@patricknorris93342 жыл бұрын
It was the first anime to get me into anime, I would stay up and record every episode on a vhs tape and if i missed unpausing the recording during a commercial break I would stay up til 3am when it cycled back to finish my recording. I had boxes of vhs tapes since i recorded the whole lineup from back in the day and even years after I tried rerecording and burning the vhs tapes onto dvds when dvds became popular (showing my age). I even wrote inuyasha fanfic as a kid but objectively taking out the nostalgia...its below a B tier anime with plot holes galor (i.e. inuyashas scabbard preventing his full demon transformation that the author just disregards after a while), horribly annoying character made purely to cock block the two leads (shippo), ridiculous plot armor and poor decisions made purely to keep the plot going, and so much obvious misunderstanding troupe love stuff it's nauseating. For when it was released and compared to most American cartoons at the time it was a breath of fresh air but the anime as a whole is extremely flawed and dissapointing. If the show was condensed to like a 50 episode series it would of been decent but the way it was made just makes it a meandering lame mess of a show:/

I still remember the excitement I got tuning in every Saturday night when it started out. I was already hyped by the commercials, but I didn't know what to expect and those early episodes definitely delivered. @@rodney2x48 Exactly. When adult swim.com launched its message boards, there was a large, restless cult of users called Rabid InuYasha Fans who would post angry messages when Adult Swim exhausted all of the dubbed InuYasha episodes to date because they premiered them every weeknight and Viz had not even finished dubbing Season 2 and those were the days before torrents were widely available, but then Cartoon Network gave Adult Swim its Saturday nights back and they were able to premiere them at a leisurely, once a week pace like they had done in the beginning, and those Rabid InuYasha Fans were satisfied. Rumiko Takahashi definitely has life experiences in love, whether direct or indirect, that makes her stories of people struggling with conflicted love feel more visceral than what is just on the surface. You can see it in just about all of her works, InuYasha, Ranma, One Pound Gospel, and Maison Ikkoku; the latter is my personal favorite of hers. I definitely recommend Bonsai Pop to check out Maison Ikkoku if they haven't, as it's one of Takahashi's most grounded works of an apartment love fantasy between young adults stuggling with many of the same conflicted feelings, but on a more relatable note. It's one of her most mature works in terms of demographic, but isn't devoid of wacky humor that she's most known for as well.

the tragic scene where Kikyo pins Inuyasha to the sacred tree gives me chills every time... most people do not realize how profound that scene is. It implicitly reveals Naraku's true identity: Onigumo, a desperate and helpless man whose only means of experiencing power comes from attacking the tender bonds that others have, of which he is forever deprived. The shikon jewel never grants his true wish.

Inuyasha is one of my favorite anime of all time. In fact, I re-watched the whole thing again 2-3 weeks ago when we went into quarantine. It had been many years since I had seen it. I'm very much a KagomexInuyasha fan because I love Kagome's character development and her struggles of loving a guy who is totally in love with another girl. At first she seems immature, but she is a teenage girl after all. Then she comes to accept that her feelings are normal and it's okay to feel jealous and angry, but it's NOT okay to destroy a person because of it. I think that is something we all need to learn. Anyways, great video. Keep it up! ♥

