When I was teaching middle school Earth science, I used this video to kick off the unit on volcanoes. I had a huge screen and a terrific sound system (I purchased with my own dollars). I turned the lights off, turned the volume up, and pressed play. I wish you could have seen my student's faces at 2:06! Their mouths popped open and their eyes got wide as saucers. I had total engagement on that unit...all thanks to THIS video. Many thanks, Mr. Gregorio!

I just used this to introduce volcanoes in my kindergarten K3 class in Hong Kong. It's English, not science, but I knew they would love it and I'm working to combine the two subjects i.e. teaching English through science. Material like this is gold! Thank you so much.

Chris: I am very happy the video helped you. I produced the video but used individual clips from a variety of other sources, including documentaries on Geology subjects produced by the major cable stations. The great graphics are due to them (someday I hope to learn how to make that kind of CGI effect).

I'm so glad you enjoy my videos. Doing more elaborate instructive videos choreographed to music takes a lot more time, particularly if there is no narration (only text). They also begin to resemble short documentaries. I have one such 9 minute video on my site (Meiosis, the Continuation of Life), but I suspect I will not be producing another one like it until I complete my introductory trailer series.

There is an industry of composers who write short music clips specifically for movie trailers. It is big business. Over 20 such companies operate in America. They compose powerful, dramatic, emotional music intentionally designed to capture the interest and emotion of the listener. They then sell the clips on albums to Hollywood studios, hopefully so they will be bought and used. KZbin has thousands of such clips. Just type "trailer music", and begin listening. Download what you like.
