What is the main difference between pure sine and modified sine inverter?
Both pure sine and modified sine inverter will provide power to AC appliances, however, Pure Sine provides high quality equal to the power in your home, the Modified sine wave is cheaper and provides power in a simpler form of AC power which is adequate for simple electronics, but may damage more complex electronics televisions, laptops, digital microwaves, fridges. How to convert from VA to Watts?
Volts x Ampere = VA (VoltAmpere)
Volts x Ampere x Power Factor = kW (Watts)
VA (VoltAmpere) = kW (Watts) / Power Factor

VA= W/Pf , i.e. Load VA= 503/0.8 = 628.75 VA
20 % future load, So Total Load =628.75 X1.2 = 754. 5 VA
There are the different capacity of inverters like 625VA, 700 VA, 800 VA, 850 VA, 900 VA, 1200VA, 1500 VA, 2000 VA, etc.
The battery backup time in hours can be calculated using the following formula:
Backup Time = Battery AH x 12V x N x Efficiency of Battery / Load in Watts
where,
Battery AH = Ampere Hour Capacity of Battery
N = Number of 12 V Batteries needed
The efficiency of Battery = Generally it is 0.8
Battery selection for house
Total load for our house = 503 W
Backup Time = Battery AH x 12V x N x Efficiency of Battery / Load in Watts
Battery AH =150AH, N=1, Efficiency of Battery =0.8
Backup Time = (150 x 12 x 1 x 0.8) / 503 = 2.86 hours
