Yeah Big Chief was right you are one of the greatest writers of all time. He told me about your alien invasion book but I hadn't listened to it until today. I went back and listened to book 0 before listening to this one amazing story wish he was here to listen to it he would have loved it. And I can only guess that the 1492 reference has something to do with a nuclear sub since they sail the ocean blue. Can't wait for the next book. Thanks again.

This is the first time I've heard you narrate. First and foremost, top marks! You're one of the premier league narrators! Secondly, it's beyond doubt that narration can only be done by humans, AI, no matter how good they are or will be in the future will never be able to replace the genuine article. It's one of those ancient interactions unique to humans that has kept us bonded to each other. Nobody wants to sit down to eat a meal with a robot. Equally, most - if not all, would prefer a human to relate a tale created by another human for the enjoyment of all humans. In short, you're keeping up the traditional and very old profession of story teller admirably! Long may you continue!

I appreciate the vote of confidence, however this one was done a while back by Aaron, and I've had it on the shelf. Most of the stuff I do from here on out will be AI due to the incredibly high cost involved with humans, and the time-frame as well. I would love to do all human narration, but on a lot.of these it can take 2+ years just to break even. So it's a difficult choice of lesser quality vs being able to tell more stories.

Of course the financial aspect must take some type of presidence but I still think that the human connection between narrator and audience is priceless. Perhaps it's because I find it slightly distressing that AI and the digitising of everything is becoming so intrusive. Although for the most part we have only ourselves to blame,, but so much is lost for the sake of cost and convenience. I used to read books rather than listen to them not too many moons ago! I even used to write letters for heaven's sake instead of sending off emails! so I shouldn't really complain too much, I know I'm just as guilty! Hopefully we can all experience a real voice just once in a while - I think I could live with that.

@@paulross225 yeah the financial aspect is hard, it is necessary. Like this series for example, I don't think I'd be able to turn a profit long term.off of it. So the choice is either go with AI (after this entry), or not have the story in audio form. I'll take existing over not any day of the week. Plus I'm a big fan of old B movies, which had lower budgets but were free to tell stories that otherwise wouldn't be told. So I take some inspiration from them as well.

@@DerekSlatonHorrorAuthor some pointers for future projects; 1) small unit “operators” don’t have privates, I’ve noticed quite a few of your “teams” have them for some reason. The Delta guys in the zombie series, the team in this series etc “should” all be NCO’s and/or CO’s just by default. 2) no unit in the free world would EVER be hold up in a cave…it’s a guaranteed death trap. Only one way in or out is no bueno, once you run out of water you have to go outside the cave so…all the enemy have to do is wait outside, blow the entrance up or whatever they want really…you’re trapped inside either way. 3) making a hasty defensive position with crates full of ammunition and explosive ordnance…definitely a terribad idea. There’s a reason why we use sandbags for stuff like that, sandbags don’t explode when they catch incoming fire. My suggestion would be to use heavy furniture, books and stuff like that - they can soak up a substantial amount of anger. 4) hot-wire cars is, for all intents and purposes, impossible. Modern cars have electronic fuel injection, starters etc with computer coded key fobs and whatever else so; crossing a couple of wires to start an engine like that only works in Hollywood OR mechanically aspirated engines like older cars and certain motorcycles. 5) having a full squad (or more) of guys shooting military hardware in a enclosed space (like a small house or even a room)…let’s just say that they HAVE TO use hand and arm signals. You won’t be talking to anyone any time soon after you let it rip with a heavy machine gun inside ANYTHING even with ear pros…the pressure changes alone will kick you in the balls and teeth. Fun fact, I actually shot a .50 caliber rifle from inside a building ONCE. Third floor, blown out windows etc…I’m still missing half of a front tooth from just the pressure change. All the work done by my dentist after a training accident, immediately null and void and the repairs went bye bye. We DID have special AT4’s that were made to shoot from inside buildings (to the street below etc) but I never did…it didn’t look like a good time though.

Wow, some cultural differences are surprising. In Australia a second fridge is fairly common, and not a reason for concern. Many of them are stocked with non-alcoholic drinks, or a mixture of alcoholic and non-alcoholic. I guess when the average summer temperature is relatively high, it just makes sense to have plenty of cold drinks available.

@@DerekSlatonHorrorAuthor I was just thinking, what if you combined the 2 ideas into one story? You could fix it up so that the Zombie apocalypse was a precurser to an alien invasion. The aliens could have created the virus in order to weaken humanity and aerosolized it OR it was some sort of naturally occuring bacteria of the aliens that when a human gets it causes the bacteria to mutate into the zombie virus.
