The Very Best bass jig video I have ever seen. Thank you so much. Took me forever to learn how to fish a bass jig. And I still didn't know some of what you have talked about in this video. Best wishes to all fisherman. Best sport ever. I'm age 72. Fishing since I was 8 (my dad and friends didn't fish so I started up on my own, I don't know why, but I am so glad I did).

Randy, I've been fishing jigs in tournaments since the 70's. Won my share of tournaments fishing backseat behind my dad. Back then jigs were made out of bucktail and not living rubber or silicone and using Uncle Josh Pork rinds. My dad always told me I was just lucky but never told him what I was doing. Felt bad about that after he passed. He was a very good fishermen and everyone in the San Antonio area knew it. I've seen crawdads shoot up front the bottom when they get spooked and slowly sink back down. That's the way I fished a jig for years and done great with them. After it hits bottom I pick it off bottle in short fast jerks emulating a crawdad! Usually getting strikes on the way back down! Do you remember Bass Buster jigs and spinner baits?

I kind of got lost on the thinking provided on fish control at 16:45. Most of my jig bites are under a dock, and you feel the bite/tap and you set the hook and reel the bass out. Or, you pitch into a tangle of logs or cover, get a bite, set the hook and crank the bass out. Most of my casts and pitches are very short distances. If I was casting my jigs to open water along clean banks, I can kinda see what Randy was describing. It is football jig fishing.

Denny Brauer would swing for the fences on his hookset.. as far as Jigs, I use Hacks jig design. The head and that Gamakatsu hook ain’t no joke. What hook is on your jig? Is that living rubber?

A whole bunch of this information applies to saltwater and jigs. Especially the stuff about varying retrieves and setting the hook. Randy it would be really fun to take you to catch flounder, you would be good at it immediately I think. If you ever want to try around the Chesapeake Bay I'd be happy to show you around.

Thanks for the tips, I'll try them tomorrow. Been fishing all my life and in tournaments since the 80s and have NEVER caught a bass on a jig. Smh I lived and fished tournaments around the GLs but now live in Florida, still haven't caught a bass on a jig. Won my fair share of tourneys but none on a jig. Smh

No need for another toxic Lead jig. Get with the times and walk the talk on environmental issues, Randy. Non-toxics are the way to go. No need to poison the environment as part of fishing.

Lead is a natural element found in the environment. You can't introduce lead into the environment cause that's where it comes from. Look at the periodic element chart, you'll find it there. Don't believe all these environmentalist wackos that want you to drive electric cars...

@@Kylewatchesstuff No. But thanks for reading my comment and taking time to respond. As I stocked up on shells for the upcoming waterfowl season, I realized that it's been over 30 years since that sport gave up Lead...with lots of fuss at the time about how it would be the "end of the world". Trout fishermen have largely embraced this move, but I'm left wondering what the holdup is for the bass crowd. Watching Randy lick his fingers after handling bare Lead in his videos while also suggesting that we all "sand" lead jigs to fine tune their weight does add perspective to his concern for its toxicity.
