understand the various concepts. The masterclass is truly a master class. What I'd like though is if you could go through the entire process of ID using 1specific example in a corporate setting so from say analysis to evaluation

Your instructional design videos are simply amazing! I'm blown away by your ability to explain complex concepts with such clarity and depth. As someone who's been a trainer for the past three years, I'm transitioning into instructional design myself, and your videos have been an absolute godsend. Your diverse range of examples really drives home the lessons and inspires me to think creatively about my own training methods. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise and passion with the world! Looking forward to learning more from you!

Thank you so much, Devlin. Your videos are truly excellent. I constantly use them to learn new concepts and to remind myself of things I may lose focus on over time. I'm also grateful to your team members and collaborators for their contributions. I was a little confused with the "Cognitivism" part because I thought the ">" sign meant greater than, rather than a flow of sequences. After looking over it again, it made MUCH more sense. Thank you for all you do!

Ah, so sorry! I should have made that more clearly an error. Good feedback and I’ll try to add some hyphens before my greater than signs in the future 😃

Thank you for your videos; I have learned so much from them. One quick clarification, though. When talking about rewards and punishments, in terms of behaviorism, you are actually talking about operant conditioning (Skinner and Thorndike are the major contributor's to this theory).

I really like the rigor applied to the Objectives. If one cannot measure, one cannot manage (paraphrase roughly from former head of Intel, Andrew Grove). Assessment will out.

So, insightful! Thank you! How might this align with designing for a multimedia production training course? My Class is asking for us to communicate with professionals in this field.
@DevlinPeckYT4 ай бұрын
Hey, thanks! It really depends on what problems you're trying to solve with the training, but I'm sure you could lean on some theories to make sure your course is hitting the mark. As for connecting with professionals, you can head over to the free ID community on Circle and start a discussion post over there. www.devlinpeck.com/id Good luck with your class!

Do you ever use UBD for creating curricula? (UBD is Understanding by Design) it's about creating units with a backward design? It has 3 phases. First phase, we figure out the results we want to achieve for the unit; the 2nd phase is creating the assessments for it and 3rd phase is the activities/games/worksheets that will support getting to the end result. It's not a program; it's more of a framework on how to create curriculum units. Do you have any opinions on how it relates to today's field as ID?

I feel like instructional design is 3D leason planning. You start with assessing the need and collecting the data, then you make the plan, then you make it come to life. I feel like this mkght actually be a feesable carreer move for me.
@catboy721 Жыл бұрын
Great intro and synthesis of some very complicated concepts. Question: So much of Design is framed in terms of defining a problem or behavior. What if there IS no problem or behavior to change? Compliance, New Hire orientation, regulatory and other types of training are just information dumps and memorization for learners. There’s a need, perhaps, but nothing that’s really corrective.
@DevlinPeckYT Жыл бұрын
Good question, there are definitely a ton of info dumps out there! Trainings like that could be a cool opportunity to address and design for cognitive load. Thanks for watching!
