In this recording, Jacci offers some ideas and experiences of what mindfulness is and what it can offer us all as a transformational (and enjoyable) way of being. She briefly describes the sets (and Playlists on You Tube) of Live Recorded Meditations. The first two (which have similar meditation themes) have a focus on 'being mindful' and letting go of critically 'doing and striving', and the next are described as the next 'circle in the spiral'. In this third set the focus is more on 'actively doing, in a mindful way' -- embodying and emanating mindful energy as the love that we are. The idea here is not to be physically active but dynamically, energetically active with our meditation. Giving ourselves and sending out the gift of the various energies of love.
Jacci looks at what mindfulness is and is not -- for example, it is not an effort to 'empty the mind of thoughts' but to simply notice our thoughts and distractions, always with tenderness and care. And the value of focusing on the breath as a way to bring us into the moment now. Breathing is the greatest 'key' tool we have been given to help us become mindful, and it is always with us! A gift of 'now' for all our lives. We then consider how it is not possible to focus our mind with concentration on two things at once. We can of course do two things at once -- an artist can talk while they are painting, or a person send texts while they are watching a film, for example -- but we cannot 'con-cen-trate' or 'bring into the centre of our awareness', two things simultaneously. Therefore, the more we focus intently on our breathing, the less we are aware of 'distractions' or other thoughts/feelings, which we want to let go of, for now.
She then invites you to follow the sets of meditations, and hopefully enjoy and want to learn them, as practices which you can keep coming back to with the guided recordings, and/or eventually guide yourself through, whenever you want to enjoy the so many great benefits, of being and actively living now.
There are several different 'attitudes' which are helpful to us in becoming connected to and focused on living mindfully - such as trust, patience, non-judgement, non-striving, acceptance, being lighthearted, embracing simplicity, but perhaps the greatest attitude we can have is that willingness and wanting to have a go. To take the leap into believing, each one of us, that we can meditate, we can find transformational benefits, over time and dedicated practice, in our meditation, and keep on going! Mindfulness can take us into a spiral of change that brings us powerfully into now while giving us a peek of the joy of eternity.