@@FranchescaConFuzzleD In charcter developments there is a change of heart/attitude due to a series of events for example - vegeta from dbz , Edward from fma brotherhood , gon from hunter x hunter [2011] after the chimer ant arc just to say a few In Inuyasha only sesshomaru shows a good character development others s ay very minimum of development Like , in Inuyasha for most of the time Inuyasha remains a brat that doesn't learn from his previous encounters with demons and is just big mouthed Kagome gets jealous whenever Inuyasha has a talk with Kikyo etc. Inuyasha basically repeats the same thing over and over agian until a person is tempted to drop the anime How many times have we seen naraku always escaping from fight How many times have we seen kikyo, inuyasha and akgome love triangle When these events are repeated over and over again , the same mistakes being repeated then the characters show little to no development If a particular event takes place then only will a character show development but if the events are repeated then there is no development
@FranchescaConFuzzleD4 жыл бұрын
@@sanjaysachdeva7773 I agree that there's a lot of repetitive parts in the show and plot but I don't think that it takes away from the character development and instead gives more opportunity for it. I think character development is not just a change of heart/attitude, but overall growth into a character with depth. Though all the main characters do have a lot of surface level consistent tropes/personalities throughout the series, it's mostly used for comedic purposes (like Miroku being a pervert and Inuyasha being senseless) and their characters do go through tough character changes through the series of events that unfold. I don't think it's always the 'same mistakes' with Naraku. He has to stay alive until the end of the series, since he is the main antagonist, and so of course he escapes every time. But with every encounter of Naraku, he's changing his strategies and growing stronger, and thus the team also has to grow along with him - in terms of character, intelligence, and power to keep up for every time they encounter him and his reincarnations. The fact that he escapes every time doesn't cancel the fact that everyone has to be developing in some way to even catch up to him. Kagura, too, despite being a villain had some really interesting and emotional character development throughout the show. While I agree that maybe not every character in Inuyasha had a drastic character change like Sesshomaru's (which was excellent), there was definitely some form of really positive and redeeming development within a good amount of them whether it be in their mindset, personality, strength, values, or in their relationships. Inuyasha's overall personality and ill temperament does indeed stay consistent throughout the show but I think his true development, apart from accepting himself and growing stronger as a half demon instead of seeking power as a full demon, is healing from his past and learning to accept his vulnerability and love again. The love triangle may be a repetitive aspect of the show but it serves as a drama device that challenges each of them to grow, despite how hard it may be (especially for Inuyasha). Anyways those are my thoughts, and thank you for sharing yours.

I first watched it when I was 12 or 13 years old, as I got older( I'm 27 now) and was rewatching it from tome to time, I always discovered new layers of emotions and messages that this Anime brings. Inuyasha helped me a lot through some tough times (I was bullyed at school) the anime became my escape, everytime kagome went down that Well I was going with her haha. And seeing your video about it makes me feel very happy cause I finally found someone similar to me that thinks that people don't give Inuyasha the merit that it deserves. So thank you! Oh and funny fact, when Inuyasha played in my country he was dubbed in Portuguese br by the Brazilian channel of cartoon network, but because I didn't had cable TV I had to watch it on the internet dubbed in English. I totally agree about the English dubbing version being very good (and yes Inuyasha's voice mainly) even tho I can watch it subbed also.(the only time I watched it subbed was the first time I watched the movies) Actually Inuyasha and Samurai X (kenshin himura) are the only 2 animes that I prefer the English dubbing version! So yeah, I'm a new subscriber now and can't wait to see the next videos about Inuyasha ❤️

I’m honestly really glad I came across this video. Inuyasha was my first anime since my cousins on my Japanese family’s side would have me watch it with them while they would babysit me when I was really young (2-6 years). I really would relate to Inuyasha growing up not only being mixed race in a family that was extremely against it on both sides, the feeling of being alone and acting tough to hide the feelings of sadness, and also the pain of losing a mother and not really knowing much about my dad. Growing up I found myself returning to this anime numerous times during hard times in my life. A lot of times most people I talked to that were also fans of anime either never knew this anime or they hated it because they didn’t understand why Inuyasha acted the way he did. Thank you for making this video I’m really glad there’s other people that appreciate this anime.

Another angle with the reincarnation of Kikyo is that second love. Sometimes the little things people do or the expressions they wear can remind you of the past or leave ghosts of those feelings without them knowing it. Kagome reminds Inuyasha of Kikyo for more reasons than just appearance. Falling in love with someone means noticing things many will never see, the way they smile when they see you or the sight of their backs performing a task. Not that they look the same ways, but that those feelings they give you can be reminders, which can be either painful or healing. In many ways those soul serpents that keep Kikyo 'alive' are reminiscent of the echos of the past, vessels for those old feelings and by accepting that loss they find peace.

