You found my little hidden gem! Yes this was a really funny moment while cutting the shots. I was standing still, with the camera handheld and the boats' speed was exactly the same. So my movement on both shots was so identical that I matched them almost perfectly! I'm glad you pointed it out.

@@invasla Could you please do a video on how you set exposure on the GH5? workflow etc? Thanks :)

When shooting Log, expose +1 ev. Mind your histogram not to clip highlights. When shooting in low light, avoid log because under exposed video in Log will have more noise in dark areas.

When you focus properly and mount it on a modern lens (not vintage) you can get very nice and sharp result.

Nice video! Have you tried any 6K anamorphic (4:3) shots with your Anamorphot 50? It is 10bit but 420.
@invasla5 жыл бұрын
If I use the whole sensor area (4:3), with my 1.33x anamorphot 50, I will get a 16:9 image, so no cinemascope ratio. I need the 2x anamorphot for that. But still, in 16:9 you get the same anamorphic artifacts and mood.

would have been nice to see the rig...explain the set-up, etc...
@invasla5 жыл бұрын
I have in mind to do a video explaining the rig, but time is not my friend lately :) I will do it eventually. I hope the gear list helps you a bit for now. Keep in mind that you need step-up rings to bind together the lens to the anamorphic adapter and the variable nd filter. I wasn't using rails and lens holder because the total weight was ok for the lens mount. But heavier setups need rails and a lens holder too, in order to remove stress from the mount.
@checkeredflagfilms5 жыл бұрын
@@invasla thanks for the reply. look forward to seeing the rig. also, you have a nice blue/green color correction. was that your own LUT?
@invasla5 жыл бұрын
@@checkeredflagfilms I have purchased the LUT pack from IWLTBAP. It has a lot of options to choose from as a starting point, and fine tune on top of the lut the overall look according to your needs. So it's a mixed process. I shot everything at 400Mb/s , 10bit with V-LOG L, to get the best possible outcome from the GH5. I had the best possible dynamic range for highlights and shadows to be under control, even on very high contrast scenes. So the colouring process had a very nice source to work with, with lots of colour and light information. I ended up on this kind of look, because I wanted to highlight the reds of the bricks all around the city's architecture.

Thanks for this video, really nice! Did you de-squeeze by stretching the width or reducing the height?
@invasla5 жыл бұрын
you desqueeze by setting your pixel ratio from square (1:1) to 1.33:1 anamorphic. You don't mess with height or width transformation. In the final outcome, anamorphic extends the width, not shrinking the height.
@nasser-ist5 жыл бұрын
@@invasla I believe your response has some fundamental flaws in how you understand Anamorphic and the science behind de-squeeze. I was just curious on your methodology. You can keep one factor constant, whether height or width, to do a de-squeeze. You make those decisions based on what resolution you shot your videos on and what medium you want to deliver them. All good. Thanks anyway.
@invasla5 жыл бұрын
@@nasser-ist I just change the pixel ratio as mentioned above, for de-squeezing. This adds to the width, not taking from the height. For 1.33x I shoot on 16:9 (not in the 4:3 anamorphic mode in GH5 that uses the whole sensor). I don't get what else you expected as an answer. If you do find something wrong in my answer, please feel free to enlighten me. That's what comments and community are for.
@invasla5 жыл бұрын
@@nasser-ist I shot in 4K (16:9), so it's 5K after desqueezing the footage. What you see in the video is the actual exported resolution. I didn't scaled it or cropped it. This testing video is just for youtube delivery, but this setup has been used for festival submissions so dcm is meant to be the final delivery.

@@tubeman1983 when filming with 16:9 ratio, 1.33x gives you the wider cinemascope ratio. If you want to film with open gate (the whole 4:3 sensor) then 2x is better.

NIce video. Is this anamorph lense suitable for full frame canon lense?
@invasla5 жыл бұрын
For this Anamorphot-50, you need a taking lens with the front glass element to be smaller than 50mm. So if you have this diameter on a full frame lens, it should work without vignetting. There is a model for 60mm diameter too. Check out the product infornation on slr magic website to be sure.

Nice shots man. Hey can you explain to me why you would use the anamorphot 50 over the anamorphot 40? I want to buy on but the 50 is more than twice the price of the 50. I just dont understand what you get for that much more money.
@invasla5 жыл бұрын
The number 40 and 50 represent the maximum diameter in mm of the front element of the taking lens you add the anamorphic adapter on. So 40 means less lens options. Also the 50 model has a rangefinder built in, and a circular front element. The 40 model is rectangular. Either is a good and affordable option to explore anamorphic filming.
