When I sit in class I feel so dumb because I don't understand what my teacher is explaining but every time I turn on your videos math instantly becomes so clear that I'm starting to enjoy doing math.Thank you for devoting your time.

Crazy how these videos are helping me out after 12 years!

I think it's because our minds can only focus for so long so you inevitably miss things, which is why TED talks for example they go over the same concept multiple times to make sure the whole audience gets it. In math they use a lot of mathy language that's hard to understand as a newcomer which makes it especially hard to follow. So having these videos is really the only way I've been able to learn precal so far

5:40 - why is that in quadrant 4 and not 3?

This is because the output of inverse tangent is from -pi/2 to pi/2, which would be in quad 1 or 4. Also notice in Q2 x and y are negative so the tangent function value would be positive.

Hi! Great video and explanations!! I've learned more here than others. Question though. In your example 1, shouldn't the quadrant -pi 3/2 be in quadrant IV not II ? You mention quadrant 2 and so I just want to be sure. thanks for all your help!!

Hi, I am very confused as when I type in arctan(5/15) in my calculator (Same TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition calculator as you use on screen), instead of getting 18.43 I get 0.4899573263.
