*UPDATE:* They’ve changed the coatings on all their adapters! All adapters that haven been produced after July 2019 have the green coating of the 1.33 65 for Fujinon lenses now. Meaning the lens flares are now green and much less pronounced than on the once with the older blue coating like in the video here.

You can still get an old one easily and for an ok price. Or just ask a retailer if they still have some from before July and if they could check. It’s immediately visible when light hits the lens at an angle.

Hi Tito. I just got this adapter, but the earlier version with screws. I can't get clear image on any aperture under F10. It's totally blurry and i can't make out any detail. Setup is an Lumix S1 with manual Pentax K 50mm 1.7 lens (and 28mm which gave big vignette). Is the adapter broken or have i missed something? I had the Anamorphot 40 1.33x a year ago and that one gave a sharp image almost wide open.

I've been doing some test on mine too, but for some reason I'm not getting the 'blue' lens flare, I'm getting more white/green ish tint instead of blue.. do you happen to know why that would be?

Hey Tito! I have Sigma Art lenses and Vid-atlantic's CineMorph oval bokeh mod works great. I wonder, if I combined that with the Anamorphot 1.33x would it fix the diamond bokeh in my shots. I'm only shooting on a GH5 with a metabones XL 0.64 and I want that classic oval-bokeh with that stretch effect. But my lenses range from 35mm to 85mm.

Tito Ferradans can't wait to see it, but I do feel like 1.33 squeeze is not anamorphic enough for me at least not for cinematography. I like the 2x even though I'm not fan of MFT. I have to look at the cookbook and figure out how much of the sensor, on APSC do you waste with a 2x squeeze.

Hello, Thanks for the review, it was very informative. Do you know if all the Anamorphot 1.33x now shipping are with the new reverse lock ring design? The slr magic website does not advertise the adaptor as having the new design but rather with the old finger screw system, I would hate to order one and get the old design.

I see that a gh4 is coming :D Please, if you can, use a gh4 speed boosted with the metabones adapter.. that will bring you 1.5 - 1.6 crop like a S35 sensor :) There are few anamorphic tests with this setup..need more Great works dude

I recently got this lens and I still cannot figure out how to align it. I watched your video a dozen times and cannot replicate what you did to align the lens once you screwed it into the prime lens. Maybe I need to see a close up slow motion instruction. The manufactuers have a KZbin link on their instruction sheet but it is now a dead link.

The cheapest lightest option is still the compact 40 and kit lens though and that’s a cheap way of experimenting

Hi Tito - thanks for sharing your findings. A quick question - I'm looking into this adapter for my C100, and have the Sigma 18-35, but also a set of Olympus OM's (24/35/50/85/100/135). Any idea whether the Oly's would be good for this adapter - they all have small elements and glass close to the front rings? There are also single coated versions of most of these lenses... I guess they'd be a better option for the flarey stuff? Cheers, Gary.

wow, its amazing, real 1.33x anamorphic faking real 2x anamorphic without losing any 16:9 area of full frame!!!! but the oval must be still 2x at the aperture of prime lens or needs to be 1.5x since the extra lens already gives 1.33x oval? 1.5 x 1.33 = 1.995 = 2....and will remaining the aperture of prime lens wide open lose some options of keeping the image quality best??? or the aperture of extra lens can actually do the job too??? u should do an episode about this!!! and i will come to take the result about which 1.33x extra lens is the best quality, which prime lens can fit the extra lens the widest, etc....thank u !!!

Love the aerial synth soundtrack. Thanks for your work seeing up these shots and explanations. The anamorphic science is still a bit heady, lots of relationships between taking lenses, diopters and focal lengths. It would be nice to find a single video or set of videos explaining all the issues involve in anamorphic imagery. Additionally, it would be nice tondo such a training series that focused (all puns intended) on one set of tools (like SLR Magic's), simplifying the discussion by narrowing the options. This is especially true because SLR Magic has this series of adaptors, a discussion revolving around them would provide a simpler overall snapshot (punster) of the entire topic. Thanks again for your time and for sharing so freely. (P.S. some nice shots here! : )

Did you solve your problem? I had the same issue, contacted SLR Magic, they didn't want to tell me what key I need to get in order to do the repair. They wanted to make additional money and told me to ship the lens to them and pay an additional 60 USD + shipping. I have found this super rude, as they talk about serviceability in they value proposition. And the repair is super easy: get a 0.89 mm hex key and just play a little with the allignment until the normal marking is at the line marking and the ring hits the stop. It was a 5 minute fix.

Inverse shutter rule is a guideline. For all this handheld shooting I think it actually adds quite a bit to the rawness and also the visibility of the footage. At 1/50th, I imagine quite a bit more would have been smeared just from the shaking of the camera. And also like I say, with the combination of the music it gives the whole series of shots a haunting feel. I'd say if the only thing you can criticize about the shots, even from a technical perspective, is shutter speed, you've probably missed the point. And more to the point, if he didn't post any part of the exposure triangle, would you have even noticed? I'm guessing a smarmy "yes" is coming. But even with that, high shutter speeds are used all the time in a lot of scenarios.
