Really good point, it takes a lot of effort to figure out the different hues/saturation for the correct tonal value (while still being interesting). If you were to look at my process you'd see a LOT of clipping layers to mess with the right colours often - as well as swatches everywhere. It's a steep learning curve but it's extremely rewarding. It sucks shes teaching people to just eyedrop reference colours forever.

I do paint the eyes by starting dark and going lighter, slowly building up the eyeball, then the eyelids etc. And it takes MUCH longer than what she does. Because I have to actually paint

Your Aurora piece was actually very well done in my honest opinion. You did pretty well with the process to get there, especially with no sketch to work off of. Building a piece from just painting general shapes and looking at a reference can be difficult, so don’t discount what you accomplished. Might not mean much but I was very impressed lol ^^ Anywho, you definitely caught yourself a new subscriber. Welcome to KZbin!

Here’s the thing, if she used the Ai art as actual reference, and stylised it and made it unique I don’t think that would be bad. But it’s the fact that she’s literally traced it, first half of her vids she just blocks out any shape, pauses the record, makes the Ai art layer visible on top of the layers, then tracing around the shapes, hides layer and presses record again. Then repeating this with shadows and highlights, and as the details progress I believe she’s using an inverted layer mask on the Ai generated layer she’s referencing, which then lets her literally paint and make that original ai reference visible on top of her blocked out shapes.

You can also find a lot of speedpaints from both digital and traditional artists, slow them down and study their process. If anyone in any field is promising a shortcut to an end result theyre scammers.

I remembered seeing her art, but I usually just watched and something did seem off. I know how much time and skill it takes to even lay out a correct anatomic sketch, not even commenting about one that would align with CARTOON references. Overall, she is probably just using her platform for money/recognition But overall, great video! The audio changes weren't as prominent to me, and I genuinely enjoy listening to your voice. I would love to see more content from you going forward :)

I honestly think shes blurring the lines between "making" the art and but still using AI. I saw a jack frost one and it looked believable until i realized that the pupils of his eyes didnt match kinda like how AI does pupils they are never the same size and one of them if not both look warped and just not a perfect circle. So its like she did the "painting" but then just showed AI as the result??? And then i saw her do a bridgerton character (colin) and when she highlighted his nose she kinda just draw in like maybe 2 spots and then it cuts to a straight vertical highlight line perfectly rendered and im like "why couldnt you just draw the line instead of the circle 2 miliseconds ago?" Her art process is definitely mixed with her own skills and AI which is crazy to me. They wouldve been just as successful without the AI why use it? And yes her courses are overpriced. I can learn how to paint digitally for free by just scrolling for tutorials on youtube, its pretty sad in my opinion

I think they de-make a finished work, that was made using Eh-Aye. It's very easy to do that. You start with the finished work and (after masking it) you add layers of colour blobs that are erased during the filming process. It's like the way the shot tge fight scenes in Rocky. Start with the final round, with the fighters beaten up and then shoot the rounds in reverse order until they are at the first round; clean and beautiful.

It just has that weird AI "art" look, I also find it funny she didn't use her own prompts so now the og pics are easy to find. I, one time saw an artist with a really similar art style to the infamous AI one and did originally think it was fake. So now I tend to take more discretion, but I think you can reasonably say this is definitely just slight tracing over other (AI) art.

I used to follow her in 2019-2020, before the widespread usage of AI art and she does know how to draw, render, etc. She used to sell procreate brushes and individual painting processes on gumroad. Maybe she is using AI for profit inflation and social media content. Not justifying it, but I wouldn't completely call her a fake artist as some of these comments have.

I've joined a digital course online from an artist from my country and it seems (I've not buy her course, so I based my opinion of her instagram videos) like we were taught similar techniques she's using. That's why I don't think she's faking her process. I've myself used a reference photo in the background to outline. I don't see an issue. It is still art, sure not the same as drawing from scratch with a reference photo next to your ipad.

@artbymadeleiine it would be a show of good faith because that's what people see from you when they are looking to purchase something. They want to know that they are really learning the technique, not just pressing buttons on an AI photo. But the practice of painting over reference (ai or not) should be a bit more accepted in the art community, specifically if it is used for art that is a piece of a whole. Like if a webtoon creator painted over a photo to make a panel for a 40 panel comic. We know that this artist can draw, but why would be not want them to cut corners for their own time, well being, and sanity??? Drawing poses in extreme perspective is already hard, now draw it 10 times by hand on a deadline and it's going to lead to burnout and possibly injures to make the deadline. But suddenly an artist is looked down upon if they use a reference (even if they take the photo themselves) and paint over it for few panels in a comic. There's alot of conservative/puritan views within art that leads to destructive habits for those who share art.

I started following Ylanast when I first started on my art journey. Always loved her videos… but I was an art newbie who didn’t know better. The stuff I’ve been seeing about her is rather eye opening and I can’t argue any of them. It looks real bad on her part. But I do want to mention one point - not everyone uses sketches, myself included. I prefer to “sculpt out” the object/face/etc. I don’t think that the process of drawing in the eye socket shadows and sculpting out from there is any indication of foul play. Everyone has their own process and sometimes it’s vastly different than the majority. The rest of the mountain of evidence though… that’s highly sus.

This situation is crazy, i personally have no problem with ai art (as a digital artist myself) and I actually follow an account on Instagram who makes and posts ai art. But the difference between them and Ylanast is that the creator I follow is honest and lets ppl know its ai and they didn't draw it. Then on top of that tracing and rebranding others work 🤦🏾‍♀️. Then on top of that selling $100+ courses when it seems to me like can't draw?? And the fact that she has 1.1 mil when there are so many other artists who can actually draw, who are more deserving of those followers. Edit: seeing her traditional art shows me she can draw and is very talented but chooses not to and instead decides to lie 🤦🏾‍♀️. She could go so far if she was just honest.

@@valta2760 I don't have a problem with it because many people that use it are honest about it being AI and usually do so for fun. They don't profit off of it or claim it as there's, all rights belong to the engine they used to generate the images. The images are also based off prompts. I've used AI generators like Microsoft copilot and I've also reversed searched ai images (I did so with the account I follow on IG to see if it was copied) and you can't find a replica of the image online (which makes sense because the prompts are very unique and can be hard to replicate sometimes. I've tried to re-create different prompts in different AI generators and different images are produced for different engines). So I don't think AI steals art, rather it uses them as references - which most artists do anyway. But I guess that depends, the ones I've used as well as the IG account I follow uses don't steal art from artists 🤷🏾‍♀.

They use other people's art as references for the prompts people give them (which the interpretation of differs depending on the engine used). If it was stealing art, I wouldn't support it. But most of the art I've seen produced isn't directly stolen from anyone, just used as reference.

Try not repeating the same point over and over again . Eg.: “that’s suspicious”. It gets boring after a few times, instead make strong points showing why it’s suspicious. And when you edit , take all the pauses off, naturally most people talk just like you are in this video. But notice with other KZbinrs it feels like they’re always talking super fast, they are not in actuality, they just edit out the pauses between sentences. Also try using music here and there. All in all the video felt slow and lack of confidence- but it’s your first one, im hoping to see you on my home page again. Good luck