Inuyasha touched my soul. I am not a very deep person sometimes but I had a tragic love story I survived. I wasn't exactly sure whether I survived I just went on. Inuyasha didn't solve my problems but I could feel the suffering the chararters went through and I'm grateful for that. Human beings suffer. Eastern thought is that is in fact what human beings do, that is what it means to be a human. Buddhism says that and it in its way tries to encourage us to find the super human, the universe, and be able to at least live with our humaness if not spend all our time in cosmic joy. Big stuff, and touched on in a cartoon. Western religions are in contrast too serious, wallowing in self pity. Somewhere I read the Buddhist opinion of silliness is the rejection of suffering and a good thing, something to be encouraged. While western religions seem to demand seriousness and dignity. The East sometimes seems more human than the west. I could go on. Thanks for the video.

So Inuyasha was definitely the first anime I saw as a tweenager kid. I won't deny that it inspired me a lot and brought me a life long love of anime/manga- it definitely deserves the recognition and nostalgia, Takashi is and was always a classic shoujo/ action/ comdey mix story teller and incredibly influential creator. That said, I actually do think the criticism of the monster of the week format is somewhat legitimate. Because after a certain point the manga and even the show, it didn't feel like the heroes were making any progress. Namely after there's an impass with Kikyo, and the worst of the drama around that was over with, it just didn't feel like the story moved for 100's chapters. Development was given to side character, which was nice and badly needed ( and also really well done), but you'll notice once you reach final act, a lot of the manga is skipped during then. Whether it's a good thing or not you'll have to decide for yourself. But Inuyasha was definitely the first series I loved but and also the first that made me recognize problems in terms of writing long serial works. In the sense that it's hard to manage long stories while maintaining consistent narrative momentum & memoriability. Depending on the breadith of the work, it may also be too much for a reader to really remember everything afterwards ( one piece comes to mind). Ultimatly I think it comes down to preferences, whether people prefer a long winding world that's hard to recall afterwards but enjoyable in the moment. Or a succinct enjoyable story that stays with you in clearer detail. For me, Inuyasha's end and beginning plots were very memorable and generally well done, but a lot of the stuff in them middle weren't. That said, as an adult I do feel like I am nit picking, because even for all my complaints of the story and show, it's definitely still one of the better stories in anime and manga that I've enjoyed over the years. It's a classic for good reason, and I think most people would enjoy it given the chance.

I recently rewatched Inuyasha and I noticed something surprising. Sesshomaru as a character is incredibly similar to Yakumo from Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu. (Yes, I know that the shows themselves could not be more different). They both seem cold and calculated, choosing to be alone in their quest to reach perfection. They both have an unconventional, feminine look while being extremely attractive. They have a complicated rivalry with their brothers. Both have some kind of unique connection to the underworld. But most importantly, both hide a warmer, loving side behind words like "Do as you wish", and also become father figures (and *SPOILER* possibly more) to an orphan girl.

Everyone I know calls it Ranma One-Half. They also don't pronounce the 'A' the way he said it in the vid

Inuyasha is my Favourite Anime and it really made me so happy that many people understands how beautiful and awesome this show was ❤️. And I'm more excited hearing there is a new Inuyasha related project working named "Hanyo no yashahime" which I think is based on inuyasha characters children. Anyway I'm so thrilled that we'll get to see everyone back again 😍.

Man i feel that about the love you made me tear up and the dub is amazing! And the ending theme 1 “my will” by dream is one of my favorite soft songs from an anime

I love the videos on this channel. They are full of genuine emotion and love. Alot of anime youtubers get so pretentious talking about anime or manga. Especially Totally Not Mark and SuperEyePatchWolf.
