It is rare to find an individual or group of individuals (since photography life is a collective) who are passionate about their field and willing to share their knowledge openly and freely. We are sincere in our gratitude for your efforts to share knowledge openly & freely. Thank you very much for your efforts, and thank you for guiding us to grow in our photography journey.

Please continue this series! I recently found your website and KZbin channel and they've been tremendously helpful, very clear and easy-to-understand. I started a combo subscription a couple months ago for Lightroom + Photoshop, and it came with Lightroom Classic and Lightroom CC, but I actually had no idea Classic has more features than CC until you said so; I assumed since CC was newer, it must have more. I guess not. Anyway, all that to say: I'm trying to figure out Lightroom and it's been overwhelming, so I do hope this series continues and branches out to different types of edits/photography/etc. I would love to eventually master the program haha. Thanks for all you do.

Awesome, Cody! Sounds like these videos are going to be right up your alley. CC lacks a lot of features compared to Classic - you can see our article listing the differences here: photographylife.com/lightroom-classic-vs-lightroom-cc

I use LRC to geotag as does have a nice map feature. I use camera raw to edit as it has the same editing features as LR with a cleaner and less bloated interface. If you can get into the habit of adding keywords to your photos when importing to bridge, cataloging becomes easier and less important.

Thank you for your videos and your earlier responses. I have been using Lr6 for years and have not yet made the leap to the Adobe subscription - Light Room Classic. I would like to know if there has been a big improvement in Light Room over all. I have been looking closely at DXO as a plug in and using Light Room only for the DAM - Cataloging unless the improvements in the new version of Light Room can compete with the new AI features found in other software. If I only use the catalog in LR is there a worthwhile reason to leave LR6. I am having a new computer built and weighing my options in photo RAW software editing and cataloging. I am using a Windows PC.

I like yer style, Having issues getting a handle on importing existing file folders with win10. Do I need to just import the photos and name the folder in LR?
@PhotographyLifeChannel Жыл бұрын
If you like where those existing files already are on your hard drive, and you don’t want to change your folder structure or move those files, just make sure that “Add” is selected at the top of Lightroom’s import, rather than “copy” or “move”!

Hi Spencer, is this Lightroom Classic available for free to install or we need to purchase from Adobe now? I heard that Classic is available on mobile devices, the desktop version we need to subscribe? So many updates, it’s quite confusing. 🤔 Thanks for helping!
@PhotographyLifeChannel3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the mobile app is free, but the desktop version sells for $10/month in the plan with Photoshop.

@@PhotographyLifeChannel I have lightroom 5 and it's all I need so thanks for doing a video on what is a obsolete piece of software (in this day and age) so looking forward to the next video. Thanks again 👍👍👍👍

Sure thing, Matt! The software I’m using in this video is actually Adobe’s current subscription version of Lightroom Classic (as of April 2020) but it looks extremely similar to the older, standalone versions of Lightroom. So hopefully about 98% of the info in these videos will be directly applicable to your own Lightroom software. Adobe really should have come up with a name other than “Classic” :)

RAW is not "just another file type".
@PhotographyLifeChannel4 жыл бұрын
I think you’re talking at a deeper level than the quick note for beginners that my comment was meant to be. “RAW image files” is a valid technical term, even though the specific file types are more granular (.DNG, .ARW, .NEF, and so on). I phrased it that way, and would do the same again, because I wanted to make a comparison that beginner photographers who had never heard of RAW would immediately grasp. But you’re not wrong either, and subtleties I wish I could convey can get lost in brief descriptions like that. Either way, thanks for your feedback.
